Just putting a few words into the ether because I was reading an old fic of mine, just trying to stir up some creative juices, try to convince myself that I really can do this, that I’m just rusty. But I realized something as I was threatening to despair that I’d never be this good again.
I won’t get back to being that writer. I may get back into writing. No, I will get back into writing, but the writer I become won’t be that writer. I may write masterpieces someday, but there’s still something about the magic of that time that will be lost. And maybe it’s okay to mourn that. Maybe I need to mourn the loss of that writer so I can move on and become the writer I will be.
but how can I do this five minute task if I'm leaving in thirty minutes
Where are all the Calvin and Hobbes enjoyers??

Hi to the people saying he has a triforce too please look at this tweet by the boy's mother and the beader of his regalia.
Story time:
Back in the summer of 2019, I was doing fabulous. I had just lost 60 pounds and was working out regularly and doing great at my job and connected with my family and actually had an appointment with my psychiatrist to discuss going off antidepressants. And then one afternoon, I was hit with an intense headache. A headache that didn’t go away for a year and a half. Chronic migraines or cluster headaches- I never got a clear answer.
I remember very little from that time. It was, in a word, exhausting. I remember that I would make the bed every morning because then at least I would have done something with my day. I could go on and on about the absolute hell that is chronic severe pain, but I’ll spare you.
Then in December of 2020, a miracle happened. I got pregnant and the migraines all but went away. That baby is now almost a year and a half old, and I just started the process of weaning him off the boob.
All this to say, finally, after three and a half years, I’m starting to feel like myself again. I do miss my daytime oxytocin fixes, but I’m actually wanting to write. My sex drive seems to be returning. More sleep would be nice, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Hello, me. It’s good to see you again.

I don’t know if anyone’s still out there, but if you are, this fic is finished.
I simply think that if a company decides to remove a show from their platform entirely, they should have to give the rights and the digital copy of that show back to the creators. The fact that the creators of Infinity Train, OKKO, and Mao Mao have no access to the work they put so much money and effort into is completely absurd.
Actually I’m not done talking about this.
When a creator sells the rights to their work to a streaming company, they do so with the understanding that the company is going to host their work on the streaming service. If that content is no longer hosted by the streaming service, the streaming company should not be able to retain the rights to that work. The rights should be returned to the creator, as should and physical or digital copies of the show that the streaming service had, so the creator can try to sell it to other streaming companies or host it themselves into heir own site. The fact that this isn’t the case is absolutely fucking ridiculous.
this should also apply to ebooks going out of print
the concept of an ebook 'going out of print' is an obscenity tbh

Whoever bought this Victorian home in London got a nice surprise in the attic.
It’s a beautiful home and sold for over $3M.
There was nothing out of the ordinary.
Nice kitchen.
Comfortable rooms.
And, lovely grounds.
Beautiful.
But, it had this awkward little attic space, so the previous owner went up there.
With a bunch of old 90s computers and things, and built a space ship for his kids. Coolest dad ever.

at the risk of sounding like a raving lunatic, i think one of my favorite trekkie memes/posts is that one where someone comments on a screenshot of tos and asks if sulu is texting, because it PERFECTLY encapsulates star trek's strange little place at the intersection of pop culture and the tech world:
like listen... 55+ years ago a bunch of actors had to use a mix of existing habits and wild imagination to come up with what they felt would be believable movements and muscle-memory for someone using completely unbelievable tech a few hundred years in the future. like tv had less than ten channels and the screen was a foot across, and they had to go "ok how would someone who's used to a tiny wireless gadget with a screen hold it and use it? how would they talk to a computer? how would the computer sound when she talked back?"
and over half a century later our own tech has surpassed the clunky retrofuture gizmos in so many ways, no doubt inspired by it, that now someone two decades into the 21st century sees an actor in the 60s holding some tiny rectangular plastic prop in both hands and immediately recognizes it as "oh, sulu's texting!" now THAT is a called shot. hell, that's putting your money on a roulette wheel in a casino that hasn't been built yet. i LOVE it. it's so star trek. sulu is absolutely texting.
The thing I love about Star Trek is that it didn’t predict the future so much as cause it.
Just rediscovered potentially the funniest thing I’ve written in recent memory
Imagine if people wrote all their Les Mis modern aus in the style of Victor Hugo

I’m thinking about doing NaNo. It might just be the kick in the pants I need.
They need to invent a breast pump that can be used while napping.
The blue effect is also how Tide works, so if you can’t find the bluing products shown in the video, you can try using Tide. Regardless of what you use though it works because the blue helps color correct for yellowing that whites easily pick up. (Save Dawn for non clothes things though) (also if you have sensitive skin and use Tide, be sure to set for an extra rinse)
Vinegar is also really good for getting pet smells, including accidents, out.
Adding in a little borax powder to the drum is good for a detergent booster, especially if you have hard water issues.
i learned so many things so quickly! and that, friends, is one of my very favorite feelings
this is your daily reminder to write that fic! who cares if it’s a dying fandom, bring it back to life! who cares if you only have a sentence, you’ll get there don’t give up! who cares if it’s a self indulgent fic, we love to see it! who cares if it’s an overdone trope, you’re making it unique in your writing style! who cares if it takes you a month to write a fic and then you dip, you’re still writing and sharing your work and that’s what matters! who cares if you write for yourself and never post it, you’re still writing and getting your ideas down and that matters just as much as if you posted it! just keep writing, you got this <3
