Adrien: oh, I know! plagg, you were there. how did it actually go?
Plagg: idk man I was drunk 😬
but Gloob releasing an episode in English for the first time and it's the also the first to be partially happening in Brazil??? it's so ironic, so funny. the Brazilian girl speaking perfect English and heavily accented Portuguese too 🤣 it's not that hard to find Portuguese speaking voice actors in the US, com'on 10/10
LUKA WHAT WERE YOU GOING TO DO. LUKA COME BACK HERE. LUKA
I caught my 1.5 yo doing this while playing with Ladybug and Cat Noir. I thought "that's funny, looks like they're kissing". Then my toddler started chanting "kiss! kiss! kiss!"
I've got the youngest ever confirmed ladynoir shipper 🐞🐈⬛
oh, hey, it’s adrinette → day 206
per tradition, I bought some miraculous kinder surprise this year. I let my infant son play with the little cat noir that came with it. as he threw the poor kitty across the floor, I realized the scene looked familiar...
looks like baby August has been akumatized again
fast forward to today and my son's is the tiniest ladybug super fan. he asks for the theme song before bed. he clutches his ladybug figurine and takes her everywhere

I'm being forced to take a break from work and I'm genuinely upset it's happening too early in the day and that means @buggachat hasn't updated Open My Eyes yet

sooo I finally got around to read the Renegades trilogy by Marissa Meyer after having it recommended to me as a Miraculous fan
I gotta say, I didn't expect the similarities to be so intense! let's look at Nova for example. not only she reminds me of Maribug physically (black hair, blue eyes), but she fights with her own quirky inventions, which smells awfully like Lucky Charm to me. and Adrian... for starters, his name is a letter away from Adrien, but also, he's sunshine boy who is still grieving the loss of his mother. alas, instead of 1 (one) deadbeat father, he's got 2 (two) loving dads
then again, Nova and Adrian are not Marinette and Adrien. she's not fashionable. he's not insecure. but I liked them just the same
if you're also looking for a good slow burn enemy/friends to lovers, Renegades is definitely up there. the political plot is lackluster, but who cares, it's hella romantic
while I was reading I kept having déjà vu, like "wait, I knew this was going to happen" or "yeah, I remember this happening". turns out when I first got recommended the series I read the whole plot on Wikipedia because "who has time to read 3 books??". well, a nap-trapped new mom does 😂 I swear I forgot every spoiler I read and still got surprised by the twists
someone else had the ebook copies from my library so I had to settle for the audio books and I'm so glad that was the case. the narrators were amazing. they conveyed emotions so well. they had a slightly different tone for each character and brought them to life. they sped up in action packed scenes and slowed down in emotional ones. 10/10
spoilers ahead. I said "the political plot is lackluster" and I'd like to vent a little about it. there are two points of view in the books: Adrian and Nova, Renegades and Anarchists. for the most part the narrative was working on a "gray area", "look, both sides make mistakes and cause pain" and "there's no good or evil". that is, until the very last chapters, in which suddenly "jk, Ace Anarchy is cartoonishly evil and killed his own family and wants to be god". nevermind that the Renegades did human experiments without consent, imprisoned a minor without so much as a trial, and planned on executing said minor publicly with ice shards. they're the good guys! the only path to happiness is to become one of them and be accepted into their family
so much potential wasted... I wanted to see Adrian realizing Renegades weren't perfect; I wanted Adrian and Nova to start a resistance and question the council. alas, they are happily ever aftering on their parade float

Watched the MLB movie and I just. I WANT to gush about it but the fact that Marinette’s regular voice actor and her singing voice actor sound SO different just took me out of it every time and left me feeling very disengaged;; At least Adrien’s singing voice kind of sounds like his speaking voice (and Gabriel’s is 👌 bc my king Keith Silverstein can actually sing and he can sing REALLY fucking well) but Marinette’s. The voices are COMPLETELY different and it threw me off every single time. Like obviously her singing voice is really good and I understand why they picked that person to do her songs but bro you could have at least TRIED to get someone that sounds similar to Cristina Vee. It drove me nuts every time she sang bc I was like “That is CLEARLY a different person entirely!!”
I’m realizing this might have been a dubbing issue but still 😭 I feel like I would have enjoyed the movie way more if it didn’t look like Marinette was lip syncing the entire time bc there was such a huge disconnect between her speaking and singing voice
