In light of recent events, I have begun submitting bug reports when I see mature content labels applied inappropriately to posts, especially if an appeal has been rejected.
Extremely good idea - how are you doing it? Through the contact us option?
Yeah it’s one of the options on the Contact Support form:
for what it's worth: after a few months of submitting help tickets as 'feedback' when i saw a post inappropriately flagged as mature, i tried following this suggestion instead. today i got my first-ever response from tumblr support on this issue, letting me know that a post i'd submitted a ticket before has had its mature content flag removed.
Hey it worked! Maybe if enough of us make a stink they’ll fix the fucking system.
This is actually such a crucial part of healing from neglect and abuse and I have to add to this.
Because indeed, people who like you will not roll their eyes and sigh at the idea of accommodating your needs, they will value your voice and be upset with you about injustice done to you, not at you for "being difficult". They will be happy when you find a way to live a better life, and help you to get there. If you are struggling, someone who loves you wants to see you smile, not tell you to smile because "you have it so good".
the legally blonde mentality isnt just for law students. u can bring that attitude with you into every field of work. be the whimsical force of positive change. wear that neon outfit. snaps for us all.
this post was inspired by my boss telling me she couldnt "take me seriously" in a pair of dinosaur print overalls. sorry i have two degrees and a dope wardrobe. you dont need to take me seriously but You Will Take Me.
OP's an inspiration. bring on the whimsy movement!
you have permission to pick that 2 year old "abandoned" project back up. it's not mad at you for setting it aside. and maybe time and distance have helped ease or erase the things that made you put it down in the first place.
I know I sound like your mom but you kids need to stop fucking vaping
1) Vaping is confirmed to cause cancer. Vaping coats the lungs with toxic substances, such as heavy metals and benzene, which are known to cause cancer
2) Many vapes contain diacetyl, which, when inhaled causes popcorn lung, or scarring of the lung
3) Ultrafine particles, when being inhaled, can be lodged in the trachea (not good!)
4) Ultrafine particles can also constrict the arteries in the lungs potentially causing A HEART ATTACK
5) Vaping is relatively new. Not much studies have been done in comparison to tobacco. Plus, the vaping companies are powerful people. There is a large chance that they are purposely downplaying and even burying any evidence that vaping is harmful - just like the tobacco companies before them. They do not care about you, or your health, or the truth. They only care for money
Also STOP VAPING INDOORS AROUND OTHER PEOPLE. Holy shit, if you're gonna wreck your lungs at least give me the option not to wreck mine.
It’s such an issue that the MTA had to run a campaign about it
yeah okay ill reblog that
Please I’m begging yall as an asthmatic, your fruit-flavored vapor will still give people around you who are smoke-sensitive attacks. So will weed. Don’t do it inside; if you’re at a bus stop or something try to not stand right next to people or move downwind of them if you can.
Kids - don't smoke. Anything. Just don't. There are gummies now for THAT one.
anyone else notice how when "digital assistants" were just supposed to do specific tasks when you asked for them we had Alexa and Siri and Cortana, but now that they're being marketed as smart enough to take actions and make decisions on their own they've got names like Claude and Devin
@namanie @tsunderrated the point isn't "fake names -> real names," it's "feminine names -> masculine names"

The bipartisan push to remove anonymity from the internet is ushering in an era of unprecedented mass surveillance and censorship.
"The problem is that there’s no way to reliably verify someone’s age without verifying who they are. A platform cannot magically discern that a user is 16 without collecting identifying information, whether through government documents such as a passport, payment information like a credit card, or other identity-disclosing data. Whether that data is stored by the platform itself or outsourced to a vendor, the result is always the same: A user’s offline identity is forever linked with their online behavior.
Stripping anonymity from the internet would constitute one of the most sweeping rollbacks of civil rights in recent history. It would allow for unprecedented levels of mass surveillance and censorship, endangering the most marginalized members of society. Whistleblowers exposing corporate wrongdoing could be tracked and fired, government employees speaking out about illegal behavior or bad policies could face prosecution, and activists organizing protests could be identified and surveilled before ever setting foot on the street."
And this is exactly the kind of thing US lawmakers will decide for US citizens, and it will effect everyone who uses the internet globally. Already any kind of age verification amounts to "hand over your government identification to a private US corporation".
I dont know what solutions might be on a broader scale, but its absurd for one country to have this much power and for their private corporations to be handed this amount of authority from literally world governments demanding "safety for children". This power structure is absurd.
Yall USians have got to shut down all this bullshit, youre the ones who vote these people in and out. Theyre not gonna give a shit what foreigners have to say.

How to make traditional Chinese portable lighter huozhezi (cr 扇子有画)
I imagine this might be a tool that less skilled firebenders might use in very cold climates like the poles.
Watching pro-choice principles leave people's bodies when a couple aborts a fetus with Down syndrome.
Everyone who virtue signals about how people with Downs are the sweetest angels and whatnot have not actually dealt with people with Downs for a significant length of time, not seen the less glamorous inspiration porn parts of the disorder, and have only seen the "high functioning" cases at best.
And you can't even make autism comparisons, Downs comes with a lot of other health concerns, including heart surgeries that are required during childhood. And even then, a lot of them don't make it to adulthood.
And even if they didn't have all those other complications, a couple - especially the woman - is well within their rights to say, "I can't commit to raising a child like that and don't want to put them through that" and abort it.
But I'm learning that a lot of Republicans and leftists alike would totally adopt a Down syndrome baby, but just don't for some reason.
This is one of those situations where people need to hold multiple ideas in tension with one another, which is difficult for most people to do. But you can be 1000% supportive of the right of any person to terminate a pregnancy at any time for any reason and still be deeply concerned about and even disgusted by the ableist and eugenicist messaging that the particular YouTube couple in question put out to their very wide audience when discussing their decision.
Of course there are people who do not support abortion rights generally and others who don't support terminations for medical reasons that are not fatal. But there are many many others whose issue in this particular situation is that by referring to their fetus or the situation as "a glitch" and saying that they were going to try again for "a better child"the Youtubers blasted their audience with a metric ton of eliminationist rhetoric that will have a knock on impact on the disabled people, especially people with DS or profound intellectual disabilities who are met by audience members who do not have any knowledge of the wide range of what DS can mean, or any familiarity with disability justice. That matters, especially when the Youtubers were completely free to simply say that they terminated the pregnancy for medical reasons without any further comment.

“It just means you have to work double as hard as most people!”
Well maybe I don’t WANT to work double as hard as abled people!! Maybe I deserve a BREAK!! Maybe I’ve been working MORE THAN double as hard for MY WHOLE LIFE and it’s led me to immense burnout & caused me to develop several MORE disabilities!! Maybe I should be ACCOMMODATED so I don’t have to KILL MY BODY AND BRAIN over trying to do what abled people can do!! Maybe I DON’T have to work double as hard!! Maybe if there’s the option to let me NOT work double as hard, I should have it, because I’m already working double as hard JUST TO SURVIVE!!
Why do you think disabled people deserve less rest than mentally & physically abled people?
can we bring back the term "fair-weather friend" bc I feel like if fair-weather friends got called that more this whole argument about whether or not you should be there for your friends when it's inconvenient/at what point of personal inconvenience it's ok to bail on your friends would kinda fall apart bc like. we literally have a word for "friend who's only there when you don't need something from them" because the baseline expectation is that a friend should be there even when it sucks. like we used to make fun of people for bailing on their friends.
i think also, even though this phrase does have negative connotations, it's helpful as part of life to recognize this without it destroying casual friendships and acquaintanceships. i remember my mom telling me she'd realized one of her friends was a fair-weather friend-- there was a little bit of grief involved in recognizing it, but it helped her make sense in retrospect of how this specific friend had dipped in and out of her life in the past. and for her, that didn't mean she was Done with this friend. it meant that she saw she needed to maintain her own boundaries in the friendship and her expectations and what she shared-- this friend was great to invite over to hang out by the pool on a summer afternoon and chat about casual/light topics. this friend was great to go out for coffee with and do fun things with. it just meant my mom limited her time and emotional resources, instead of investing a lot into the casual fun friendship that wouldn't be there for harder seasons. i don't know if this friend was like that for everyone she knew. i remember her being a pleasant person to be around when i was a teen. my mom has lost most contact after a move and some other life changes, but for that season of life, she and i both have good memories of this particular friend and her space in our lives-- because my mom adjusted her expectations and investment and time, and kept that friend in the space that worked for the level of friendship that it was. and in fandom spaces online, and in real life, that's been so valuable to me? sometimes you do have to end a friendship, and that can be hard and sad, but sometimes you just have to be able to recognize that for whatever reason, someone is a fair-weather friend to you. sometimes we get stuck in a kindergarten level binary about friendship: you are my friend/you are not my friend. and real life isn't that simple. sometimes you have casual friends that you do fun stuff with, and recognizing that helps you make boundary lines for yourself in what you give/expect. don't invest ride or die, show up at 3am energy or deep, emotional processing work conversations into friendships that aren't load-bearing. don't expect people who have, historically, not shown up in hard seasons to do so if you show up for them or put a lot on them again. sometimes, people do expect that from you without being willing to reciprocate, but that's a different problem. sometimes the people you invest that energy in, without taking the time to look at what the friendship is and what its limits are, are not actually expecting anything more than casual friendship and don't ask more of you, and then it feels like they're being Distant or Withdrawing when they actually just have their own boundaries.
“There’s a cure?!” asked the girl that kills everything she touches. “Hey shut up we’re perf” replied the girl that makes clouds.
For real though. Storm has stopped an entire tsunami before. “Makes clouds my ass” she can conjure lightning and tornadoes and is revered as a god in her tribe. She literally changes atmospheric pressure and that’s how she flies. So fuck you. Storm is flawless.
I think you missed the part where the GIRL WHO KILLS EVERYTHING SHE TOUCHES wants to NOT KILL EVERYTHING SHE TOUCHES and everyone dismisses her incredible misfortune just because the lady who is the AVATAR OF THE STORM won the fucking SUPERPOWER LOTTERY
And here we see X-Men perfectly illustrating the disparity between the larger disability community (Storm) and the chronic illness community (Rogue). One wants society to accept & respect them & their various different needs, which is surely a noble cause, while the other would like to NOT BE IN PAIN EVERY FUCKING DAY, which is just as important but often gets shouted down by non-ill disabled people who only want to talk about disability as a social construct.
