Do you know how many dogs Iâve met that get scared or anxious around men because in their previous home men hit them? A lot, and they are very protective of the women who have adopted them now.
Men who are violent towards women are often violent towards animals as well. They think weâre all chattel. If a man wants you to choose between your dog or cat or him, dump the guy. Those animals will love you for the rest of your life, loyal and true.
Actually, I have something to add.
The other day I saw a story where a woman was asking why her dogs had suddenly started growling at her boyfriend whenever he was in the same room as her son.
And my immediate thought was âthat boyfriend has hurt the kid somehow.â
Spoilers: that was exactly the case.
Trust ur dogs when they say something is off.
The first time my sister came to visit, via plane, after I got my dog, pupper growled at her and wouldnât go near her for the first day. Next visit was by car (two day drive)and pupper LOVED my sister. They snuggled and played and none of us could figure out why the change. We thought maybe the scent of my sisters cat had lingered on her clothes, making that first visit a rough one. Whereas when she came by car, the scent had had time to wear off. Well that was partially trueâŠ
Fast forward about six months when I went north to visit my family. My sister walked into my parentsâ house and pupper ran to greet my sister. Stopped dead in her tracks and started growling and barking. Hackles raised, full protection mode. My sisters husband had just walked in behind her.
My precious puppy wanted NOTHING to do with him. She barked, growled, ran away, and sat between him and my sister. Y'all my dog had spent maybe a weekend a half around my sister but protected her like this was her flesh and blood.
Eventually, my sister filed for divorce on grounds of âExtreme and repeated mental, emotional, and sexual abuse.â Divorce was final in less than a month because her claims were substantiated.
Trust the dog, honey. They KNOW.
Iâve never owned dogs, but I used to work with horses (which are a lot like big dogs).
There was this one horse I worked with named Tonto. He was a doll. He followed me like a puppy, snuck treats out of my pocket, he was the sweetest thing. We were practically inseparable.
A guy I was considering dating came to visit me one day, and Tonto wanted NOTHING to do with him. Normally well behaved, he shoved himself between us and would NOT let this guy near me. He was stomping, acting really aggressive, and tried to bite the guy. This horse was practically dragging me back toward the barn. At that moment, despite being like, 17, I knew something was up, and ultimately things didnât pan out for guy and me.
A year later I found out he had lied about his age (he said he was 18 but he was actually 27) he was arrested for sexually assaulting an 11 year old girl.
TRUST THE ANIMALS.
ALWAYS TRUST THE BABS

Let me tell you a fucking thing about costume design. Thatâs some in depth, difficult shit to learn. And the fact that this goddess can ramble this shit off the cuff means she knows her shit. ELLE WOODS IS A GODAMNED GENIUS AND ITâs NOT A STRETCH TO BELIEVE SHE GOT INTO HARVARD LAW MMMK?
FUCK YEAH ELLE WOODS OR DIE
this movie is literally about an attractive woman who loves to party having to prove over and over again that sheâs also intelligent and hard-working to those who judge her based on her looks (who also empowers and fights for other women, and fosters unlikely friendships instead of engaging in girl hate) and if you donât think thatâs some great feminist shit then I donât know what your problem is
Letâs not forget that in the end when the guy wants her again, she turns him down because she knows she deserves better.
The movieâs director made fun of Reese Witherspoon for taking the part too seriously. He was trying to make a silly movie where you laughed at the sorority girl
Reeseâs co-stars have said her hard work inspired them to play their parts with more focus too. This is one instance where a lead actor actually should get credit for the movie being as iconic as it is. If everyone had followed the directorâs vision this would have been another forgettable college comedy

okay letâs get something straight:
pride is not for everyone. pride is for LGBTQ people, and LGBTQ people only. pride is open to everyone, yes. allies and non LGBTQ people who want to support the community are absolutely welcomed and encouraged to participate, yes. but it is not for you.
it is still only for the LGBTQ community. and this is something that some cishet people need to learn.
pride is open to everyone. it is not for everyone. there is a difference.
Itâs like walking into someoneâs birthday party and acting like itâs a party for you, like youâre open to come to the party, but it ainât being thrown for you

So many dudes are freaking out about this and itâs beyond funny because this is pretty much every womanâs fantasy reaction to creepy dudes being assholes from the age of like 10 on up. Like 80% of us would do this every time given the slightest chance of getting out of it alive
Remember in 1993 when Jurassic Park was likeâŠthe end all, be all of special effects?
not gonna lie that still looks intimately real
Iâm still somewhat convinced that someone sold their soul to create the special effects in Jurassic Park because that shit is over 20 years old and it still really, really holds up, better than the stuff in a lot of current movies, even.
Fucking witchcraft, man.Â
fucking look at this shit though
Literally see this post flying around with a few different responses added to the bottom each time so Iâll say it for this one myself:
THEY ACTUALLY BUILT A GIANT MASSIVELY DETAILED FUCKING ANIMATRONIC T-REX FOR ALL OF THIS THATâS WHY THE EFFECTS ARE SO GOOD. CAUSE IT AINâT CGI. AND IT AINâT GUY IN A COSTUME. ITâS A BIG FUCKING ROBOT DINOSAUR. AND EVERY PART IS DESIGNED TO MOVE. IT COST LIKE HALF THE BUDGET OF THE FILM.
amazing
And they had the film it in small increments, especially in the outdoor scenes, because the rain fall kept soaking into the âskinâ of the rex and would slow down and mess up its movements. So they would stop filming and have a crew out there drying off this massive, fake dinosaur, and then theyâd start filming again until it was too wet. Repeat until the end of the scene.
They used animatronics and detailed costumes for most if not all of the dinosaurs in the first movie.
The triceratops for instance, was also animatronic.
And the raptors were dudes in suits. I shit you not.
One of my favorite anecdotes Iâve read on tumblr is how the t-rex robot from Jurassic park would malfunction while it was drying out. How did it malfunction, you might wonder?
Motherfucker randomly started moving.
So apparently if you were on the jp set you would sometimes hear people screaming bloody murder even though they were all well aware that it was a giant animatronic puppet and wouldnât actually, you know, eat them.
(link to said post about malfunctioning t-rex)
Did not know this, had to reblog for awesome movie history insights.
So, I knew about the animatronics bit but I did not know the raptors were guys in suits and the malfunctioning t-rex sounds terrifying.
And i just googled malfunctioning t-rex and was not disappointed. Apparently in order to put the skin on over the steel frame a guy had to crawl inside the t-rex while it was turned on and glue the skin down. And if somebody turned the t-rex off or the power went out the guy in the t-rex stood a very real chance of getting mangled and killed by the hydraulics.
So of course, the power goes out.
And this guy is still in there gluing the skin down.
Apparently the way to survive getting sheered to death by huge sheets of metal while youâre inside a giant t-rex robot is to curl into a ball and hope for the best.
And this guy hoped for the best and got it.
Some other people on stage pried open the t-rex jaws and glue guy crawled out of its mouth and was totally okay.
This is getting better and better.
I think they only had like 6 minutes of CGI
Iâm just waiting for the T-Rex to come to life and leave its stand.
@spinosaurus-the-fisher is this the kind of content you love?
Realism comes at a cost, it seems.
i mean ok but why has nobody posted this:
Itâs a three piece raptor suit.
Old movies had the best special effects
The thing about this that gets my special effects nerd going is the fact that EVERY single dinosaur was sculpted by artists based on the current existent archeological evidence of the time.

Even better than that, this movie ADVANCED our best understanding of dinosaurs at the time. Â They were blowing out a budget bigger than anything Hollywood had ever seen, and along with employing almost the last hurrah of incredible physical FX, they had a bank of those newfangled digital SFX computers. Â Nobodyâd ever really created convincing dinosaurs in a movie before. Â Itâd all been stop-motion animation, and even when the models were exquisitely crafted, you could just tell there was something OFF about them. Â Spielberg wanted THE BEST DINOSAURS EVER, and he figured on using the cutting edge of digital modeling and animation technology to build them for him.
So they got hold of some of the best paleontologists they could find and said, âWe want you guys to take this tech that your labs could pretty much never afford and use it to build us the most realistic, accurate dinosaur models the world has ever seen.â
The paleontologists knew an opportunity when it bit them in the ass.  They plugged in everything they knew about dinosaurs, all the skeletons and their best guesses about soft tissue and all that.  And when theyâd created those dinosaur models, they had the computer start moving them as they realistically would with anatomy like that.  One guy took a look at those walking t-rexes and velociraptors (really utahraptors, but whatevs, fam), and he said, âWait a minute, Iâve seen movement like that before.â
He called up film of a chicken walking.  Everyone in the room said, âHoly shit.â
Prior to 1989, the idea that birds were descended from dinosaurs existedâwe knew about archaeopteryx, we knew there was some minor connection thereâbut the idea that DINOSAURS LIVE IN THE MODERN WORLD AND THEY ARE CALLED BIRDS was not pre-eminent. Â Jurassic Park changed our scientific understanding of dinosaurs.
That paleontologistsâd be Kevin Padian. Who is awesome.

This post just gets better and better with time
For those who care, the brachiosaurus is totally CGI and still looks exquisite.

This has happened to me before when I was in college at a frat party. This girl comes squeezing herself in between me and my friend and throws her arms around me. âAmanda, I am so glad you decided to come!â I was so confused and just figured she was drunk and mistaked me for someone else, until I saw the panic on her face. She leaned close and whispered that a guy was following her, was certain that he had put something in her drink and if I would please play along. I looked behind her and sure enough, some creep was watching her like a hawk. We invited her to hang out with us the rest of the night and even waited until her ride showed up just to make sure she was safe. Always look out for each other!
If you ever feel scared like this just come up to me like we have been friends since kindergarten, call me any name u can come up with ill play along.

Stay together, stay safe
Perfect advice. Iâm reblogging this as a guy, because first of all, if youâre a guy : DONâT DO THAT. Donât be that creep.
And if youâre a guy and you notice some creep is following or stalking a girl, and that sheâs obviously uncomfortable or panicked, go ahead and say hi, long time no see, pretend to be her cousin, and tell her discretly you noticed there was a shady guy. Ask her if somethingâs wrong, if she feels unsafe, if she wants your help (very important - she may not trust you enough, no one could blame her, donât take it personally). (and donât you dare take advantage of the help you offered for a flirt opportunity, that would make you no better than the creep)
We can all stop âwitnessing and do nothingâ, and set an example.
Alternative option for a guy: if you feel safe doing so, go up to the creeper whoâs following her and be like âhey WHATâS UP bud do you like SPORTS? My favourite team is the redsox whatâs YOURS my man? What you DRINKING dude that looks GOOD.â and be friendly and just loud enough to blow his cover. Draw attention to him and see what he does. He wonât feel as safe creeping if he knows people are looking at him, and maybe heâll leave. It also means the woman wonât have to worry that you are *another* creeper she has to be wary of, and you may distract the bad dude enough to give her a chance to lose him.
Reblogging for that last comment.
NO THIS NEEDS TO BE BOOSTED
Men need to work hard to prove their value in your life. You already know you can take care of you. If not make sure You can take care of You so that when you meet a guy he will have to Prove heâs worthy of your time by adding to your life.
Men have known for centuries that, given the chance, women would 100% choose independence and the peace it brings over relationships that are generally on a scale of mediocre to traumatic. You canât tell a self-possessed, self-supporting woman who knows how to use a vibrator SHIT, and men know it.Â
âmenâs sense of power comes from keeping women down because they never developed a personality outside of hating women.
this includes having all kinds of control over women. âbanningâ abortion, âbanningâ divorce (on a womanâs request) and taking female rights away. because males need women to survive and thatâs that.
âMen NEED women to SURVIVEâ

Watch: A documentary is explaining the many ways movies, TV shows and ads makes fat people feel cursed and invisible
When you only see yourself depicted on the screen as a sidekick, a villain, a predator, or a joke, how does that affect the way you view yourself in real life?
Gifs: Fattitude
WATCH THE PREVIEW
âAt the end of the day, fat is portrayed mostly just as a joke,â says Lieberman. âOr a monster,â adds Averill. âThatâs the two-sided coin.â
Barbette was a unique performer in that she was primarily a high-wire and trapeze artist. Having taught herself to walk on a high wire using her motherâs clothes line, she took the second role in a traveling circus act called the Alfaretta Sisters (one of the sisters had unexpectedly died and had to be replaced). She performed fabulous aerial stunts, maintaining the illusion of femininity until the end, in which she revealed that she was, in fact, a man. Soon, she was premiering at the Harlem Opera House, and then in Paris.Â
There, she met, worked with, and fell in love with artist Jean Cocteau. Described by Cocteau, â[Barbette] transforms effortlessly back and forth between man and woman. His female glamour and elegance Cocteau likens to a cloud of dust thrown into the eyes of the audience, blinding it to the masculinity of the movements he needs to perform his acrobatics. That blindness is so complete that at the end of his act, Barbette does not simply remove his wig but instead plays the part of a man. He rolls his shoulders, stretches his hands, swells his musclesâŠAnd after the fifteenth or so curtain call, he gives a mischievous wink, shifts from foot to foot, mimes a bit of an apology, and does a shuffling little street urchin dance â all of it to erase the fabulous, dying-swan impression left by the act.â
