Was there ever a push back against writing the independent New Vegas ending of FNV? I can't imagine the game without it and the hope it brings for not recreating systems of injustice of the old world, but I imagine there may have been people who got nervous about that ending to a game that many people view as allegorical to western invasions in the Middle East, particularly US foreign policy. If there was resistance to it, how did you overcome it? Also your work inspires me as a storyteller

Thank you.  No, there was no resistance to it that I remember.  I don’t remember how/where it came up in development, but in my mind, players in an RPG - tabletop or otherwise - always appreciate a “none of the above” option.  In F:NV, the three main factions all have a core ideology, but even if you agree with one of those ideologies, they also have flaws that are consonant with the type of ideology/government/use of power they represent.

So I always thought it was important to give the player an option to go their own way / leave the power up to the subordinate communities of the Mojave.
