Skulls Sanctus

The Skulls Sanctus are a successor to the Imperial Fists, being created during a founding since lost to time. Brought about for much the same purpose as their gene sire, the Skulls were to be an unbreakable wall. As if by fate, the completion of their creation was compounded with an astropathic distress signal. The Rancor Sector, known for its high density of agri-worlds, was suffering near constant raiding by Drukari and Ork pirates. Worse still Battlefleet Rancor was reported near completely destroyed. Seen as fate, the Skulls Sanctus were loosed to bear the Emperor’s wrath and secure the far flung sector.

During the chapter’s initial travel to retake the Sector, their gene-seed suffered a drastic mutation. The Omophagea, responsible for allowing a space marine to glean memories from eating an individual’s flesh, significantly improved in its capabilities. Memories became longer. Experiences and emotions easier to interpret. Eventually the voices of the dead could be heard, as though the consciousness of the lost had manifested. This change was seen as intended, the plans of the Emperor lain within their gene-seed to guarantee success. With this single twist of fate the path of the chapter cult was determined.

The cult could best be described as ancestor worship. When a brother of the chapter dies, his brain is recovered, blessed by a chaplain, portioned to his squad mates, and devoured. This is the “Soul’s Continuation” ritual. Through it, the dead’s brothers take in some of his skills and memories, ensuring he will both live on and strengthen his squad. So potent is their mutations that a brother’s meditations can allow something akin to communication with those long dead. To maintain the purity of their chapters memories and experience however, eating the flesh of anyone not of the chapter is seen as blasphemous, and is known to lead to madness.

The chapter symbol is birthed from and represents these ideals. A red skull, haloed and upon a white background, representing death, its knowledge offered to the chapter and the purity maintained.

I found this and thought I’d share it here. I didn’t realise than an Inquisitor had better Shuriken weaponry than the Phoenix Lord himself! Or that Swooping Hawks were also being one upped. Are any Eldar going to be the best in their field?

I thought they were meant to be an elite hyper-specialised army, does the elite part just purely mean points cost or are Eldar no longer elite compared to everyone else?

I thought every guard army is in reference to a real 19th or 20th centurury armies, except maybe cadians, only because they are kinda generic.
