My wife’s idea of decompressing after the busy holiday was to rearrange every piece of furniture in our home is this an ADHD thing or just a her thing
I’m not complaining the way she’s done it is much better than it was it’s just like how is this your idea of a relaxing weekend
Listen I don't get to decide when the drunk elf that is my executive actually does the functioning but when he does we have a SMALL WINDOW OF TIME before he finds the schnapps again and we're done
yes this exactly
So to me, there are spoons (general energy cost) and carnival tickets (specific energy cost).
Spoons can be used pretty much anywhere.
Carnival tickets are only good for the carnival, and it’s only in town for a limited amount of time.
So like, if I get “kitchen cleaning” carnival tickets, I can’t use that to clean my bedroom, that’s not where the carnival is.

"Oh yeah, we have an outdoor Corgi, he just gets so bored cooped up inside all day. He knows to stay off the road. Don't worry, he's way too smart for coyotes and the neighbor's know to look out when they drive past."
"Us? Oh, of *course* our Dachshund sleeps inside- we just let him out in the morning and make sure he comes back for dinner. He just does his own thing, no worries."
"Um, you know it's not humane to keep a chihuahua confined to an apartment? They're dogs, they're natural predators. They need to experience hunting behaviors or they get depressed. No we don't leash ours, he absolutely hates it, we just let him come and go whenever."
Yall get how fucking stupid that sounds, right? So stop letting your goddamn cats get eaten and attacked and infected and hit by cars
A toddler would probably love full unattended access to the neighborhood too, but we don't do that either, do we
It's 2026, "keep your damn pet in a house or in your view" should not be controversial

Finnish is not a Slavic language, it's not even an Indo-European language. That makes Finnish more linguistically distant from Ukrainian than Punjabi or Kurdish.
So it was impressive when Yussi Halla-aho, Speaker of Finland's Parliament (Suomen eduskunta) delivered a speech in Ukrainian to Ukraine's Parliament, the Verkhovna Rada (Верховна Рада України), in Kyiv.
Finnish Parliament Speaker Yussi Halla-aho gave an address entirely in the Ukrainian language when speaking before the Verkhovna Rada on Saturday. He was among the speakers from six EU countries and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly president invited to address the Rada that day. Halla-aho began, “Finland in 1939 faced the same kind of imperialist Russian aggression from the Soviet Union as Ukraine is facing today. On February 24, we Finns remembered well our own history.”
Just a reminder that Finland was invaded by Stalin in 1939. That invasion did not go well for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics which is still revered by Vladimir Putin. Two months after Russia's invasion of Ukraine began, Rachel Maddow devoted most of this piece to what has become known as The Winter War (Talvisota) between the USSR and Finland.
Back to Speaker Halla-aho's visit to the Verkhovna Rada...
He expressed disappointment that after the Cold War and collapse of the USSR, “Russia did not change. As before, it still does not respect international law or its obligations. It does not value the lives of its own citizens or others.” Halla-aho continued: “Russia believes it has the right to veto the choices of its neighbors, even the right to veto their very existence. Russia respects and understands only strength.” “Finland has already delivered 20 packages of military assistance to Ukraine and will continue supporting it as long as necessary,” Halla-aho stated. [ ... ] Throughout his address, Ukrainian MPs frequently interrupted Halla-aho with loud applause and standing ovations.
Theocratic Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson should listen to his fellow Speaker rather than flying down to Mar-a-Lago to kiss Donald Trump's butt when it comes to Ukraine.
Countries which have had to endure a nearby Russia for the past 300 years know a lot more about how to deal with their imperialistic neo-colonialist neighbor than Western tankies, MAGA zombies, and dilettante billionaires.
BONUS TRACK: If Speaker Yussi Halla-aho can give a speech in Ukrainian, perhaps you can manage a few simple phrases.
