Note, I am finding these threads on the twitter feeds of ICU nurses who are now dreading the horrors that Roe falling will bring to their hospitals. This, on top of the horrors that they’ve seen and continue to see because of the pandemic. They were already exhausted and hanging by a thread.
Different Stories Resonate with Different People
I will always reblog this.
I once spent three hours scouring the internet to find this comic again, I will not let that be repeated.
@crimeronan here it is, after years. did I ever send it to you way back when? the comic.
Shifting to a somersault based system of governance would encourage mindsets of balance, agility, and flexibility among those seeking the authority of government.
What readers think this anon is about: Prevention of doddering old fools that should retire filling every elected office.
What this ask is actually about: Indirect plan to achieve government by yoga hottie.
Have you ever heard of the Big Mac Index? It was originally a joke thing that someone at The Economist came up with in the 80s, where they did a currency conversion to USD of the price of a Big Mac in different countries. It has some flaws - plenty of countries in Africa and the developing world have no McDonalds and so are excluded, but it still gives a good vibe on how far your money can go in each country. In Australia, where the minimum wage is just under $20AUD (just over $15USD) a Big Mac costs…
over a dollar LESS than it does in the US.
(Image ID: A screenshot of a graph from statistica.com showing the global price of a Big Mac as of July 2020, by country (in US dollars). The columns for the United States, which measures 5.71, and Australia, which measures 4.58, are highlighted. End ID)

you fools you absolute fools
if you work retail long enough i think you should be given license to kill
new hire: you can tell the customers to go fuck themselves if they start acting mean
1 year: you are allowed to maim or seriously injure
3 years: you can kill a customer if they start a fight and you can prove they provoked you
5 years: you can kill customers on the clock in any scenario, no questions asked
10+ years: you can kill any customers in any stores
addendum: during holiday season they give the entire staff a machete regardless of how long they’ve worked retail and whatever happens, happens
Not to sound like an old fart here but my philosophy about video games is like. A kid living out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere with no internet access for miles should be able to purchase a game from walmart, take that game home, put it in their console, and play the whole game with all of its features and the only thing lack of internet affects is the inability to play online with others. Nothing else. They shouldn't be missing entire chunks of the game becuase they can't download a patch. The game shouldn't be borderline empty or unplayable without a patch.
