I was having difficulty deciding who Steph's parent would be for a silly little set of crossover headcanons, and I was having trouble picking between these three, so I made that poll.
I quickly decided I couldn't wait that long and gave it another shot, and came up with Hermes too!
I was thinking of Arthur being the replaced parent, and Athena clashed with that, and is also more serious. I wasn't eager to make Apollo her godly parent either because I had made a few other Batfamily members children of Apollo, and I want some variety even though they are family, so there are going to be similarities.
Athena's proficiency with strategic planning kept her on the top potential three list.
Apollo of course is very about music, and art, and healing, and while his personality matched well enough, the arts and healing (from what I can recall) aren't Steph's main things.
I came across a Reddit(?) reply to a question a fan had asked one of Steph's writers (I think), and they said something about wanting to include Steph's proficiency for strategy a bit more in future works, so that was on my mind.
That left Hermes, of messages, travel, thieves, and I was struggling to find a good reason to pick him. One intriguing detail is how overlooked Hermes is. There's Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Artemis and Apollo, Aphrodite, and other gods that I feel are a bit more prevalent in media.
Hermes, while capable and outstanding with some of his relatives aside, is similar to Stephanie. A good character, but not often put in the spotlight. Clever, as evident in his childhood run in with Apollo and his cattle, and goofy, like his depiction in the Hercules movie.
Mostly though he seemed the best fit above the others.
