I'm really enjoying ride or die, but even if it was the worst Show on Earth I would give it many delightful watches just for the sheer number of times that they've had handsome young man appreciate, sweet talk, and outright Romance Octavia Spencer's character.

They call her beautiful. They call her smart. They call her remarkable. They ask for her Ivy number. They want her to dance with them in the club. There is never a moment's doubt that everyone thinks that her husband was a complete idiot for not appreciating what he had.

And she's funny and she's a fish out of water but she's also both the moral heart of the show and her competence is never played for laughs. This is a woman with an Ivy League law degree and 20 years managing a household and a member of parliament's career. She saves Judith as much as Judith saves her. She loves deeply and purely and honestly but she also takes no shit and suffers no fools. Just. Debbie. Character of all time.

This is only relevant to a small subset of folks but I want to share this anyway.

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies already power many of the products and services Canadians use every day. It is increasingly important that AI systems be safe to use and that their governance be grounded in transparency and clear accountability.

To help advance the vision set out in Canada's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy: AI for All, the Government of Canada has launched a public consultation on increasing AI transparency. Increased transparency can help Canadians understand when they are interacting with AI systems, help businesses make informed decisions about the AI products they adopt, and give governments and organizations the information they need to develop policies and research that shape Canadians' experience with AI.

The government has identified five areas where transparency issues arise and where further action may be warranted:

Detecting and identifying AI-generated content

Empowering individuals to know when they are interacting with an AI system

Improving the availability of consistent and understandable information about AI systems, including their development, capabilities and limitations

Enabling the tracking of serious incidents related to AI systems

Advancing ways to better track the activity and interactions of AI agents

You are invited to take the survey and share your views on these issues.

I’ve seen an occasional take on fanon!Adrian where they’re the Eridian equivalent of upper-class/an aristocrat, by upbringing. The popular fanon!Adrian physical appearance seems to “fit” with that by human sensibilities — big and tall, a pretty color, assumed to be considered attractive, and often possessing other qualities that fellow Eridians would find favorable.

I think it’d be fun and juicy to flip that around.

What if ROCKY is the Eridian equivalent of minor royalty? It sure would smooth the way for him to get the Eridian people moving fast on helping Grace, if he had that kind of pull/network of connections already in place to call on, by virtue of his pre-hero status. Maybe his position on the Blip-A was even secured via, like, 5% nepotism or something.

It might also be cool to see Rocky’s enthusiastic gushing about Adrian to be less “because Adrian is considered a Catch compared to Rocky” and more “Rocky is used to other people assuming that Rocky ‘married down’ or is ‘slumming it’, and that naturally pisses Rocky right the hell off, so he got in the habit of preemptively bragging on Adrian before anyone can try and make some snide remark”.

And to once again bring in James Ortiz’s headcanon that the late Blip-A crew included some members of Rocky’s family (which could also be partly explained if that was somewhat Because Nepotism) — I think the scenario that fits the situation best in my mind would be if Rocky originally left Erid as like, the 5th or 6th in line to some important position, and then because of the Blip-A crew’s deaths, when he came back to Erid he was 2nd in line behind just one other Eridian — who hadn’t gone on the ship (because of being next in line and therefore not free to risk their life in such a venture).

This would let Rocky call up that person who’s 1st in line and be like “So hey, since I literally saved the planet, if I hypothetically wanted to jump over you in the line of succession and take that important position, *no one* would stop me. I currently have zero interest in doing that, and I see no reason for that to change anytime soon… as long as you throw 1000% of your support & influence & resources into the Save The Alien movement.”

And extra bonus points for Grace freaking out a little when he learns that Rocky was actually Prince Rocky the whole time and Rocky never thought to mention it even once, for YEARS.

And!!! One other funny outcome: imagine if everyone on Erid just assumes that Grace is ALSO comparable Earth royalty. And of course Rocky wouldn’t correct anyone, because Best Friend Grace deserves that level of respect and more.

Which means that when diplomatic talks between Erid and Earth start sometime in the future, Erid will be referencing Grace as like. Savior Hero Dr. Captain Prince Grace.

Earth: Oh, they made him a prince for everything he did for them! That’s lovely!

Erid: Whew, we got Savior Grace’s Earth titles correct. Nailed it.

And much much later down the line:

Earth: Wait — you didn’t make him a prince???

Erid: No??? Didn’t… YOU make him a prince???

I love when people try to gotcha me on my stance that all sports should be gender integrated with "even American football???" because I can instantly come back with "oh lmao, no, I don't think ANYONE should play American football at all, it's way too dangerous" like nice try but I know no amount of testosterone is going to protect you from the profound, life ruining health issues caused by getting repeated severe concussions over the course of several years. No one should play this sport.
