Since I'm hoping to start posting here more regularly I thought I should make a new pinned post.

So Hi there I'm Katerine Hathsh Black (not my real name) I'm Asexual and NonBinary, I use any pronouns but prefer they/them or it/its

I'm not quite 30 and I have been involved in irl fandom since before I was born and online fandom for almost 15 years

The first fanfic I ever read was Luminosity (a Twilight rewrite) before falling into the Harry Potter fandom (mostly Drarry)

I have almost entirely written for HP/Drarry but I am working on fics for other fandoms, currently a MCU/Criminal Minds crossover

Other fandoms I enjoy reading are 911, Teen Wolf, CM, MCU, DC, DP and DPxDC, NCIS, Leverage and Supernatural for the most part. I'm sure there are more I've forgotten.

I love crossover fics and polyships and I love that queer and polyamorous relationships are slowly gaining representation in the media!

I'm happy to answer asks but I cannot guarantee answering with any sort of promptness 😅

Hello! Hope you're doing well! I'm working on my first fanfic and am a little dumb when it comes to coding. I've always seen this thing in my favorite fics where in the beginning notes they link it to the end notes for more info. An example would be something like "This is the basic info you need to know for this chapter but more can be found in the End Notes!" and End Notes would be hyperlinked. Do you think you can explain to me how to do this? Thank you so much!

I have fantastic news for you! You don't actually have to code anything at all. That notes feature is built into AO3!

Below the box where you type in your Summary, there are two check boxes.

If you click or tap on the first box to tick it off, a new text box will open up. That's where you can type in an author's note that appears at the top of the fic.

If you tick the second box, a text box will appear where you can type in an author's note that appears at the end of the fic. The link will appear on your work automatically because that's how AO3 designed the end note feature.

Since this is your first time posting, I'll add one more valuable piece of information. If your work is set to only 1 chapter (you haven't indicated that you'll be adding more chapters later), then the note will appear at the end of the entire fic - even if you add more chapters later. *

To fix that issue, just check off the box that indicates you're posting a multichap and save as a draft. Then edit the work to add in your end note for chapter one.

You can find the multichap check box just above where you choose your language.

* This was a known issue at one point and it might already be fixed. I haven't posted an end note on a multichap in a while but this was how I worked around it before.

I'll add that if you don't want to put additional info for the fic/chapter in the end notes (maybe the chapter ends on a cliffhanger or a banger of a line and you don't want to risk a reader accidentally seeing it while reading end notes) and would prefer to have it in the beginning notes in a way that won't spoiler/upset people who don't want, there's a way to do that!

In the beginning notes, type <details>. Everything that comes after this and before the details end tag (</details>) will be hidden behind a dropdown, which will be represented by a little triangle upon publishing. A reader clicks (or taps on mobile) the little triangle, and the information is revealed. It'll look like this:

When the triangle is clicked, it will go from pointing at "Details" to pointing downwards, and the content hidden inside the details will unfold under "Details."

If you'd like to give specifics about what's inside the details tag, you can do that using the summary tag. Right after <details>, type <summary>. Write whatever description you want (HTML tags like bold, italics, etc. can be used here), end the description with </summary>, then proceed to write the information you want in the details tag. Now, when the chapter/fic is published, your summary will replace "Details" next to the triangle. Here's an example from one of my own works, where I've used bold, small, and italic HTML tags to further format my summary:

You can also use the details tag (and accompanying summary tag) in the summary of a work or series, as well as the Notes section on a summary. Or in comments. On info pages for Collections. In your AO3 profile. The sky's the limit!*

* The sky is not in fact the limit. Pretty sure this won't work in the title field of a work, and it definitely won't work in any of the tag fields.

There is one very important thing I need people without major dietary restrictions to understand: the distress caused by allergies, celiac disease, and other food restrictions is largely not about the food.

Do I miss some foods I can't eat anymore without getting sick? Sure, but that's not what really bothers me. What bothers me is being excluded from a huge portion of human social life of which food is a crucial component. What bothers me is the stress and social stigma of trying to figure out what I can safely eat. What bothers me is the amount of extra work and cost that is required of me to identify, obtain, and prepare safe foods. What bothers me is people treating my needs like a nuisance, as though I chose to be like this - as though their brief inconvenience to check an ingredients list is unreasonable, when I deal with this every day of my life forever.

I don't miss the food that much. I miss not having to worry about what I eat. I miss freedom. I miss when trying new foods and new restaurants was fun instead of a minefield. I miss not having to plan my entire life around the need for safe foods.

Food is such a basic human need, and a lot of people don't really need to think about it. When your danger foods can be anywhere and everywhere, suddenly your entire life revolves around avoiding them, and it massively sucks. You get used to it and it's not a big deal most of the time, but then you go to a new restaurant, or your office has a potluck, or you've been invited to a party and suddenly it feels just as miserable and exhausting as it ever has.

I think that it's really important for people to realize that being disabled is traumatic. genuinely. your body and brain feel like they are breaking down and wrong. you are in constant heavy stress from stuff like chronic pain. most disabled people i know have a somewhat regular emotional break down from the trauma of it all. and we are expected to just smile through it by society, to not be in the way, to not be an issue.

My family do have one (specifically me and my parents (my grandma is in it but doesn't read or post)

Specifically a discord server

For 2 main reasons:

Making sure we all know when each of us have hospital appointments (multiple chronic illnesses and disabilities between us at least one of us has an appointment each month)

Easy sharing of travel information (I do a lot of travel between cities and my dad does fairly regular international travel)

(also easier to share pictures of our cats and the silly links we were all sending each other anyway)
