THE VAMPIRE LESTAT 3.06 'Montreal'
@peasant-player asked where huan’s high pony was for picture day… baby tyelpe agrees. uncle maedhros said everyone needs high ponytails, so everyone is getting them.
hey, tag this with a food people get really upset about you not liking
This is the most beautiful scientific diagram I've ever seen.
Also a great example of why pink is a tint of red, but also a completely different color. Erbium? Neodymium? So beautiful.
just felt very important that i make these for some reason

Why the Miniature Matters
Elizabeth learns a lot about Darcy from her tour of Pemberley, but one very vital piece of information is that Darcy has left his father’s study in its original state including a miniature of Wickham. As Mrs. Reynolds says,
“This room was my late master’s favourite room, and these miniatures are just as they used to be then. He was very fond of them.”
The miniature is not just there so that Mrs. Reynolds can tell us that Wickham turned out wild, it is a strong proof that Wickham was lying. This is from Ch 14:
“But what,” said she, after a pause, “can have been his motive? what can have induced him to behave so cruelly?”
“A thorough, determined dislike of me—a dislike which I cannot but attribute in some measure to jealousy. Had the late Mr. Darcy liked me less, his son might have borne with me better; but his father’s uncommon attachment to me irritated him, I believe, very early in life. He had not a temper to bear the sort of competition in which we stood—the sort of preference which was often given me.”
If Darcy actually resented his father’s love of Wickham to this extent, he would have destroyed the miniature. He also may not have even preserved the study as a memorial to his father (though he might have out of family pride). Darcy preserving the miniature proves that he loved his father more than he hated Wickham and that he respected his father’s desires. He keeps his father’s favourite miniatures even after Wickham attempted to elope with Georgiana.
There is absolutely no way that a man who kept Wickham’s miniature in honour of his father would have shirked his father’s favourite out of his inheritance.

@malkaleh An unserious and noncomprehensive list of fruit/fruit filling preferences of the House of Finwë. I'm including fruits that Tolkien probably never heard of because YOLO.
Finwë: Never actually told his kids his favorite because Fëanor turned everything into a competition. But he definitely has one.
Fëanor: Lemon. Versatile and genuinely enhances the flavor of most foods but is so sour that certain people can't stand it.
Fingolfin: Strawberry. Most people *cough*Fëanor*cough* poke fun at it for being a little basic, but damn if a good strawberry doesn't hit the spot sometimes.
Finarfin: Blueberry. Often mentioned but usually not people's favorite. The people who love it REALLY love it.
Maedhros: Tells his father that it's lemon. Secretly agrees with Aratto Nolo that Stawberry is the best.
Celegorm: Doesn't have a preference because he's the Elven equivalent of a garbage disposal. Seriously, Caranthir once snuck a sardine into his pie and Tyelko didn’t even notice.
Fingon: Raspberries. Just the right blend of sweet and tart. The problem is that they have the shortest shelf life. Kind of like his tenure as High King. XD
Aredhel: Lime. Wayy too tart for most people. Sometimes she won't add sweetener just to watch people whimper as their taste buds are eviscerated.
Gil-Galad: Actually agrees with Fëanor and likes Lemon the best. He likes a little tartness with his sweet.
Celebrimbor: Blackberries. After the crossing, Baby Celebrimbor was missing his Ammë but couldn't exactly voice that to his Atto. Auntie Aredhel dragged him into the forests of Beleriand and took him blackberrying. She told him they were his Ammë's favorite.
CelebrĂan: Mangos. Purely because they are obscenely sweet. She would never insult her friends from NĂşmenor, but she secretly thinks that Mangos were the ONLY thing she liked about the island. After living in the deserts for so long the sheer level of humidity on the island made her miserable.
Please feel free to add to this list!
Sauron: peeled grapes. All of the Gold Cages crew had to peel them for him. The sight of grapes make most of them nauseous.
Adar: Raspberries. He offered them to Galadriel at their ill-fated dinner in Eregion. She refused to eat anything on the table.
Galadriel: used to be grapes, now it's raspberries. She and Adar have secret raspberry food fights, as a silly re-enactment of their mistakes in Eregion. They should have joined forces against Sauron, and will be forever sorry they didn't. They think that no-one has caught them throwing raspberries at each other (they are wrong). Once Adar built a little trebuchet to bombard Galadriel with raspberries. She stomped on it. That was a step too far.
I think an under explored dynamic in the Silmarillion is Feanor and Celebrimbor’s other grandfather.
This man has been crazy about having grandchildren since he first had children. A sweet little child he can teach and advise and spoil without consequence (not that consequences ever stopped him from spoiling his actual children).
And he finally has one! A grandson! A perfect, wonderful grandson. a tiny adorable little grandson who even at such a young age clearly bears his looks. feanor has never been more thrilled, Feanor has never been more ecstatic, Feanor… has to share him?
There’s just this whole other guy with this whole other family he has to share his grandson with… are you kidding him?!?… who even are these people?!?
Anyway, Feanor is now determined to establish himself as baby Tyelpe’s favourite grandfather, nay, grandparent, and nothing and no one is going to stop him. Meanwhile this other grandfather is just the chillest guy ever, really happy to get to know his son in law’s family. Feanor is seething
If I tell you this is a horror dance number it still won't prepare you. That last move was so terrifying even the judge was like "Let go! Let go!" If you told me they're actually possessed I'd believe you.
The music is a remix of the song Mere Dholna from the Bollywood movie Bhool Bhulaiyya, a remake of the classic Malayalam horror-comedy Manichitrathazhu. It's about a young bride that seemingly becomes possessed of Manjulika, a dancer of the ancient royal court whose tragic death has turned her into a vengeful spirit, one who evokes the wrath of the goddess Durga Kali. In the iconic scene that is repeated across remakes, the groom and his family discover his bride dancing in the dead of night in a manic, disassociative fugue, wearing a moth-eaten dancer's costume and a face smeared in kohl, ash and vermilion. She's hallucinating that she's Manjulika dancing carefree for the court with her lover. The upbeat music is deliberately incongruous with the pathos and creepiness of the scene in reality, especially as it crescendos in the bride's head to the moment when the king decapitates Manjulika's beloved in a fit of jealous rage.
This specific number is by the all-male troupe B Unique, performed for the Indian reality talent contest Hunabaarz. It's a modern fusion based on Bharatnatyam that turns up the creep factor by 200% and is basically a showcase of contortionism and synchronicity. One of the most perfectly choreographed and executed dances I have ever seen. Truly incredible!
The group is still taking their work across the world's talent shows. And yes, that guy is hypermobile enough to do that with his neck. XD
