I've been thinking about Sephiroth's having a tendency in Ever Crisis First Soldier to put his hand on his chest and that it seems to have made it into Rebirth as something he does.

The revelation that he used to wear a locket with his mothers picture there really does change the gesture meaning. I think he's reaching for for that. The idea he's still reaching for her roughly a decade after losing the locket really breaks my heart.

This feels so wrong but so right at the same time.

*grabs you by the shoulders and shakes you* zack was not smitten with sephiroth in nibelheim like it was portrayed in cloud's memory. he had a girlfriend who he adored and his relationship with sephiroth was pretty chill and normal as of crisis core. he wasn't bouncing around trying to impress his ex-mentor's traumatized friend who he already knew. CLOUD WAS SMITTEN WITH SEPHIROTH. little trooper cloud was over the fucking moon when general sephiroth said "good job" to him. he was OBSESSED.
