at least can all we agree that the original gay flag with the magic and sex colours is BEAUTIFUL and it should make a comeback
what’s more iconic than this
What about the final version of the flag by the original creator?
Gilbert Baker added a 9th stripe shortly before his death, with the new stripe representing diversity. He added this stripe in reaction to the 2016 US election. It’s unfortunately not as well known as the 8 and 6 striped versions.
Here’s an image of him sewing together the 9 striped rainbow flag.
Happy pride month everyone
CENTENE IS NO LONGER PROVIDING GENDER AFFIRMING CARE FOR TRANSGENDER PATIENTS. THIS IS A MAJOR INSURANCE PROVIDER FOR PATIENTS WHO ARE ON MEDICAID.
i am one of the people affected by this change. i am losing access to the care i need in order to live.
get mad. get other people mad. share this article with everyone. we cant keep fighting this shit alone or they will kill us
Having HRT can mean the difference between security and being driven from your home.
It's fascinating (and infuriating) to live in an age where almost everyone I know is languishing in Dickensian poverty but social media is slap full of professional-managerial computer-touchers who've never known hunger insisting that the economy is fine because their metrics say rich people are still rich.
A bad economist and a bad engineer are often bad in the same way; they're both people who, when reality doesn't conform to the model, decide to get mad at reality instead of adjusting the model
And they kill people
Dear Teaboot, how does one cope with hating their parent(s)?
You should know that I've written and erased a number of answers before coming to this conclusion.
Anger is not an emotion unto itself. Anger is an expression of fear, of helplessness, of frustration, of grief. Where there is Anger, there is something deeper, like the roots of a vine that might strangle you. If you cannot reach the roots, you will not kill the vine.
Anger, though, serves a purpose- to inspire urgency, to act, to move in the defense of self or others, to call out injustice.
Anger is only an evil when it is acted on without discipline. When it is allowed to become a reflex motivator, when it skips higher thought and speaks directly through the teeth and the hands. This is anger without control.
This question has forced me to ask myself if there is a difference between anger and hatred.
Is hatred irrational? Anger may be as well. Is hatred directed to the innocent? Anger can be, too. Is hatred akin to cruelty? Anger, again, is not innocent of needless suffering.
So what purpose must hatred serve, in pursuit of a just world? What can hatred do that anger cannot? What does it mean to hate something?
I'm not a scholar. I haven't studied these things academically. But thinking of my own experiences, and remembering the exact circumstances and contexts and the nuance of every little piece on the board, I can tell you that there was revulsion, and there was myself, and there was forces beyond my control.
I think that Hate is when anger fears it cannot win. I think Hate is when you are faced with something that you want to believe you have possibility of overcoming while suspecting in some way that you cannot. I think that Hate is when you are afraid of the thing that enrages you.
Hate, if you ask my opinion, is a bit like being mauled by a bear, knowing that you will not survive, and going for the eyes regardless, because it doesn't get to grow old and happy if you can't either.
Good for the continued existence of your peers. Bad for everything else.
So I suppose, if you are in a position where a bear is mauling you- metaphorically- hate probably isn't your biggest obstacle right now.
But if the bear is out there somewhere, on the other side of the forest, and you are sitting in a hole somewhere in a stiff rigor of rage and spite and terror, then I think it may be best for you to tell yourself now:
The bear will kill. Killing is in the nature of the bear, and a bear is helpless to change its nature. Knowing the nature of the bear, I will stay away from it, and deter it, and stay away from its path, and I will pity it for the nature it cannot compel itself to resist, and for the wonderful things it will never experience.
I do not need to fear the bear, because I understand its nature. I do not need to hate the bear, because I needn't fear it. All I must accept is that there is a bear, and it is wise to stay away from it.
It's unfortunate that the bear must live this way. It's unfortunate that you share your forest with a bear and not something kinder. But if you cannot change it, and it cannot change itself, then all you can do is accept that it is a bear.
And knowing that: be loud, travel with friends, and carry a big stick.
OP I needed your tags when I reblogged this and I hope that's okay. They spoke to me.
Very excited to finally share some pictures of my Dread Pirate Frogerts build! I've been thinking about making this outfit for my Kermit for a while now, but the proper motivation to actually get this done was hearing that Cary Elwes was announced as a guest for my local comic convention! So with any luck Dread Pirate Frogerts will be getting to meet the real Westley very soon.
A shocking amount of work went into making this little outfit... I completely underestimated the amount of time I would need to put all this together. Though a good chunk of that was me getting way too wrapped up in perfectionism... ask me how many times I re-did the smocking on the sleeves (On second thought, don't, it's embarrassing). Here I thought I had been con-crunching with Piggy last year... technically, I only just finished Kermit today, and the convention starts Thursday. Lots of internal (and external) screaming was had with this build. I did film the majority of it, with plans to turn it into a full video and reel in the future... maybe once I've had a chance to recoup from aforementioned con-crunch.
“be gay do crime! but sex is yucky and crime is wrong!” ass website
okay, we managed to get through the “you can be gay and not have sex” part, and im feeling charitable and i wanna talk about the “do crime” part
so many responses of “its nice that you’re privileged enough to be able to steal from Target willy nilly!” and that’s not at all what this is about. like, yeah, shoplifting and loitering and graffiti and breaking the rules is, obviously, part of “do crime”. but they’re not parts you have to do.
would you help someone get an abortion where it was illegal?
would you help a trans friend get healthcare that had been criminalized?
would you shelter someone fleeing persecution, even if the law said not to?
would you help a gay couple stay together when the state decided their relationship was unlawful?
instead, would you report someone else for breaking the law? will you snitch on your hungry neighbors for stealing food? on your homeless neighbors for sleeping where they’re able?
would you break laws to protect someone you love? a community you love? yourself?
also i am really annoyed at people thoughtlessly using the term crutch to refer to ai stuff because crutches are good actually and yet whenever someone uses the term they mean it in an apparently demeaning way. some people do in fact need crutches! idiot
what do you mean we piss on the poor
pride button concepts
How can I know if I’m trans?
Well, I can't tell you anything that I can guarantee will work for you but often, knowing whether you're trans starts by asking yourself a lot of questions.
Do you want to be a "different" gender/trans? (Try being trans! If you enjoy it, feel more comfortable/relaxed/yourself, good! You get to be trans if you want to, welcome to the community.)
Do you feel like you're already a different gender than you were assigned? (You're trans! I hope you enjoy it/feel more comfortable/try exploring that a little. Welcome to the community.)
Do you feel like you have more gender than people understand? (Try being trans! There's nothing wrong with exploration. If you enjoy it, feel more comfortable/relaxed/yourself, good! Welcome to the community.
If you hate it, maybe explore your gender more without the trans aspect, see if that helps! Gender can be complicated even when you're not trans. Either way, its chill.)
If you can't find an answer to any of these but still feel curious, try being trans. There's nothing wrong with giving it a shot. Even if you don't change your pronouns or change your style or anything, you can just try letting yourself be trans, look at yourself as trans, talk about yourself as trans, see if that helps things shift for you.
See if it makes you happy, more comfortable/yourself/anything! And if you enjoy it or even if you just want to, go ahead, be trans. Sometimes you have to make it simple and that's chill too. Sometimes you can just make that decision!
I dunno if this is actually helpful ngl. I remember being really anxious about whether I was really trans and not wanting to be trans when I was younger but if you take anything away from this, Anon, listen; its okay if you're trans.
Being trans is beautiful! You don't have to know anything "for sure", you don't have to be 100% certain, you can change your mind, it might even be uncomfortable at first trying to get used to it but there's nothing wrong with being trans or with exploring yourself!
Sending my love, though. Try to enjoy exploring yourself and happy pride, no matter where you wind up. 💞🫡
(Also, if anyone else has some tips, feel free to throw them out!)
Every time I see that last pic, I have to note that the funniest line is the one immediately after the highlight
I saw your Story about the Harry Potter pinball machine on Insta, and... is it weird that I find the people who only wanted to boycott it because of the AI art and not the transphobia almost worse than the ones who aren't boycotting at all? I dunno, it just really rubbed me the wrong way that the only controversy I ever saw about that machine was about the AI art, and Joanne's rampant transphobia was never mentioned. It just feels like those people are essentially saying "I'll gladly spend thousands of dollars to line the pockets of a woman who will use that money to actively make the lives of innocent people worse... as long as there's no AI involved! Look at me, I have values!"
I feel the same way honestly. It’s crazy how many people were basically like “I can excuse transphobia, but I draw the line at AI art!”
I will say that I’ve consistently seen women in pinball bring up the transphobia and boycott which is at least nice
🍰🎂🧁 that old meme...
