Today a random clip of a F1nn5ter Q&A stream found its way into my feed.

Someone asked F1nn why it was that on her larger branded social media accounts she still listed herself as a femboy in some places while in more intracommunity spaces she more readily and comfortably identified as transfem.

Now, depending on who you ask that kind of question to you'll probably get a meandering answer on the complexities of how one defines their own identity. But instead F1nn gave a very quick and simple answer.

She gets less death threats or other general threats of violence from people when she calls herself a femboy vs calling herself transfem. It wasn't any deeper than that, and some people in her audience understood that, while others were confused that femboys were more palatable to cis people than transfems.

Hey y’all! It’s been a hot, hot minute since I’ve ever seen this so let’s do some life updates!!!

Name: My full name is now Vincent Paul James Hornbeck! My dad and I had a short and sweet talk and he said that, if I had been a boy at birth, my middle names would have been Paul James (grandfather’s name-family name). So, since it didn’t bother me either way (and I never really liked Matthew that much), we agreed on it!

Nickname: Vince, Vinnie, Vi, and ‘centé (like Vicenté). Or, in a few people’s cases, Vicenté Fernandez. I work within a large Latina/o/x community.

Star Sign: I’ve decided that I’m celebrating both my signs, so I’m a Leo and Virgo! I actually have my full horoscope somewhere with all of my readings of my placements and it’s very interestingly on point to current times, considering it was created right after I had been born.

Gender: I consider myself a malleable blob. I pass myself as male (and outwardly trans), but I do feel non-binary sometimes.

Height: I’m 5′6.5″! I know my exact measurements, finally!

favourite bands: i’ve expanded my tastes beyond kpop, and delved into the years of the past. i’ve been rocking pink floyd, alice cooper, the beatles, jimi hendrix, and more!

favourite artists: a couple animators i love that you should go check on youtube are sherbies and kirby otaku! i reminded myself of their stuff watching game grumps. and check out all those other animations, too, there are some really great people!

current outfit: ankle socks with negan from twd, comfy jeans, a game gyaru shirt (purple sleeve edition!), a bandana, and tons of shit on my fingers and wrists! even when i’m not decked out, i’m still loaded.

fave books: i just recently finished reading fangirl again (you know, That One Book), but didn’t break the surface for a favourite. the next series i need to start again is… i don’t know yet! i have to pick something. i’m leaning towards z brewer’s vladimir todd, i do love that series

fave books: haven’t been reading hardly at all, but my hope is that i can start reading david moody’s 'hater’ series again! i read the first book in high school (or maybe middle school?) and i lost it until recently when my grandma immediately bought it for me when i brought it up (she will not hesitate istg) to be honest it’s a very violent book and probably would be banned from schools nowadays. so everybody should read it!!!

fave bands: atm, none that come to mind. i’ve been listening to a lot of solo artists recently. bbno$ is hilarious and kisses men and hates AI. he’s pretty neat

fave artists: i heard a hot take recently that the doctor who episode about van gogh is tasteless. listen when i say this: it’s just doctor who. it’s a tv show. i love van gogh and everyone should understand that his best work was done while getting professional help. the fictional depiction of him on a british show about time travel that also once had their characters lock hitler in a closet shouldn’t be taken seriously.

name: V, just V. i actually considered going by vladimir early on in my transition but it was too. off. for me.

fave fictional characters: REALLY into connor from detroit: become human right now. ive been working on an interesting slash-reader fic thats almost 9k words. hoping i can finish it soon because id also like to write a secondary chapter of the same time frame from his POV instead of the readers so i can write out all the statistical data parts.

fave books: havent read anything in months and months. the last book i opened to read was Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson (she wrote Speak, which is my favourite book). i just get interrupted too often and distracted too much to stay focused. id love to read it at work but everyone wants to fucking talk to me
