“Dad come on. What about all those stories. You always hinted that you were such a ladies man.” Sean said with a look on the edge of worry. “Do what you always do. Say, ‘I’m sorry babe.’ Sean mimicked in an excellent imitation of his father’s voice. “Or,” He said hopefully snapping his fingers. “Buy her something nice.” He said quickly. It was one thing to rebel and another entirely to actually watch all the carnage he had caused. He dropped his eyes to the floor, “I’ll go to military school.“ He looked up a plea in his eyes. "Okay? I respect you. And I’ll go. No matter what mom says. If you apologize.”

Sam turned to regard the young man feeling less like apologizing then he did before. "Son, presents can’t solve every problem.” His words were gentle but firm. “Your mother and I are just…” he cut off, hand running across his shaved smoothed face. As he regarded the young man worriedly. “This is just a little dust-up.” He told Sean, one large hand reaching out to take his shoulder. “It doesn’t change anything at all between your mother and I. And even if it did. It won’t change how we both feel about you. Okay?”

“Why isn’t it?” Mercedes asked defensively as she shifted on the bed, leaning against on of her hands as she turned a little. Mercedes snorted at Sage “I can’t fit some things” she specified with the little girl. “Stop eavesdropping on me and my sisters” she told her with a smirk. “I am pregnant, so… by default mommy can’t fit what she could before, but me complaining is just small talk” she shrugged off as she looked to the girl. “That doesn’t mean we can’t play dress up together” she said. “Sage…” she started before she shook her head “you aren’t going anywhere. Never, ever” she said caressing her small cheek. “Mommy and daddy love you so, so much” she stressed. “And we love each other so, so much!” she added. “We’ve been married for a very long time, a very, very, very long time, but sometimes we do have… disagreements. That’s all…” she breathed out moving one hand to her rounded stomach. “Okay?” she asked. “You brother had no business telling you something like that, because it is not true. And if anything ever happened to mommy and daddy, you’d still be ours, and we’d still love you all more than anything in this entire World!”

Sage looked to Mercedes “because, you are a grown up” she told her truthfully. Sage giggled “you never see me” she confirmed with her mother simply as she shifted towards her more leaving her doll behind. “Small talk?” she questioned looking to her confused. “Maybe a tea party instead?” she asked her mom. Sage looked to her mother as she spoke and she nodded her head “okay, mommy” she said. “Because I love you and daddy a bunch. And you guys being mad at each other makes all of us very sad” she told her. “No more fighting from you guys right?”

Anastasia Storozhilova, a 23-year-old engineer who works in the office, thought the stunt was so adorable that she tweeted a photograph from the party, writing, “Today at the office we hanged a black man.” Soon thereafter, she deleted the image. Then she deleted her Twitter account. Then she deleted her Facebook account. And then she made her Instagram account private.

Before disappearing from Twitter, Storozhilova briefly tried to defend her office’s antics, arguing that there’s no use trying to “invent” a racist theme in the photograph.

“I can explain what’s happening in the photo: it was a scene from history. The Wild West: cowboys, Indians, blacks. It’s history, you see. It’s the past—it’s not today. They show this sort of thing in movies—this and a lot worse,”
