GW is inching more on it. Stormcast Eternals are men and women.
YASSSSHHHHHH
Yes! The only downside is that there aren’t any named lore stormcast lady characters yet. But to be fair…there aren’t many named men either. I do so love the stormcast…dangit…tooo many armies!
The next question is whether they make female models too.
Because guess what AoS faction has great space marine models.
Design Flaw: Warmachine
In the recent set Age of Ultron, a storyline event set for Heroclix, there were a number of interesting pieces, as well as a couple duds. One of the more noticeable pieces was Warmachine. For 200 points, he brings a rather impressive array of ranged powers, 7 range and three bolts. His attack is rather standard with a special damage power that grants Probability control if he targets more than one characters. At first glance, he’s a rather solid tent pole for his value.
Except he lacks Indomitable.
That right there is the biggest reason he is so weak. His lack of Indomitable, or any kind of willpower, ultimately kills him. With a defense value of 17 printed that rapidly drops, and an attack that dips into 9 after the first four clicks, he tends to fall off rather quickly. But those can be mitigated by his traited ES/D. It’s that he has no willpower that he falters.
With him being 200 points, there is no reason for him to not have indomitable, especially as an iron man figure. At that point value, he is essentially your team. In the standard sealed, you might have another 100 points to play with, or depending on the event, 200. For the Age of Ultron storyline, it really only went to 400 on the last month. So, for him to take up most your team and be unable to constantly push is what ruins him. He’d get outright out actioned, out positioned and out positioned. While you might get off an impressive alpha strike with him, he’ll have to clear the next turn or take one unavoidable.
Which at 200 points should never be an issue. Even worse that no other figure in the set at that point value is short for willpower. Compared to Thor, who at 200 points has a better defense value, clix number and attack values, Warmachine is just a piece you can skip. His low attack values on his back half of the dial and rapidly dropping defense values would be fine if he had Indomitable/Willpower because it’d take longer to hit it. But with his inability to keep up action wise, you’re more than likely going to see those low values after one or two hits.
Which trails into the greater design flaw. Tent pole pieces should not be missing Willpower. Any figure that high in value should not be wanting for willpower. Especially within the set of AoU, he’s the only figure in that range without willpower of any sort. Which means pulling him in your Wave 2 booster just meant you lost out on the infinitely superior Thor. Which is the disappointing part because he should have the willpower. He should be viable. It’s not like willpower would make him utterly unstoppable. His sole click of impervious and rapidly dropping defenses make it so he can be cut down once the pain gets going.
It’s just without willpower, he can’t react.
Heroclix: World’s Finest Pre Release
So, I figure why not write down my misadventures in table top gaming and the musings of it? After all, it’s what I sink most of my cash into, so why not put the thoughts of a mid-grade player onto paper!
So, today was my first Pre Release for World’s Finest. Recently, WizKids has started a pre release system where up to two weeks prior, people can get their hands on the packs via a sealed draft. Naturally, this comes at a slightly higher price point (17 or so vs 13) since it really covers the entry fee. That is fine, I can accept that. This is generally done on the two week or week prior marks of the set’s release, which allows you to essentially buy the packs a bit early. However, you can’t use them in any legal tournaments until the set is released. That is also fine, it makes sense.
I played in World’s Finest. We did a single booster draft, and at my suggestion to the TO, capped it out at 400 points instead of letting it be a Battle Royale play what you pull. This was a good idea since the guy next to me pulled a 250 point Joker along with about 200-300 more points in raw pain. Conversely, it did nothing to save the guy next to me who basically pulled about 220 points between five figures. Meanwhile, I sat at 355 myself.
If I were to do it again, I would simply have it be a two booster draft and avoid a pure sealed for this set. Reason being is the power distribution in this set. It’s all over the place. The high point power pieces seem to be reserved for the Super Rares, with a few mid range hitters in the Rare and Uncommon slots. But between them all is a solid littering of support and low point pieces. For blind buys, this is good. However, when your booster contains no piece with a point value higher than 70, and most of them are about 20 or 40, that’s where the problem rises. Granted, a draft is supposed to eliminate that issue, but having multiple boosters look like that doesn’t help. I believe a second booster for each with alleviate that issue by allowing more flex room for everyone.
That being said, it was fun and relatively balanced. Certain pieces can only be described as the ultimate clutch piece, while others just falter under their own weight. I’m not disappointed by the generics. Quite the opposite. I love the generics and what they can bring. I just find that pulling a pack of three of them, with a rare toymaster (30 points of support for robots) is not a good pack in a limited environment. Especially when the guy beside you busts World’s Finest (Duo Figure), and a guy across from you pulls Shazam!.
To trail into initial thoughts for this set, I like it. I know people complain that there’s just too much Batman and Superman, but I like how they handled them in this set compared to Superman and Wonderwoman. Shifting Focus is an amazing trait. It allows for a lot of versatility and strategy to be used. Especially with figures like Batman who can change from a stealth figure to a close combat master. Or Superman who can lay into an opponent and then pop behind his allies, becoming a defensive piece. Pulling any of the shifting focus pieces meant your team had at least one good piece. I even enjoyed the functions of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. Their double prob and perplex powers make them incredibly solid, even if only targeting themselves.
What I don’t like, however, are the Super Rare versions of Batman and Superman. They just feel pointless. Which is not what a SR piece should do. SR pieces should be interesting and unique to some degree. However, the SR versions don’t utilize the Shifting Focus trait, and don’t bring anything unique. For the former, it feels weird that they wouldn’t try to capitalize on the powers of the lower rarities. Even the Rare slot versions have the shifting focus trait, but their focus is solely in the realm of range combat. To look at the SRs and not see synergy with pieces you’ll likely get a number of is a shame. For the latter point, they’re just dull. They are very straight forward pieces that can’t get negative modifiers and can’t have powers countered. No special powers, just colors. Normally, that would be fine but it just feels lacking in the face of the Duo Figure and in the case of SR Superman, his chase is the exact same points and wins every time. They’d be good pieces to pull in limited, but they’re just boring. This also makes three super rare Supermen in a row from DC sets. I’d say that’s fine in normal circumstances, but while the first two are uniquely different in form and function, the third one is just a dull 200 point beat stick. Two slots that could have gone to two other characters that should be made for this kind of set, like Doomsday and Darkseid.
Overall though, it’s a good set. The Metal Men and Doom Patrol are cool themes, and the villains of the set are hilarious in their functions. The inclusion of the Justice League ID cards is also nice, since they’ll work well with the Avenger ones. But for the next event, I just hope they do two boosters instead of one, for the sake of making it more balanced.
I want a relationship where we can get drunk at midnight, just the two of us, and sit up talking and making out all night, and go to the beach at four in the morning. I want someone who’s down for adventure. I want someone who will go camping with me, and boating, and fishing, and travel. I want someone who wants me for life. I want passion that doesn’t burn out.
This is nice and all but unfortunately comes off the same kind of way that the whole “If you want to go on a trip to europe then do so!” kind of posts do. Like I get that this is a nice ideal and all but tends to ignore the very real reality of the way people live and have to function.
I too wish to be either fairly wealthy or to be in a relationship with someone fairly wealthy.

Putting something in an indestructable shell does not make that thing indestructable. It encases it in a bag that it can break within. That’s it. We learned this with tank crews.
Indeed. Unless it has a way of dispersing the kinetic energy in a way that doesn't negatively affect what it protects, then the shell is useless.
Think of it like having a kevlar vest. Sure, it'll stop most small arms fire in the form of hand guns and pistols, but you're going to feel the blunt force impact of it still.
Hello, I was recently assembling some skeleton warriors for my vampire counts army and I realized they are very front heavy and tip easily. Being someone who has a blog dedicated to warhammer I figured you would be a great person to ask! Any Ideas on how to stabilize them? Im thinking maybe gluing washers to the bottom but I really have no Idea. Thanks for taking the time to read and possibly answer this!
I consulted my Vampire Count specialists and they suggested either glueing pennies to the bottom of the base or getting creative with the base itself by using rocks or scenery to weigh it down. Hope that helps!
Thanks! Pennies are larger than the base but nice thought. Love the suggestion about scenery though, I may have to pick up some slate pieces
I just looked at those models. You’re not kidding those things are tiny!
Magnetize the bases. You can get strips of magnets that are easy to cut and then glue into place.
Then just put another strip of magnets on the movement tray (Might take a bit to make sure you're gluing the right side onto the base), or use a magnetic paint/light strip of a magnetic metal.

Psssh, whatever, Doctor Who side of tumblr. We’re hauling that thing over, strip-mining it, and making a giant ring around our planet with giant elevators up to it. ALL MADE OF DIAMOND.
I don’t think you understand the very real threat that exists on planets made of diamond. The Doctor does.
I think that all these worlds are ours except Europa and since we’re not allowed to attempt landing there to get their big-ass diamond mountain that we should take advantage of a nice big uninhabited planet of diamond that doesn’t have uppity Domino pieces telling us our business.
Speaking for the non-Whovian side of Tumblr…

I'm sorry, Linkara. I'm afraid I can't let you do that.
Surrak Dragonclaw (2GUR)
Legendary Creature - Human Warrior
Flash Surrak Dragonclaw can’t be countered. Creature spells you control can’t be countered. Other creatures you control have trample.
6/6
As a blue mage who loves to say “nope!”, I hate this card.
I don’t really like how both this and Anafenza feel like sideboard cards. I know they’re powerful against any opponent but it doesn’t feel very Khanly when the cards seem to say “use her against delve” or “use him against blue based control”. The other three khans feel like they work with your clan rather than against your opponent. I’m aware this sounds pretty illogical and but I don’t think I can express it any better. Does anyone else get this feeling or am I just crazy?
Pretty sure giving other creatures you control trample without a chance of interacting at instant speed is helping your own clan. Giving all your other creatures the can’t be countered clause is just the cherry on top.
I mean, a flashable 6/6 that gives mass trample, and prevents counter
For only 5 in a deck with green? Yes. Please.
Calling all Warhammer and 40k Brains…. Question…..
Could Nagash be used as a Deamon Prince or Chaos HQ choice in Warhammer 40k?? If so how???
He could, actually.
You just need a circular base of monstrous creature size.
I expect a few Warhammer 40k fans to say something about how there’s literally no point considering it uses the same models as the 6th Edition Starter Box (Also named Dark Vengeance). However, I’ve been out of the loop of Warhammer 40k for a whole edition. I skipped 6th, and didn’t…
I think there’s no doubt about it I am going to buy it, but it’s finding the right time. I really love both sides, and while I understand the point of trading one force to bolster the other, I actually really like both. Chaos look just so amazing and would look fantastic as a Cult of Nurgle (that’s just my opinion though). And the Angels of Absolution’s lore resonates with my desire to field a Space Marine chapter that has a very similar background to the Original Brotherhood of Steel (I am a Fallout fanatic). On top of that you get the mini rulebook (The big chunky 3 book thing is a massive turn off to me as a player) and usually you get the templates for everything, it’s basically the best starting point for completely new players and those that want to jump back from a long break. And those models tho.
Indeed, you do get the templates and the mini rule book pretty much has all the important shit in it.
Also, if you can, keep an eye out for anyone who has the LE Interrogator-Chaplain. He's a nifty piece that has a sweet sculpt.
And, if you ever wanted to run them as Chaos, you pretty much have a good base for traitor legion!
To buy Dark Vengeance or not buy Dark Vengeance that is the question... Hmm...
I expect a few Warhammer 40k fans to say something about how there’s literally no point considering it uses the same models as the 6th Edition Starter Box (Also named Dark Vengeance). However, I’ve been out of the loop of Warhammer 40k for a whole edition. I skipped 6th, and didn’t even play much of 5th because I got stuck playing as Orks, and I had my education to care about also my mind was a mess but that’s not really relevant. So in reality I haven’t properly been in the loop since 4th Edition (those were the days). Basically, I think 7th Edition Dark Vengeance wouldn’t be a bad place to start with, I get a smaller rulebook (much preferable to 3 muckle books of pretty pictures and lore), and nice models, even better is the fact they are Dark Angels. While I prefer their “splinter chapter” known as the Angels of Absolution there’s Absolutely (Hah) nothing to stop me painting the set up in the colours of the AoA Chapter. Also the Chaos models are really damn nice.
I got it and traded off my chaos side for another Dark Angels half.
Well worth it to get those extra three bikes and 5 termies.
Plus, the second tac squad wasn't too shabby either.
