Advice from the 3 year old I nanny on wanting to become a doctor: "Go ahead!"

While waiting in line to check out after thrifting, an older lady in front of me says “nice find” about a wool skirt I had draped over my arm. I took the opportunity to ask what I would wear with it, because I am not the most fashionable shopper out there. She proceeded to list fancy names of shirts I could wear with it and then how to dry clean the skirt at home using a dryer. She told me that it is always important to look your best so you feel good about yourself. She said she sold art in a gallery in New York City and, when she looked put together she could sell anything. 

I really enjoyed talking to this lady, so I thanked her for the fashion advice as I passed her on the way out. She shook my hand, told me that my mom had to teach me how to sew before I went back to school, and kissed my cheek. So sweet! I’m sure I’ll remember her years from now when I am picking out an outfit for work. Sometimes you find more than good deals when you go thrifting!

Anyone who feels like putting their body through hell should try burpee broad jumps. As if burpees weren’t bad enough.

My sister is in town and it's July 4th weekend and I don't have to work! Have yourself a great day; I know I will!

My sister is leaving today to move in before she starts med school. I am so proud of her! We’ll be at the same school again, except she will have zero time to hang. 4 years to MD for her, 7 year for me!

I've been so absent recently, but I still want to share this! Sunday I ran my second half marathon! I definitely didn't train as well as my first one so I'm satisfied with my time. There were so many hills this year. I did the same one last year, but this was a completely different course! My friends were at mile 11 and it was the greatest thing to have them there cheering with their signs. When it started to get tough at mile 9, I just thought "make it to your friends, don't let them see you walk, you can make it to 11". Once I got to them, I got a boost of energy. There was a huge, never ending uphill right before the finish, like 0.3 miles up, 0.1 miles down to the finish. I so badly wanted to stop on the hill but I was also so close to the finish. Yo girl didn't stop!!
