dennis is sweet, kind, gentle, right? he is also not a morning person, it takes him at least 2 good solid hours for the sleep fog to clear up. and that's only if he has his 2 cups of iced coffee, a steaming hot shower and a simple yet filling breakfast, not all in that order.
anyone who knows him and finds this out later down the line has a field day with it because they have never seen dennis glare or grumpy and it might be even better than his little miss sunshine act.
dennis was actually pretty nervous the first time he slept over robby's house because while he knows this about himself, he cannot change it no matter what he does. he could have slept like a baby for a good solid 9 hours and still wake up cranky. hes always been shocked and a little disgusted in people who wake up and just start. start talking, start going, start moving, start fresh.
but the morning after, when he sees robby in the kitchen half asleep at the table and a hot coffee clutched to his chest, it makes dennis feel like he's home. robby squints at him with bleary eyes and grunts in greeting, a deep and husky "morning."
dennis grunts back, doesn't speak cause seriously he's only been awake for 4 minutes.
he gets his iced coffee, he starts off with a banana already planning on making some avocado toast after he's sat and had a couple of sips and bites.
he sits in the chair next to robby and makes a pleasantly surprised noise when robby curls into him automatically, head on dennis' shoulder, arms wrapped around his waist.
holy shit this is way better than he expected.
dennis sips, he chews, he swears robby starts to softly snore. dennis thinks he feels a little drool on his neck. after a comfortable and easy 15 minutes robby wakes with a snort, and they stand to make breakfast around each other.
all in all cuddling and getting drooled on is a really nice way to start the day. the hot shower sex made it even better. it still took two hours for dennis' sleep addled brain to clear up but having robby there with him, just as quiet and non verbal, made him think he could start to really like mornings.
