not to be like anti-neurotypical or whatever but adhd people with hyperfixtations and autistic people with special interests are like, literally the core of any fandom. all those fics and comics and askblogs that update daily with no signs of stopping? those theory and other fandom blogs that post content so often you wonder how much free time they have? listen, itâs amazing what you can get done when itâs literally the only thing you fucking think about. appreciate your local autistic/adhd content creators.

How to Make a Face Mask for Hospitals and Medical Centers
Hospitals and medical centers across the country are asking sewers to make face masks to protect out health workers. You can google âhow to sew face masks for hospitalsâ to find out where fabric masks are being requested.
Stillwater Medical Center is asking sewers to follow the face mask pattern from buttoncounter.com here.
From Deaconess Health System:
EVANSVILLE, Ind. â Citing shortages, Deaconess Health System, including Hendersonâs Methodist Health, has asked the public to sew face masks for staff fighting coronavirus.
âThis does follow CDC protocols that you can find on their website that if all other supplies are not available, that handmade masks that meet certain criteria are acceptable,â Deaconess spokeswoman Becca Scott said.
The release with the video, pattern and instructions was posted to the Deaconess Facebook page Thursday morning and is available at www.deaconess.com/masks. A PDF of the pattern is available here and embedded at the bottom of this article. Â
Deaconess has âa sample videoâ about how to make the masks, which Scott said will be sterilized when they come in.

Additional Resources for Open Source or Volunteer COVID-19 Projects:
One of my favorite how-to sites is Instructables. The DIY Cloth Face Mask has almost 100,000 views. It is a step-by-step instruction for those who need it. Kudos to ashevillejm.
In 2006, CDC released a Simple Respiratory Mask design using heavyweight t-shirts in its Emerging Infectious Diseases journal. More of an academic post, but some ideas in it.
A Facebook group was formed last week: Open Source COVID19 Medical Supplies. It is worth a visit â in just a few short days there are 20,000-plus members and volunteers.
If you are looking for some research and street-level testing of various materials for DIY mask-making, this post from Smart Air Filters is exceptional: What Are The Best Materials for Making DIY Masks? It also includes a few great links at the end of it.
i will say that this coronavirus scare has definitely revealed that minimum-wage service workers are absolutely instrumental for society to function⊠all the hoity-toity business meetings can be cancelled, the NBA can be cancelled, public schools and colleges can be cancelled, government meetings can be cancelled, but the checkout line at the grocery store canât be cancelled⊠in a perfect world iâd hope that this was a bellwether for better treatment of workers like me but i know weâll just continue to get paid min wage with no rewards or thank-yous from the world during this time lolololol

So here I am, circulating it.

Blake Brockingtonâs death was overshadowed three years ago by Transgender Day of Visibility and a string of white transgender suicides (namely that of Leelah Alcorn). Letâs not forget Blake and how amazing he was at just 18 years old. He was closely involved in the trans community and was the first openly trans homecoming king in North Carolina. This year, letâs celebrate the many Black trans folks who are forgotten after TDOR while recognizing those who are still alive and fighting for all of us (like Ashlee Marie Preston, Laverne Cox, and Janet Mock)!
Today is the 4th anniversary of Brockingtonâs death. Pay your respects to Black trans people while theyâre still here and remember those weâve lost.
Happy Black History Month! Letâs never forget Blake Brockington.
This is my son, Chester, who is nearly 4. He was invited to his friend Chloeâs birthday party today, the theme was prince and princesses. He asked if he could go as Sleeping Beauty, so I bought him a dress and put a cute little clip in his hair.
We arrived at the party to the following comments from the adults present: âOh that is just cruel.â
âWhy did you make him wear a dress?â
âPoor little man, whatâs your mummy playing at?â
âHeâs going to hate you when he grows up.â
âNo way Iâd let my son dress like a girl.â
The fact is, Chester is almost completely gender neutral. I let him wear what he wants, be it boys or girls clothes, and he plays with whatever toys he likes. This usually involves him holding tea parties while wearing his pink Minnie Mouse top, jeans and a tiara. The guests are more often than not a mixture of Winnie The Pooh characters, dinosaurs, Barbie, Dora and solders, and theyâre usually transported in his favorite fire engine.
When my husband arrived at the party later on, he was subjected to endless ridicule from the other dadâs present about how I must keep his balls in my back pocket because otherwise he would have put his foot down and not allowed Chester out like that. Oh, and by the way, our other son dressed as Ariel. When my husband pointed out that the boys were happy, and the mother of the birthday child made a point of saying how wonderful she thought it was that we allowed them freedom of choice and expression, they then stopped talking about it to our faces and started muttering about us behind our backs.
Interestingly enough, not a single child said a word about their choice of costumes, other than to compliment Chester on his new dress.

I couldnât hit the like button on this post hard enough. When I was young, my father used to threaten me (when I was not being âmanlyâ enough) with âwearing a dress that he kept in the trunk of the carâ. I realize now that he was a raging homophobe/transphobe - because i didnât have any problem with wearing a dress. I was cut deeply by his trying to *SHAME* me with it.Â
I have heard every single phrase the adults were saying. âhow cruelâ or âdress like a girlâ, and I have felt the hurt they were meant to make me feel.
Tiny human, you wear whatever strikes your fancy. I for one am cheering you on. :)

Our son wanted to be Coraline for Halloween one year because he loved her blue hair and bright yellow raincoat. My husband and I were happy to help him acquire the look. In the span of a single phone call during which he proudly informed Grandma & Grandpa who he was going as, he suddenly and inexplicably decided to go as a SWAT officer instead.
Despite insisting heâd changed his mind on his own, he remained uncharacteristically quiet on the matter even during trick or treating. We donât know what was discussed, but all phone convos henceforth have been on speaker phone and we remember that year as the one the grandparents drained the joy out of his Halloween.
Kids only have a small window of time in which they LOVE they way they look and feel in the clothing/style they choose for themselves before societal idiocy and criticism robs them of this self acceptance and joy. You see a kid smiling because theyâre happy in something of their own choosing, you donât correct or project your beliefs/opinions on them. Be someone who shows them how to hold on to that inner light and happiness with themselves.
As soon as a party was mentioned in last nightâs episode I knew I had to draw the nein in their fancy new get ups. Calebâs is my favorite so far, there will be two or three more parts in this little series I just wanted to get some of them out as quickly as possible.
My mom just sent me this video without any context??
