since tumblr is going to start scraping blogs to train ai be sure to glaze and nightshade your art!! Not only will both of these programs protect your art from being copied but nightshade also poisons any ai that tries to steal it

if you ever doubt that your ao3 comments matter or mean something: i have been struggling with my writing for 6 months straight, crying myself to sleep afraid that i will never be able to write again, that the thing i love most in the world has left me, that my writing is just gone
this morning i got this comment:
and after i stopped blubbering over it, i picked up my writing notebook, and re-read all my fic research, and opened up my document again for the first time in weeks without being afraid of it
you have no idea how much writers treasure every single comment we get. you have no idea how big an impact you can have. sometimes, just sometimes, your one "insignificant" comment changes everything
comments, no matter big or small, genuinely are one of the best motivators ever. I can never put into words how special a single comment is, especially when I'm struggling to write. It's the fact that another person took the time and effort to let you know that what you wrote resonated with them, reached them. I used to hesitate to comment on fics because "what if it's bothersome to the writer??" but, like, I've re-read the comments I get on my fics a million times, and they never fail to cheer me up when I'm having a bad day. If you wanna tell the author you enjoyed the fic, please do tell them!! It'll mean more to them than you could ever imagine
Honestly, I had Mint for a few months now and the interface differences to windows are miniscule. Every now and then you need to look up what to type into the console when you want to install a specific program, but thats basically it.
Also, instead of needing like, a few minutes to finish booting up, it takes around 30 seconds now. The amount of bloat on windows is ridiculous.
Linux Mint is an elegant, easy to use, up to date and comfortable desktop operating system.

The version I got from a friend was super easy to install, literally booted it up from a usb stick and the whole process held your hand, no complicated stuff.
Only hickup at the start was that my laptop could somehow not connect to the WLAN.
Which turned out to be Windows fault still, turns out when you keep windows on your PC (in case something went awry with linux) and just choose which OS to run when booting up, parts of Windows STILL boot up even when not chosen and may occupy you WLAN receptor thingy.
TLDR: The only problem that occured while installing and setting up Linux was due to not purging Windows completely
honestly? abandoned/on indefinite hiatus/very slow to update fics, even and especially AUs and longfics, are often some of my absolute favorites. and people who refuse to read them are missing out!
for one, stories don’t have to be finished to be enjoyable and worth reading. but also? an unfinished fic is a whole little universe that just keeps on existing in my head! their world stays alive for me in a way that doesn’t always happen with fics I binge read and finish, and i love it. i don’t know how their story ends, so it just keeps going! and even when those stories DO update and finish years later, they’ve been in my head for so long that they stick around like old friends.
so to any author with unfinished works: thank you SO much for sharing what you had without waiting to finish it first. you’re just giving me the gift of getting to spend more time with your story and your idea. if you do update again someday, i’ll be delighted to jump back in! but if you don’t, just know a little piece of your world still lives on in a beloved tiny terrarium in my brain. i promise i’m taking good care of it :)

YOU ARE INTERESTED IN IT???? write it because YOU are interested in it and YOU want to write about it. fanfic writing should always be first and foremost about YOUR enjoyment, not other people’s.
As an experiment for myself this summer, I will be taking writing commissions in addition to my weekly posting schedule. I adore stories with redemption or reunion plots, angst with happy endings, and found family shenanigans!!! I tend to stick in the sci-fi/fiction genres, but I don't mind a bit of fantasy, and I also write original works.
Here are the general guidelines---
- Tropes I Like: Found Family, Hurt/Comfort, Enemies to Friends, Enemies to Family, Enemy to Caretaker, Original Characters, Whump (With a Happy Ending), Angst, Platonic Relationships, Platonic Touch, Platonic Non-Traditional Omegaverse, Fluff, Character Studies, Prose, and Crack Treated Seriously.
- Fandoms I Enjoy: DC Media/Comics (Batman, Nightwing, Red Hood, Robin, Orphan, Superman, and Flash); the MCU Phases One - Three (Iron Man, Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Daredevil, Punisher, and Spiderman); Project Hail Mary (Movie); The Dark Knight trilogy; Superman & Lois (CW TV show); and The Flash (CW TV show). If you want something written with the same vibe as these medias or characters, we might be a good fit!!!
- Tropes I Do Not Write: Romance, M/M or F/F, Character Bashing, Politics, Hopeless Endings, Gore, Explicit Torture/Sexual Themes, Horror or any other type of Big Scary. I will also not be accepting direct continuations to any of my currently public stories. (Unless you are the person I wrote that story for in the first place!!!)
- Pricing: $15 USD per 1,000 words. My bundles include the Lightning Round for $5 (500 words or less); the Short Story for $60 (3,000 to 6,000 words); and the Novelette for $120 (7,000 to 10,000 words). These are not official writing lengths or styles, just my own packaging for word counts!!! If you want to pay by specific number of words, I will either round up or down to the nearest five-hundred words by $6.50.
- How To Commission Me: Send an email to [email protected] with your request or further questions!!! Do NOT send a commission ask through comment sections or any form of social media. Half of the payment will be required up front, as is custom. I prefer Venmo, but will also accept PayPal, Zelle, and Cash App. (An extra $5 flat fee will be required by myself from anyone using PayPal, as that particular entity likes to eat some of the money during transaction.)
