Never forget that the War on Drugs was fabricated to criminalize certain communities.
Transcript:
We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black but by getting the public to associate hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.

my only advice to all the girls out there is to wear weird shit. just do it
Benefits
Men are more likely to be put off and thus, leave you alone.
Women who are also weird may be inclined to start up conversations with you and befriend you.
Little girls will feel safer around you because they are also weird.
Small children may ask you if you are a fairy/princess/mermaid, and that's just a really good feeling.
You get that much closer to being a fairy/princess/mermaid.
6. You make your inner child happy and every time you do that, you heal.
the reason champagne problems is so sad, to me at least, is because the girl singing is obviously dealing with some sort of mental illness and no one seems to care… the “this dorm was once a mad house, i mad a joke ‘it was made for me’” just describes perfectly how it is to live with mental illness and to make self deprecating jokes to cope with it. and the comment is so clearly glossed over and all her problems are described as “champagne problems,” as if they’re problems that nobody takes seriously. and at the end of the story the guy picks himself back up and finds another woman and has a happy ending, meanwhile… what does the narrator get??? all she gets is “she’s fucked in the head” with the imagery of watching her ex love with his new fiance through a glass window while she’s stuck alone on the outside.
Apartment hunting has shown me that so many kids my age and younger openly broadcast that they are running away from abusive homes and that they are LGBT. I sympathize completely, but you do not under any circumstances need to be on a roommate finder website telling strangers on the internet that you are part of a vulnerable minority with no one back home who cares what happens to you... just say you are moving out, end of. Once you get to trust someone you live with then you can share the backstory. Internet safety is something that still matters.
i wish i was as cool as her..

Forgotten Retail: Cybersmith (1995-1999)
One of those early internet/cafe retail experiments that popped up in the first web gold rush years, they had opened four locations (mainly in Massachusetts) before closing in 1999. Customers could experiment with the internet, online services, CD-ROMs, and PC games. They could also create their own website or video greeting card (image 6). There are also “virtual reality pods” (Virtuality models - image 5) and “simulation stations”. In the ’On-Line Cafe’ (image 3), shoppers can order food from computer stations.
