The culinary event was created by New York Epicurean Events co-founders Chef David Noeth and Joe DiStefano, famed food writer behind Chopsticks and Marrow, the wildly popular guide to adventurous eating in Queens.

Friends, volunteers and supporters of the Ridgewood Community Garden gathered on Aug. 3 to bid the garden a final farewell before the MTA eviction.
“From the beginning, the Ridgewood Community Garden was conceived as a simple experiment in neighborhood resilience,” explained Ridgewood Community Garden representative Clark Fitzgerald. “After living through the experience of Hurricane Sandy, and seeing what New Yorkers became capable of when they got organized together, my friends and I discovered and settled in this beautiful neighborhood, whose spirit and culture exemplify resilience and autonomy. Since moving to Ridgewood, never have I felt so at home in New York — and I grew up in the city.”

Cast and crew members from the hit CBS drama “The Good Wife” gathered at The Woodhaven House in Rego Park on Monday afternoon to film scenes for the upcoming season.
Monday’s shoot drew Alan Cumming of “Cabaret” and “X-Men” fame. Cumming plays campaign strategist and political consultant Eli Gold on “The Good Wife.” His character acts as an adviser to Florrick’s scandal-plagued ex-husband Peter (played by “Sex and the City” star Chris Noth) during his bid for higher office.

Habitat for Humanity board members, volunteers and local elected officials gathered in Woodside on Saturday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the borough’s first ReStore shop, located at 62-01 Northern Blvd.
While there are roughly 15 shops upstate and on Long Island, and more than 850 ReStores nationwide, the Woodside ReStore is the first of its kind in New York City.

Residents of all ages and nationalities gathered to celebrate Polish history and culture at the first annual Polish Bilingual Day festival at P.S. 71 in Ridgewood.
The festival was created by the New York-based educational organization Dobra Polska Szkola Foundation in conjunction with other local Polish schools and groups to celebrate and preserve Polish language and traditions.
Children from the Polish folk dancing troupe Wianek, clad in traditional costume and floral headdresses, delivered a lively performance of time-honored Polish song and dance.

Community Board 9 (CB 9) members voiced concerns over the Department of City Planning’s proposed rezoning within the district as part of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s “Housing New York” affordable housing plan.
Under the first proposed text amendment, mandatory inclusionary housing would utilize new zoning regulations to require the creation of new, permanently affordable units in an attempt to create diversity in neighborhoods while helping to meet the needs of low- to moderate-income residents.
The second text amendment, titled Zoning for Quality and Affordability, was created to promote senior and affordable housing, facilitate the efficient use of housing subsidies and promote more attractive buildings, exteriors and sidewalks through flexibility in zoning requirements.

Aigner's new owners Mark Libertini and fiancee Rachel pose with their creations. While keeping with tradition, Libertini also added his own twist to the shop’s decor and menu. Visitors will notice the addition of small sheets of chocolate, or chocolate cards, bearing hand-piped custom and seasonal expressions
Libertini kept the shop’s original sculpted tin ceiling and gave it a fresh coat of white paint. He also added enchanting crystal leaf chandeliers and warmed up the shop’s walls with pistachio and warm chocolate hues. Antique cocoa shipping crates and boxes line the tops of the shelves as a nod to the shop’s rich history.

Students and faculty from P.S. 88 in Ridgewood held up their handmade signs on the steps of the 104th Precinct during the first annual Pink Parade for Breast Cancer Awareness.They gathered on the precinct steps and were greeting by Executive Commanding Officer Captain Mark Wachter and his team as part of the New York City Police Department’s NYPD Blue Goes Pink initiative.
“It’s not only about the police department; it’s about the community. It’s about you the students, helping us out, bringing awareness,” Wachter said. “You’re the future. You’re the ones who, 15 or 20 years from now, will be leading this city. We have to invest in you, look after you and care for you.”

Adults and children of all ages gathered for Halloween fun at Julia’s Beer and Wine Bar last week during their first “Drink and Carve” pumpkin carving contest.
The grown-up fun began at 9 p.m. when adults competed for the title of best carved pumpkin, as well as a four-pack of Pumking Beer by Southern Tier Brewery. The winning pumpkin belonged to Richard Callender of Middle Village and featured a bat signal design from “Batman.” @cowardlylotcostumes

Local comic book fans and cosplay enthusiasts have a reason to celebrate as the second annual Wintercon: New York Comic and Sci-Fi Expo prepares to open at Resorts World Casino, located at 110-00 Rockaway Blvd. in South Ozone Park.
The convention will feature a host of celebrities from television, movies and pop culture available for autographs and photo ops. Notable guests include wrestling legends Mick Foley, King Kong Bundy and Tito Santana, actors Steve Guttenberg and Michael Wright, and actress Nichelle Nichols, best known for her groundbreaking role as Lt. Uhura on the original 1960s “Star Trek” television series.

The newly built tap room features rustic farmhouse tables and a large wooden bar, both handmade by Castagna from reclaimed materials. Castagna also constructed the large, wood-paneled brewing kettles that line the back of the brewery and overlook the bar, exemplifying the brewery’s motto of “DIY, self-built, low-tech, bomb-proof.”
Guests can sip from roughly 16 different beer varieties while seated in a vintage church bench or at the taproom bar. A reclaimed Technicolor stained-glass window suspended above the bar was repurposed as a light, casting a warm, cozy glow over the taproom.

Scores of happy shoppers turned out for the much-anticipated grand opening of the first ever HomeGoods store at The Shops at Atlas Park, located at 8000 Cooper Ave. in Glendale, on Sunday.
City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley was on hand to help officially open the new store location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. In addition, Crowley also helped facilitate a connection between the retailer and the Lifeway Network, a local nonprofit organization aimed at helping victims of abuse and human trafficking. As a result, HomeGoods made a generous donation of $5,000 to the charity.
