thinking of Azula and Zuko both having some spiritual/superstitious knowledge courtesy of iroh and yet wildly different conclusions from iroh's experiences and wisdom.

Like yeah Zuko has spent enough comfortable time with Iroh to feel that Iroh is overreacting on some things and underreacting to others, so sure! Lets cosplay as a spirit and break out the avatar! There are no consequences that could come from this. Right?

Meanwhile Azula insists esteemed General Iroh is old and senile but she still finds it incredibly important to have her threes (three-man team, three points of the nation's flame insignia, three beat sets within her katas) and is also really dependent on what the fire sages predict for her her future. After all, when she was young so many of the advisors as well as jer father and Iroh would talk about things like spirits and destiny. I imagine she hears about The Blue Spirit breaking out the avatar and goes to bed thinking about the plays she saw as a kid alongside Zuko (who loved them so much despite how TERRIFYING they were to her, which she'll never admit)

Like a Haiku - Fic Update!

I'm lowkey a bit new to tumblr but a friend told me I should start posting fic updates here + I really want to make more fic friends! Basically, this is a Sunadokei-inspired Naruto's Haku goes to the A:tla universe fic! He joins Team Azula and they think he's a spirit :> fic summary:

Though Haku has died his will flows strong like water through endless river. Haku dies protecting someone he loves. It's bad luck that he starts his day in the Land of Waves and wakes up in the Fire Nation. (As an added bonus, Team Azula gains an interesting 'spirit companion', for better or for worse).

Here's a snippet! This part in particular is from Ty Lee's pov

Blue fire lights from Azula's fingertips and spit into the campfire, and the edges of it spittle and spark white hot. It sounds like flame but looks as though it might rumble like thunder. The spirit watches on dispassionately. Azula’s recreation of a fire sage’s offering feels flatter than Ty Lee thinks the spirit knows. “It is your world’s version of nature transformation and kekkei genkai. Your clan bloodlines are split wide and your techniques are shared,” the spirit tells them. It slowly folds its hands into different positions and shapes, tucking fingers under each other and flattening palms inward and out. It continues, “You are without seals.” If Azula has any clue as to what it’s saying, she doesn’t show it. She takes a breath in and out, eyes focused on the spirit’s hands with sharp interest. In front of them, the fire dims shorter as if to give her a clearer view of the spirit in front of them. “You will fight alongside us. We will capture the traitors and the Avatar,” Azula decides out loud, “And I will show you the true strength of the Fire Nation, Ice Spirit. And you will give me your name to wield as truth.” Ty Lee shouldn't have hoped so deeply that Azula would have some sense, but Azula always was quick to dismiss General Iroh's wisdom. The spirit’s chosen face looks almost rueful despite the flat demeanor. It nods in a way that feels like a shrug. “My name is Haku. I have already accepted your mission.” The name sounds Northern in the worst way possible. Ty Lee is not someone who has traveled far and wide outside of the Fire Nation’s colonies, but she knows enough to recognize when a name is from colder regions She’s heard whispers of spiritual strife in the Northern Water Tribes. Everything is for a reason. The Avatar’s return, the rumors of a Siege of the North, and Azula’s newest mission in capturing the Fire line’s firstborn? There are large movements ahead.
