gonna start listing off streams that i refuse to believe actually happened/weren’t complete and utter fever dreams:
that one irl stream where tommy and tubbo had random people try and catch them in a park in the middle of nottingham and they found one pretty bloke and a bunch of stoners
when tommy played among us with the sidemen, wilbur and tubbo, for a video, didn’t tell them he was streaming the entire time, spent the entire time defending philza minecraft’s honour, got KSI to tweet something along the lines of “philza suck ya mum”, to which phil responded by saying his name sounded like an STD, before ending stream and raiding phil, who had been quite peacefully draining an ocean monument the whole time, and completely derailing his stream
that one irl stream fundy did where he just woke up in a forest, practiced archery, attempted to make a pizza from scratch without most of the key ingredients, called phil for help and ended because phil accidentally came up with a ghost story that bore striking resemblance to something that actually happened in the forest and all parties were scared out of their minds
the SBI monopoly stream. i will go to my grave not knowing whether the whole bit with wilbur’s office’s firewall was staged or not, but i choose to believe it wasn’t for the sake of my own enjoyment. the stream just kept escalating as they went through the steam library.
that one ranboo stream where him and tubbo were helping phil hollow out the basement, and phil and tubbo spent a good hour trying to get ranboo to order delivery. people gifted hundreds of subs to ranboo anonymously in an attempt to hit a subgoal which ranboo kept shifting in order to avoid doing it, 500 of which may or may not have come from tubbo himself
connor’s house party on the dsmp. i watched this entire thing live from multiple perspectives and i could not tell you what the fuck was occurring. also the fact that this was like the 3rd most recent time schlatt’s played on the smp feels illegal
irl drunkcast. the costumes, the alcohol, the everything. this stream was a blessing and most of the people involved probably have very little memory of it

the technoblade april fools twitch stream that was entirely a starting soon screen up until the end, in which the sleepy boys appeared and laughed hysterically before giving you a death glare
the stream in which technoblade and tommy kidnapped and enslaved antfrost
the ridiculously short badboyhalo stream where they built the skeppy mansion and played the first 2 seconds of wap right before ending the stream. i'm still not 100% sure that was real

5 hour twitch rivals event with phil, tubbo, tommy, and wilbur where they had to stand still for 30 minutes to take pictures and repeatedly embarrassed themselves by being the only ones doing funny bits in chat and then they started worshiping the twitch staff member who was overseeing them, twitchrival7, and got #free7 trending on twitter
that old tubbo dream smp stream (pre-lmanburg old) where he trapped tommy in an inescapable redstone pit, and then completely unrelated, tommy punched tubbos bee named spins and it died tragically and then tubbo, fundy, and purpled started destroying tommys house, tommy burned down tubbos house and then ran thousands of blocks away, 5 hours passed and the ended up fighting over fundy's shovel called The Long Schlong. wilbur had just been whitelisted and he joined on his stream for about 15 minutes. he immediately started figuring out what was going on by switching between vcs and pretending he was on everyones side, before following everyone back to the nether, picking up the schlong from someone who died, luring tubbo close to the edge of a cliff, asking tubbo to punch him, and casually walking off the cliff and drowning in lava (burning the schlong), and then he blamed it completely on tubbo in vc and logged off

i'd just like to add my personal favorite vod ever,
that stream from the night before the meeting wilbur soot vlog last august, where phil, wilbur, tommy, tubbo, sneeg, and i think others were supposed to play a game but it broke for phil so they just sat in a call for almost 3 hours, which devolved into multiple hilarious bits. the most cursed being when, 49 minutes in (specifically at 49:30), wilbur mentions a wood lice infestation in his house, which quickly devolves into him describing The Doom Shack, his whole house's scuffed layout, and lastly two creepy portraits of little girls he "found in [his] ceiling" to everyone in the most cryptic, distinctly wilbur way possible. and also later schlatt joined the call with facecam, but it was just a video of a dim room with a cardboard cut out of the pope sitting at the other end of a table, which schlatt vehemently requested for everyone to warn him if it moves.
the entire fucking tiredtwt murder mystery proximity chat event hannahxxrose hosted with like. astelic, boomer, antfrost, purpled, sammygreen, timedeo, squidkid and god way more i cant remember. everyone was on crack during that stream boomer was well . boomer. for some reason sammy and deo were queerbaiting. and also purpled was running around playing copyrighted music so people couldnt get close to him if they were streaming. squid was just loudly offtune singing white people music the whole time

I'm reblogging this from myself bc I just remembered that semi-lore stream where quackity got locked out of his mc account but for some reason a bunch of people were playing on dsmp, so he bought a second mc account to play on and started saying he was c!quackity's son kyle, and then he and foolish got married because kyle was inheriting las nevadas since c!quackity had 'died' and foolish wanted in on it because he worked for las nevadas. then it devolved into a court case with kyle trying to prove he was quackity's son? tina and foolish were the prosecution while bad was his defense lawyer and sam was the judge. kyle was snorting coke and bad tried to claim it was prescription. then quackity bought another mc account and named it blonde quackity and blonde quackity was supposed to be another witness for the defense but it turned out he was a paid actor and sam gave him weed brownies that were way too strong and he just wandered off or something
I'm adding my favorite from last year. The BBH's stream where he signed on to the dsmp to do pranks on Foolish and saw Wilbur was just hanging out by himself on the server in the middle of the night. He tracked Wilbur down and, on the way, picked up Quackity in the VC. What proceeded was some of the most cursed dsmp content that went on for hours. Wilbur starts killing Quackity's Las Nevadas cows, for some reason he pretends Quackity was one of the cows and, after being encouraged by Q and BBH, describes what eating cow Quackity is like. Quackity logs on and they tour some of the new houses around Las Nevadas and he and Wilbur play with the massive stack of TNT they randomly have. He and Wilbur keep looking for rooms that would be good for sex. Wilbur is drinking. Quackity is tired. George joins at some point?? Wilbur definitely falls asleep on vc.
The stream in which Wilbur plays Tetris because when he asked everyone to play origins they said no, except Tommy who didn’t answer him and then asked to watch Dream’s new manhunt video with him. Wilbur plays Tetris for a bit and rants about random things like betta fish, then enlists James Marriot as his coach who sprays water in his mouth. The water gets on his equipment and breaks it, Wilbur goes to Phil, who is live, to complain and then leaves and gets his facecam working again. Then proceeds to type an entire paragraph about Tetris onto screen that is cut off by the bottom of his facecam, and ends stream like nothing happened.

Twitch Rivals Twitchcon Amsterdam on Wilbur's stream with the worst mic imaginable. Tubbo promised Wilbur and Tommy would be nice but it's so chaotic that Tubbo looks like he wants to die. It's an awful viewing experience, my ears suffered so much I had to change streams all the time to keep sane. In the end Wilbur forgets to end stream so for like what felt an eternity his chat is just panicking screaming into the void trying to tell him to end stream. Wilbur comes back, he briefly ponders if he could leave it on indefinitely. Whatever face the Twitch staff member made discouraged him from that idea.
Jack Manifold's stream with Amouranth where he was in a bikini. Deleted with very little proof of its existence besides my screenshot of Jack in said bikini. This was the same day Wilbur and Charlie Slimecicle were... dressed with those pink... Things??? for Tommy's video and... I don't know what to say honestly:
It should also be mentioned that the night before that stuff happened was when Wilbur, Charlie and Tommy exorcised Uncle Nasty.
Tubbo drunk stream in MCC 26. It's recent by my gods is it an experience.
that one stream where quackity was supposedly teaching george spanish. he went from singing about marijuana to singing padre nuestro within seconds and then spent a good chunk of the stream pretending to be simon from fucking alvin and the chipmunks while insulting george in spanish with an extremely high pitched voice
i adore when my random sperg posts randomly attract the entirety of mcytblr to add something on lmao
also, we’re realistically never going to be able to recreate the same environment where we get this many LONG segments of unrelenting insanity as laid out above outside of isolated cases; because it’s unlikely we’ll ever get a global lockdown again, and i don’t think it’s controversial to say that was a major cause of this. like the lockdown streams that went on into the wee hours of the morning happened because everyone was free all the time (especially people in the online entertainment industry- especially especially younger people like tommy, tubbo etc who were just getting into the industry) and outside of individual groups getting together to do shit like that again (a la irl drunkcast) there’s just unlikely to be a resurgence of that type of content.
that being said: i think it’s wonderful to see the beginnings of this type of content irl.
we’re starting to see events like vidcon and twitch con and even lovejoy/james marriott gigs where everyone has their own stories and “shit they can’t believe happened”. and i think a part of that is beautiful.
so yeah, reminisce on the ridiculous old streams, and even though we’re going into an era where stuff like that happens less regularly- there’s still always gonna be stupid stuff to come, and we can all enjoy it much the same
…I dropped into this fan space 2 years late, having never heard of any of these people except from Soothouse in 2017-2018 and accidentally stumbling into a Philza stream a few times circa 2019. You see how many of the above streams are listed with the caveat “Nothing Beside Remains?” You know how I said this shit makes me feel like an archaeologist?? I could spend the next decade trying to understand everything that happened around the DSMP over just two years and I’d maybe make a dent.
