Follow me @jessgetsfit for daily real life motivation towards a healthy lifestyle! A little about me: I'm 28 and a recovering binge eater. Just about every second of every day is spent thinking about food or my body. So I'm trying to learn to love my body on this journey to a healthier me and develop a healthy relationship with food along the way. I'm down 30 pounds so far! 30 more to go! Lunch today (pictured): Soup and salad is a protein packed favorite of mine. It keeps me satisfied all the way to dinner! Salad is romaine topped with tomatoes, almonds, red onion, green apple, carrots, grilled chicken and balsamic vinaigrette. Soup is Progresso's Tomato Florentino with Italian Sausage. Might not eat it all right now because this is a lot of food! Nothing wrong with packing up leftovers for dinner tonight 💜
I can not stress it enough:
IT IS NOT A DIET, IT IS A LIFESTYLE CHANGE!!! I absolutely hate when people are like “oh yeah you can’t have that because you’re on a diet”. No. I can have whatever I want, I don’t want that unhealthy food because I’m changing my life by loving my body and fuelling it with what it needs. Okay? Okay.
And if I do eat a cookie, don’t get all snarky saying “Oh, I thought you were on a diet?!” Moderation is a thing, and sometimes we need a cookie for our mind and souls.
^this
This sums up what I have been thinking perfectly.
One of my favorite things ever. Mixed green salad with grilled chicken, apples, almonds and balsamic vinaigrette 😊💗
My first bikini in MANY years. It's high-waisted because #selfconscious but it's cute! I am not sure I have the courage to wear this in public yet. It's a bit snug for an XL...then again it's from China where sizes typically run smaller than US. Anyway...play nice but....what do you think?
My latest Stitch Fix box....I'm getting all of it. Yep. Sure does feel good to properly fit into it finally! (Sorry for the gross mirror!)
BLTS and chip craving!! Sometimes you can't say no to the craving. When that happens, do the best you can! I swapped bread out for a spinach wrap and am eating veggie straws instead of potato chips. Yummy!
Golden girls are everything.
I was tagged by @apologizetothetree to do a Stop Drop and Selfie! I’m at the park with kids soaking up the first real Spring day! Loving this warm and breezy weather! Time to get some steps in 💪🌞😊

Exactly. Get that part figured out and you've about got it beat! 💯
Hey y'all! Hope you're having a good day and taking care of yourself. Hope you're not beating yourself up over a bad choice or for skipping a day of exercise....or 20. There's always a do over button. For me, my do over button was about 15 minutes after I indulged in some birthday cake. I knew the cake was coming. It's my daughter's 4th birthday today. I allowed myself a small piece. Once that sugar hit my brain I could feel myself leaning towards another slice. So...I hopped on my exercise bike for 30 minutes. After that I was hungry so I had some vegetable straws (y'all if ya haven't tried them...you're missing out! 38 in a serving and not too bad for you!) Had some almonds too. Again I could feel an overeating episode coming on so I got myself a glass of water. And for the time being....I beat binge eating. You can and will, too 💪
Here's just an example of what some meals/snacks look like for me throughout a week. The top is the produce for a juice I made (that'd be hard to eat in one sitting!) Notice how I don't deprive myself of a pancake with syrup once in a while or even tacos! If it's made at home, the portions are easier to control plus you have total control of how the food is made. I get mean Taco bell cravings. Sometimes I cave and go to the Bell..but most of the time I just make it at home. The point? You can still see great results with weightloss while "cheating" by balancing your food out...think 70/30. 70% of the time you eat healthy and workout. 30% of the time you cave and eat something you want and don't necessarily need. I ate clean all day today, but tonight I'm having a no sugar added scoop of caramel vanilla ice cream in a cone. Boom.
A progress photo I just threw together to keep me on track right now. I tell ya, my struggle with binge eating is HARD. Nearly every minute of every day is consumed with food-related thoughts. Should I eat now? Can I eat now? Will I regret eating that? Do I care? I should exercise that off. Etc etc. It’s exhausting! Right now I’m struggling to stay motivated not to binge on freaking veggie straws…and popcorn….and Goldfish..and Luna bars. So I stare at how far I’ve come and remind myself..it’s not worth it to cave into my temporary cravings and sabotage my hard work! I've eaten decently today and do not want to unravel an entire days worth of discipline! Have you experienced this? Tell me about your experience! I love to chat with folks who get it!
Christmas 2015 vs Christmas 2016 I believe I was between 195 and 200 pounds in the 1st picture. On the right I’m 185 pounds. Oh the difference those 10/15 pounds of fat can make! Since Christmas I’ve been at a bit of a standstill with my weightloss. For the past several months I’ve teetered between 180 and 185 pounds. As of late I’m ranging 178-181! That’s a change in the right direction. No, the number isn’t everything. But it helps me stay motivated to focus on weight goals every month. For instance, I am aiming for 177 pounds on March 31 😊💪 My favorite way to motivate myself is through progress pictures though! So if you’re on a journey to get fit, take pictures! 😘
Running low on breakfast items this morning so had to make do with what I had. I'm absolutely obsessed with this cranberry cheese. The entire meal has about 12 g of protein. I think I'm gonna have a protein shake in an hour or so. And even though I feel like crud, I'm going to attempt a low intensity workout. I haven't worked out in a few days, nearly a week!! Ah! I hate being sick but my body needs rest to get better. But I gotta do something - anything!
2015 vs today (3/17/17) This road to weightloss has been a bumpy road....very bumpy. I've been as high as 209 pounds and have "failed" many many times in my attempts to lose weight. Today I can say I'm the lowest weight I've been since my oldest child was born - 179 pounds. I still have a ways to go, but already I'm feeling the benefits of being 30 pounds lighter and leaner. I'll talk more about my methods soon!
