I’m really not sure what I did to give you guys the impression I don’t love my future kingdom. The Pridelands are amazing and important to me, and I want to do the best job I can ruling them. I just happen to think that to do the best job, I should see the world and get a little more life experience first... and that I should be able to do things my own way, without my dad hovering over me telling me what to do all the time.

Nuka: No offense to your dad or anything but it sounds like he wants you to be someone super fucking boring so maybe not proving yourself to him is the way to go.

Nuka: Its not THAT big a deal, is anyone sure that their parents love them? Kovu always got a different treatment but I don't know what the difference meant. Sometimes I thought I knew and then I was surprised and I had to try and figure it out all over again and just eventually it was easier to try not to care.

Nuka: Naaaaaaaah.

Kiara: He just wants me to be 'safe' and 'careful' and 'make good decisions.' But his idea of good decisions and mine are very different! Sometimes, you have to take risks to do something that matters.

Kiara: Yes? In his own screwed up way I'm sure my dad loves me, and my mom definitely does. I don't know about any of you guys from the Isle, though. I mean, neglect sucks, but it sounds like your mom put a crazy amount of pressure on Kovu the way my dad does on me. Pick your poison, I guess. Overbearing or aloof? Which is worse varies from person to person I bet.

Kiara: I'm gonna ride in your KarPet and just shove money down your shirt and run away next time. TAKE THE TIPS!

Vitani: Hmm a wolf? idk But I am so game for checking out all the different volcano places during off season. It'd be a lot of hiking too, I think I'm already getting too into this idea lol

Vitani: He'll nag a lot but you'll be showing him that you're an awesome Queen so he'd have not choice but to be nitpicky. Plus once your Queen you should literally be able to do what you want if you think it's right. I mean that's what Ben did despite what everyone else wanted.

Kiara: Okay, I love hiking. And as much as I loved my traveling with Ruby and Mel, there was a LOT of vlogging going on lol. It'd be nice to have a chance to see some of the sights uninterrupted next time around, the way nature's supposed to be.

Kiara: LOL how do you think he'd take it if my first decree as Queen of the Pridelands was to banish him? Not that I ever would, he's the Queen Father or whatever you call him, but... damn is it tempting.

Aside from being sure they exist, I don’t feel any type of way about them? But I’m sure they’re out there; my dad may be crazy, but he’s not crazy enough to make up a ghost in the sky that looks and sounds like his dad talking to him.

Her winter break spent with Kiara had turned out to be a success, with them pissing her dad off like they had wanted it to. But what she hadn’t expected was to enjoy being Kiara’s girlfriend for a couple weeks. It was no surprise that Kiara was hot, awesome, and a great friend. but it was different. She felt different around her and it was more apparent now than before the winter break trip. It wasn’t like Vitani to feel such an attraction to someone she wasn’t already sleeping with. It didn’t seem like something she should bring up though. She herself didn’t have a hold of what those feelings meant and it wouldn’t make sense to pile that on top of Kiara.

Vitani wasn’t quite used to participating in events such as these. Though she figured if she was going to become a sports figure she should try make more public appearance. It was best to start in a place that was for charity too. With what money she did have saved up from gigs and coaching kids in the sports their parents wanted them to play, she was able to set some money aside for the bids. This basket seemed simple enough, or maybe because it’d been one of the first baskets to be auctioned off, she started bidding. And when it was announced who the basket had belonged to, Vitani could only shake her head with a hidden smile on her face. Of course it was Kiara’s.

When Kiara had approached her she kept the smirk on her face, especially from her comment. An eyebrow raising after she bumped her hip. Vitani draped her arm over her friend’s shoulder. “You say that like you’re not happy to go on a date with your girlfriend.” She added playfully with a laugh before she shrugged. “In retrospect, I should’ve known that basket was yours.” she said, pointing to the basket. “But it’ll be money well spent.”

Kiara resisted the urge to nuzzle closer to Vitani when she draped her arm around her. The other girl was just joking around, laughing about the fast one they’d pulled on her dad and what a complete success it had been. She was probably even looking around to see if Simba was anywhere nearby, observing them too closely the way he had all of the Christmas holidays. Kiara found that she hadn’t glanced in her dad’s direction at all, though; she didn’t care what he thought right now. She was just kind of excited -- and more nervous than she should be, too -- about spending a day in a romantic-ish setting with Vitani when it wasn’t just for show.

“You say that now, but I actually cooked most of the stuff in there myself, so watch out,” she teased, putting her uneasiness aside. They were friends first, after all. Whatever feelings Kiara may or may not have caught over the break couldn’t put a dent in that. “And you know there’s no dessert, right? Some of us are smart enough not to think sugar’s the be-all-end-all of food, but there are still like, 70 other baskets waiting to be bought, if you’re really craving it you can go grab a couple cookies out of 15 before we head out.” She kind of hoped Vitani would go for that, honestly; she hadn’t planned for where to take Vitani that would actually impress her, seeing as she hadn’t planned for her fake sometimes-girlfriend to buy her at all.

Kiara always made a habit of participating in Auradon’s basket auction, whether as a bidder or a basket maker. And while her father might advise against buying or selling her time to a stranger in this way, Kiara thought it was a great cause -- the fact that her overprotective dad didn’t approve of her involvement was just a perk. This year, though, it was about more than just doing the charitable thing. This year, Kiara could actually use a distraction.

It had been weeks since she and @vitani-okoro​ had returned to real life after playing pretend at being a couple to rile up her dad, and yet, the farther away they got from it, the more Kiara seemed to think about it. That was stupid, though; Vitani was her friend, it wasn’t like they were dating for real. Neither one of them had ever really done any relationship that was super serious, and as far as she could tell, V wasn’t looking to start now. She probably wasn’t even thinking about it anymore, how nice it had been being fake girlfriends, so Kiara hoped that whoever bought he today was hot enough to make sure she stopped dwelling on it too.

She watched eagerly as people bid on her basket, one of the first ones to go up for sale -- and then, her stomach did a flip when she heard the winner announced. Vitani. Okay, so maybe this wouldn’t help accomplish the distraction thing, but Kiara didn’t have it in her to be disappointed about spending a semi-romantic day with her friend. “Wow, couldn’t get enough of me at Christmas, huh?” she teased as she walked over to the other girl, bumping her hip against hers playfully. “You coulda just hung out with me whenever you wanted, you didn’t have to pay all that money to get all of this.”

Nuka: Looks like he couldn't stop you from being confident in general though, so that's cool. I don't know, compared to that, I'm not sure if my mom's is bad or not. She basically just had me never sure if she actually loved me or just thought I was occasionally useful but that's okay, it's not like that gave me a million issues or anything!

Nuka: Because tips are like a sad little orphan boy begging for attention and I can't support that! It just doesn't sit right with me! It's gross!

Kiara: Being away from him definitely helped, although even when I was still in the Pridelands, I was determined to prove myself to him. It got a little disheartening when nothing was good enough, though; space helped the most.

Kiara: Well shit! You can't just pretend that didn't matter, I can tell even through a text message that it did. Did it seem like she loved Vitani and Kovu? Or did she treat all three of you like that?

Kiara: Tips are people knowing your job pays below minimum wage because it expects you to get paid above and beyond the regular fee based on how good of a job you do? It's a terrible system but it's not your fault the system's bad, if people are abiding by it you should let them so you're not broke.

Vitani: Motunui strikes me as the place with the best volcanos, right? Or we could just try to go to like all of them.

Vitani: I feel like it'd be dumb if you didn't get to go places just because you were in charge. It's how you meet people and how people will get to see how dope you are. Oh your dad would definitely do anything in his power to watch you from beyond too. lol He'll come around tho, I mean you're gonna kick ass.

Kiara: I mean, we gotta decide that for ourselves, I think. We should go check out all of them and form our own opinions, instead of just being sheep and believing what everyone else says just because they say it. I've been a sheep enough in my life! Time to be... the opposite of the sheep, whatever that is in this situation.

Kiara: And who trusts an ally they never see? If you just stay within your own borders all the time, people are bound to think you're either paranoid or a snob. UGH. Like how he says he sees his dad's face in the stars; he'd do that too, only instead of wisdom I'd get NAGGING from Sky Simba.

Kiara: You guys have a seriously weird idea of what a prank is in that apartment. But okay, yeah! My dad is the master of gaslighting, if you need advice on how to do it, I'm for sure your girl.

Kiara: I can just get it for you? Although you must make bank from people who puke in your Karpyt and give you huge tips so that they won't get banned from the app; where does that money go?

Vitani: It's the only way. That thing needs to be fully extinguished if he's seen it. lmao. Add that to the list of places we need to visit before you're officially on Queen duty.

Kiara: Yes please! Where do you think has the best ones? Motunui? Hawaii? I swear there's a smiling volcano off the coast somewhere, I have to figure out where that one is, exactly.

Kiara: And the whole queen thing doesn't suck THAT much. I just hope I'll still get to go places and meet people that I'm supposed to have alliances with, instead of like... being stuck at home seeing their faces over Zoom or something. I don't want leading the Pridelands to mean I can never LEAVE the Pridelands, especially if dad's still there hovering until the day I die (because he SO would outlive me just to spite me).
