why is this post completely broken in every way imaginable
Broken notes… deactivated account… removed image….
Finally, we have them all.
In addition: OP’s name is just… gone. No “[insert username]-deactivated[insert a bunch of numbers]” as is the standard for deactivated blogs.
Just the world “deactivated.” Look upon their post, ye mighty, and despair.
It’ll be almost impossible to find this post unless it wanders across your dash.
It wandered across mine. I shall help it travel forward.
this is not a place of honor
Oh hey post of Ozymandius, good to see you again standing on your feet in a desert where no one remembers you
Which one is your favourite? 😊
my respect for kehinde wiley has increased by x2

more artwork with beheaded white people plz
They used to trade postcards of lynchings and since that’s a bit “taboo” now they circulate pictures and videos of Black people being executed by police so miss me
ex-fucking-actly
Also that painting is called “Judith and Holofernes.” The biblical story was a common theme for Renaissance paintings.
Here’s Caravaggio’s version:
Artemisia Gentileschi‘s version (shown below) is known for being particularly gruesome. It was painted after she was raped. Quite unusually, she participated in the trial against her rapist (and was tortured during the trail to ensure she told the truth.)
Kehinde Wiley did an entire series about the representation of women in classical Western art, of which this piece was a part. This NY Mag profile from 2012 is really interesting if you want to learn more.
Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), poem 85 from “The Gardener”, 1914 Translated by the author from the original Bengali. New York: The Macmillan Company.
It is an hundred years hence now. Go open your doors.
The Artemis II crew planting a tree sapling grown from a seed that was flown around the Moon during the Artemis I mission
Victor Glover (Pilot), Artemis II - April 4th 2026
also a poem from the new, unreleased collection. very possibly my own all-time favourite.
I can't describe how much I love this poem. I want to hug it.
Scientific method by James Tadd Adcox
Couldn't imagine loving an english person. "Blimey that's a wedding ring, 'innit" - like come on, get it together
Couldn't imagine loving an American person.
"Boy, howdy, that's a weddin' ring. Well, I'd be damb" - like come on, get it together
Let me have this. Look at the state of my country. Let me have this.
What if they fall in love?
“Blimey, that’s a wedding ring, ‘innit?”
“Well boy howdy, lil lady, I reckon it is. Waddya say, pardner?”
And then they ride off into the sunset on horseback drinking tea.
“young adult dystopian novels are so unrealistic lmao like they always have some random teenage girl rising up to inspire the world to make change.”
a hero emerges
And just like in the novels, grown men and women are going out of their way to destroy her. Support our hero.
And it’s not even like it doesn’t happen regularly.
Teenage girls are amazing.
Sometimes they’re not even teenagers
Reblog every time a girl is discredited/ignored

This isn’t a coincidence. Revolutions almost always happen when the population of a country is at its youngest and that’s a lot more true nowadays with social media.
Claudette Colvin was actually the first one to refuse her seat in Montgomery, Alabama to a white passenger. The movement chose to promote Rosa Parks as the figure for that form of protest because Claudette was a pregnant 15-year-old girl.
Barbara Rose Johns was a 16-year-old who organized a student strike protesting segregated schools. This strike, after gaining support of the NAACP, became a lawsuit that turned into Brown vs. The Board of Education and resulted in the desegregation of U.S schools nationally.
7th-grader Mary Beth Tinker, disturbed by the Vietnam War, decided to wear an arm band with a peace sign on it in protest. Her school suspended her. Her family filed a suit, Tinker vs. Des Moines, which reached the Supreme Court and ruled in her favor, ensuring that students and teachers maintain their right to free speech while in school.
Freddie & Truus Oversteegen were sisters who joined a Dutch resistance movement in WWII in their teens. They lured, ambushed, and assassinated Nazis and Dutch collaborators. They also blew up a railway line, transported Jewish refugees to new hiding places, and worked in an emergency hospital.
Our history books may like to showcase male figures, but behind every movement is a young girl ready to make a change. It was true then, it’s true now, and future generations of teenage girls will go on to inspire progress, whether they’re credited or not.
We were raised on these stories of fighting back against oppression, but then the people who wrote them or read them to us act shocked we turned out ready to fight facism even while being anti-social.
There are many reasons why women’s history is so often elided or erased in our education. But one of those reasons is that so MANY of the women who made history, did so for reasons that challenged existing structures of power…and usually in accessible, related ways that modern day institutions feared students learning from.
measure once cut also once, no prablem

If you haven't heard, the em dash has been getting a lot of attention lately…
Because it was trained on pirated work—including freely accessible online writing (like fanfic, academic texts)—ChatGPT picked up patterns and quirks native to human writing.
Including (sigh) the em dash.
There are other victims here (RIP tapestry and delve 🫠), but the appropriation of the em dash—a punctuation mark beloved by writers everywhere—feels especially personal.
A kind of low-grade panic is ensuing. Writers who once memed their own em dash overuse—the greatest punctuation mark ever to grace the control-freak’s lexicon, frankly—are suddenly backing away to avoid accusations.
No. More. We have centuries of dash-abusing writers behind us. We will not sit quietly while AI repurposes our beloved stilted aside—or the just-one-more clarification the sentence demands—or the dramatic pause your comma could never—etc.
You don’t write like AI—AI writes like you.
Defend the em dash.

I love rat snakes they’re so cute and cuddly. Unfortunately, they want to get in your house and cuddle.
They love to live on your porch and deal with pests and be really chill and then sneak in when you least expect it. They’re trying so hard to be domesticated. Sorry bud, you’re so shiny and dark and beautiful but you’re an outside friend.
ratsnake perfec t for domestication put rat snake in House good friend to human very Companion and Friend have good time with ratsnake in house. Put Ratsnake In House. No problems ever ratsnake in house because ratsnake perfect size give Help and Support to human. A ratsnake perfect pet for human can trust ratsnake to be good companion to Human. friend ratsnake.

As President Trump deploys ICE, Border Patrol, the National Guard and other forces to U.S. cities, here’s how to tell them apart — and what
(gift link)
My city is teaming with ICE. I don’t want to write too much about it online so I’m asking you to trust me.
In my city, the ICE agents are always in plainclothes-sunglasses and hoodies up. They arrive in unmarked cars and always as a surprise attack. It’s eerie and unsettling. Here is an example of the cars used by ICE agents on Friday. These cars were verified by community advocates.
If you are in Massachusetts and think you see ICE in your neighborhood, contact LUCE. They will send out US Citizens out into the community to verify reports. We all have to help each other because shit is dark.

I don't think this is being widely covered by national news, but Western Alaska has been devastated by Typhoon Halong. Thousands of people are out of their homes, the coastal Yup'ik villages of Kwigillingok and Kipnuk had 6.6 feet of water above normal. Dozens of people were rescued swimming in icy waters, houses have been ripped off their foundations, one woman is dead, three people are still missing, and most people are sheltering in the community schools. This is a roadless, remote area where it's difficult to get supplies and help in, heading into winter. Consider giving towards the Native-coordinated disaster response sending food and other supplies if you can.
