“I guess you did. They are known to malfunction when drinks are spilled on them as with most things requiring electricity. Maybe don’t throw your drinks this time around,” Jon suggested as he finished adjusting the new bulb.

Cael thought about lying, though the look on his face probably gave him away, “Fine – I wanted to see if I could recreate this potion. Instead, something caught fire and something else exploded and I’m guessing that’s what’s lodged into the vent,” he said finally, looking embarrassed, “It seemed like a good idea when I started it.”
“A good idea until fumes start emanating from the vent. I think I got most of it out,” Jon said, having volunteered a hand when he saw Cael needed one. “What potion were you trying to recreate?”

“I’m just the bartender.” Henry finished wiping off a spot on the counter, brushing his curls away form his forehead and pressing his fingers there in momentary frustration. “Some drunk asshole threw a bottle at it last night.”
“Well, tap that doesn’t work isn’t much help to anyone, is it?” he asked wryly, leaning over the bar slightly to fiddle with the handle.

“Well, I’m no mechanic, Brandon, but let’s see if this works,” Jonathan said, attempting to reconnect one of the wires.

“Right, well, first mistake was trying to get the gunk out without cleaning here,” Jon said, wiping down crusted bits of sauce blocking the mouth of the shooter. “Once you do that, should be easier to get out after we add some water to it-- liquifies and swishes around whatever other crap’s stuck there.”

“Yeah, shit, I haven’t seen him in ages so he must be. He’s doin’ good, though?” It seemed like forever since Nate had seen his younger brother. Clearly he needed to make more of an effort to hang out with him. Jon raced up the stairs like he was eager to get to the files but Nate wasn’t in such a rush and took the stairs one at a time. Nate snorted at the comment. “You’re pretty much the only one who is, but sounds fair.”
“He is-- busy as ever, clearly, but he’s doing good work. Yeah, well, I try. The box we’re looking for is blue and should have 1987 on the side.”

“I – accidentally… threw something against it.” A lie. He had simply gotten too frustrated in finding something he had thrown stuff. His anger issues had began to surface in the last few months. A fact he wasn’t so proud of. “You can fix it?”
“I can certainly try-- I hope it wasn’t valuable if the alternative should prove true.” Jon was good at fixing things but this looked rather done in.

“Ripley actually. I locked myself out and I was going to just call a locksmith but she was really excited about kicking the door in. Thing is, now I can’t get the new one closed because, well, you see why.” Bent hinges would not work for anything. Fatal flaw in that idea. “It is easy to fix right? I do have nosy neighborss.”
“Well, she definitely did a number on the door,” he said with a slight chuckle. “In my non-professional, professional opinion, I’d say that you’ll need it repaired anyway, sorry Alecta-- it’s too bent here-- might as well call an expert because I’m not sure how long this sort of repair takes and it’s definitely not my skill set.”

Summer’s head turned as a familiar voice called her name. It made the sting of having the stranger she’d approached ignore her lessen just a little. “Jonathan,” she greeted with a nod. “Yeah, I’m trying to head to work, but my own idiocy is getting the best of me. A ride would be amazing, I am way too new to be late and get away with it. My um, my badge is in my purse though, which is also in the car. Do you think I’ll be able to get in without it?”
“We all have those days, Summer, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You’ll be fine, they can just call up your ID number or name and there’ll be a picture.”

“I might have to-- I’m not even sure what he did to it. There’s a rattling there, do you hear that? I think it might be a loose screw on the inside or something.”

“Maybe you should’ve tried unplugging it, Sophia,” Jon said, somewhat amused. He dragged the table from the wall and leaned behind it slightly to pull the plug. “There, problem solved,” he said with a satisfied smile before looking back at the imp with a raised brow. “Would you like me to show you how to use it properly? To avoid the overflow in the future?”

“I suppose red would be more suited to you?” he arched a brow, what he was getting at pretty clear before nodding at the other. The shifter went back to his office, putting away files he’d been reviewing before grabbing his jacket and keys and, a few minutes later, met Malachi out front of the hospital, by passing a few incoming patients. “Don’t you have other friends to go out with, Malachi?” He asked, stuffing his hands in his pocket as he fell in step beside the vampire, still not all that sure why he was intent on him having a good time but recalled Ripley’s words that he should have more of it, but whether or not that was possible remained to be seen.
