“Maven Calore is empty”
!! SPOILER WARNING TO ANYONE WHO HASN’T READ WAR STORM !!
I just feel like the way the book ended wasn’t right. Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with Maven dying but the way he did just didn’t suit him. I felt as if she was trying to end everything too quickly and easily. Maven is such a complex character and saying he is empty is plainly wrong. We’ve read to much about his past and thoughts to believe that he’s just evil. She could have done so much more with his character. I always felt like she was working towards him redeeming himself (maybe not fully but at least a bit). And with regard to that I’ve been completely disappointed. Why make me learn so much of his tragic past? Why let me know how complex and messed up his thoughts are? Why build up so much tension? I was expecting a plot twist and in the end nothing happened. Saying he’s empty was extremely anticlimactic to what she has shown us of Maven before. Everything seemed so forced like she really wanted me to not like Maven.
I still liked reading War Storm a lot and I do understand that it’s Victoria’s decision how she wants to end the series. I’m just stating my opinion and if you disagree, that’s alright as long as you don’t start hating.
