let it be known that anakin struggled with his jedi identity in the PT era not only because of the war, or the growing darkness, or palpatine’s grooming, but also because he could not give up actual practice of compassion and empathy—the essence of a true jedi. the order told him that he needs to be detached, and stoic but he could never be that, he has seen and been the people who needed the jedi to be the way he was. it was not just forbidding of love and attachment, it was the rigidity that wasn’t truly serving the galaxy. it was the ceding of moral authority to a corrupt senate. it was the ignorance.
and I do see the PT-era order embodying the better qualities of a true jedi too. but alas, they had lost the core essence of it by the time of PT.
maybe anakin wasn’t a good PT-era jedi. but then, the PT-era jedi themselves weren’t the best versions to emulate, and could actually have benefitted from learning a thing or two from the chosen one. maybe things would have turned out different then.
