I don’t want to end Amazon, because it provides an incredibly useful service to the disabled community, the elderly, and those who simply don’t have time to go shopping due to working three jobs and the like. There currently isn’t a major alternative on the market that is the same level of cheap and accessible.

What I do want to do is enforce some goddamn antitrust laws on major web-based companies like Amazon and Google and Facebook, and roll back their attempts at monopolizing entire industries, and make them pay their lowest-rung workers a fair wage and stop running their warehouses like a scene from a dystopian nightmare.

so here is what NOT to do if you’re a loyal fan of adobe who has the cash to shell out for a newer and shittier version of the product you already paid for.

1) DON’T use your search bar to find and open the Run app

2) DON’T type in services.msc

3) DON’T find Adobe Genuine Software Integrity Services and right-click to get a dropdown menu, and don’t select ‘properties’

4) if you happen to click properties, DON’T use the startup type dropdown to locate the option to disable the program. be sure you DON’T click apply to finalize that change.

5) DO NOT do the same thing in order to also disable Adobe Genuine Software Monitor

if you do all of these things, this WILL disable adobe’s ability to monitor the software, and you will be forced to continue using the same older software that you already paid for instead of having to sign up for a newer, shittier version and pay more for it. so if you have lots of cash to spare and are cool with putting it the pockets of racketeering capitalists, definitely don’t do any of these things.

however, you SHOULD reblog this to spread the word, as we certainly want to make sure lots of people know what NOT to do :)

Jessica’s Body is just higher budget Ginger Snaps

Today marks exactly a month. A month since a speeding car took my best friend and grumpy old man baby away from us. A month since our hearts broke into a million pieces. These are some of the last photos I took of him: being a derp on our pouf, hiding out in his favorite shady spot, being adorable in the hopes that it’d make him get dinner faster (it backfired. I stopped to take pictures), getting cozy under our blankets, reminding Maddie that everything in the house is actually his, sunbathing, and hanging out with his best neighborhood cat friend, Michael Cera. Every day still hurts like the day we lost him, and I don’t think there will ever be a day when I don’t feel the hole created by his absence. He was a singular feline and an impossibly wonderful companion. Through the endless layers of grief we’re feeling, we’re also incredibly grateful to have been able to share as much time with him as we did. We have the @bcspca to thank for that. And that’s why we’ve set up a fundraising page in his honor. We hope to help raise $1000 so that other families can know the joy of being adopted by an animal and so more animals can find their forever homes. The moai have been standing JUST fine in the open in the island for literal centuries. Believe it or not, the Rapa Nui are NOT stupid; they know their island, how to live in it, and what materials and treatment to those materials do or do not last in the island they’ve called their home for ages. The moai are MADE to be “outside in the elements”.

And preserved for whom? I’m sure my ancestors wouldn’t feel it’s preservation to have a LIVING piece of their culture stolen by colonizers and kept away from them all this fucking long when I assure you, no one asked for their permission to take it in the first place.

That’s not fucking “preserving”, that’s just fucking stealing, and a loss of culture for the Rapa Nui.

Imagine this. Your grandmother has a ring she made. There’s a very particular way of making the ring that she employed, one that’s been handed down through your family line for centuries. It’s a beautiful ring. One day, when she’s not home, someone comes into your house, steals the ring, and puts it in a museum. When you ask for it back, they go “but it’s beautiful! And the technique is one we’ve never seen! Surely it belongs somewhere everyone can see it!” And yeah, the ring is beautiful, but it’s important to you because she used to play with it when she would tell you stories. Maybe, if the museum had asked for the ring, allowed you to write the description so it honored your grandmother, given you a choice in the matter, you might have considered donating it. Hell, if they had commissioned a piece from you using the same technique you probably would have been ecstatic to show your family’s art to the world. But they didn’t. They stole it. And to add insult to injury, they won’t even admit that they did so. This is what has happened with the Easter Island heads. And this is why they should give them back.
