For anyone confused there was a sudden and dramatic shift in the country music genre. It used to be a genre fixated on the experiences of people. Lived or common experiences that resonated with the common people. It was music that you listened to and it thrummed in tune to your soul because you had lived it yourself. And a lot of that was about ordinary people getting ground up in the gears of society.

The hyper patriotism, beer, and trucks chimera we have now didn't show up until after 9/11 and the world is lesser for it

I keep hoping that one day, maybe people will stop this reductionist, patently absurd "an entire genre became crap overnight on a specific day I can point to on a calendar" bullshit about country music and actually, like, listen to it once before they open their goddamn mouths, or hell, even just think about how that would make no fucking sense. what do you think happened to artists who were making music both before and after the magic date when everything went from good to bad? did they die? was there a mass extinction of country artists on September 12, 2001?

just look at the last few years. the country charts have been dominated by a combination of bittersweet storytelling songs like "I Remember Everything", "Something in the Orange", and "Fast Car"; working-class party songs like "A Bar Song" and "Texas Hold Em", both of those being by Black artists btw!; and love and heartbreak songs like "The Painter", "Rock and a Hard Place", and "Forever After All".

if you look past the songs hitting #1 on radio play you'll find that the years since 2001 have given us songs about everything from dealing with depression and suicidality to accepting everyone without judgment to, yes, how much it sucks having a boss and being a cog in the machine!

you fuckers heard about one dumbshit Toby Keith/The Chicks drama from 20 years ago and decided an entire genre was destroyed and frankly you would not have been so fucking stupid if it hadn't been a genre that was already stereotyped as unserious music for the uncultured lower classes.

I would like to see more people talk about how jobs treat disabled employees.

I used to prep, wash dishes, and cook at mellow mushroom. I had chronic pain that wasn't NEARLY as bad as it is today, but it was still very debilitating. I told my employer "i cannot stand more than 4 to 6 hours. I CANNOT do shifts longer than this due to my illness." And even though i made my boundaries VERY clear, everyday i worked it was 8 hours at the least and 10 or 12 at the most. I would go up to my manager and say "look i really need to leave, my shift is over, my chronic pain is killing me." And he'd say "we really need to here, you HAVE to push through." And so i did, and after one, ONE month of that job my crps got incredibly worse to the point where i could no longer walk my dog around the block which was .5 miles. I quit, and that was FOUR years ago, and ever since that day I HAVE BEEN BEDRIDDEN AND HAVE TO USE A WHEELCHAIR. It is my biggest regret in life.

My best friend who has seen my whole journey has recently developed undiagnosed chronic pain, and she is in the EXACT same scenario i was 4 years ago. Busting her ass at a pizza place with extreme pain that hurts her so much she tells me "im in so much pain i don't even feel like a person." She doesn't feel LUCID. And her manager and coworkers are saying the same thing "if you don't help us you will let us down, we'll be in the shit."

That job thats hurting you isn't fucking worth it. I promise you no money is worth losing all your physical abilities and never getting them back. Your coworkers and boss do not give a shit about you, so don't you dare suffer for them. They will never understand your struggle and they will never try. They truly think being understaffed is worse than whatever pain you experience. They would rather you permanently damage yourself than inconvenience them. FUCK THEM. DON'T FUCKING DO IT!

just remembered that i dreamed this morning that i attended a funeral but i had insider knowledge (from listening in on a phone conversation) of foul play related to the death in question. after the funeral i tried to present my information to the local inspector (king k rool) but my attempts to talk to him were drawn out over several days by his extreme sleepiness. he was constantly going to bed super early & asking me to close his blinds for him (he had over a dozen separate windows in his office)
