when swimming’s so easy you start doing bonus quests now
This is a superb example of why she's so dominant though. Besides the fact that she works her ass of to be, because she does. Economy of movement is a big damned deal in endurance sports. Ledecky is far and away the best distance swimmer in the world because of how precise her movement is. There is zero wasted motion and nothing shows that more clearly than this.
I can't get over how smooth her paddling is, there's barely a ripple when her hands enter the water
TICK, TICK...BOOM!'s George Salazar, Nick Blaemire & Lilli Cooper Perfor...
squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee this is so good thank you youtube recommendations :) :) :) nick and lilli and george are all so epic 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
When you gotta get rid of all the marble penises in your house
no idea if this is a joke or not but if it isn't it would be actually insane
I mean the whole damn point of the Nativity story is that the supposed son of God (interpret Jesus how you fucking want, of course) was born to a couple of poor, exhausted peasants in the stable for the inn, and his first bed was a feeding trough for animals. That would nowadays be like a poor couple where the mother gives birth in a parking garage behind the motel because they couldn’t find a better place and nobody else would take them in. It’s a pretty gritty setting, and the idea is that God was reborn in some of the rock-bottom lowest circumstances. The only thing majestic was all the angels and shit, and of course motherly love
I get that a lot of the art portraying Madonna and Child as fabulously wealthy europeans in splendid robes and golden light was meant to glorify God + whichever nobility was sponsoring the artist, and while of course it’s genuinely beautiful art, it just always struck me as horribly missing the point, which is that the supposed son of God started in incredibly humble circumstances, among the kind of people that everyone else looks down on
‘Massacre des Innocents’ by Leon Cogniét, 1824. Although the Feast of the Holy Innocents is in a couple of days time, this painting is still really relevant in that it portrays Mary as how She really was: a scared refugee mum, so fearful that Her son was going to be one of the Innocents killed by King Herod.
My new favorite mordern interpretation is this work, José y Maria by Everett Patterson (http://www.everettpatterson.com)
I had to look at this like FIVE TIMES to register all the layers of symbolism going into the piece by Patterson.
The hoodie as a veil.
Weisman cigarettes
Each of them is haloed by an advertisement sticker.
No Vacancy sign on the motel.
Dove sticker over Maria’s head.
Neon sign with a star symbol also over Maria’s head.
The crown over the ‘Dave’s City Motel’ sign. “New Manger.”
The sign behind Jose’s elbow likely says ‘Herod.’
The wee little plant growing through the cracks at their feet.
It’s like a New Testament ‘I Spy.’ I love it!
Ugh.
New favorite interpretation of the nativity.
Ezekiel 34 15-16 on the phone
Good news sticker above José
Maria sitting on a donkey
Shepherd Watches advertisement in the newspaper
Gloria sticker on the payphone
from an exhibit of nativity sets in barcelona (2023), with jesus born next to atm machines (top), in a war-destroyed movie theater (middle), and in an alley (bottom, featuring graffiti saying “coronavirus”, “no human being is illegal”, and the anarchist symbol)

Well the results are in and it's not that much of a surprise to see Der Fhurage has retained his seat, but, that means the Parliamentary Standards investigation restarts, and the breakdown is interesting.
As can be seen from the declared results above he's hardly got a ringing endorsement (63% of votes from a 44% turnout equates to about 27.8% of the electorate). Now, whilst various Deform bootlickers are likely to try and spin this as a huge success (especially given the swing), the fact that a) voter turnout was much lower than in the General Election and b) all the mainstream parties refused to participate doesn't really show how the wider party would perform in another election. Especially since Fhurage refused to attend the ballot count and their polling position is dropping significantly.
It's also worth noting how well Count Binface did here. A known novelty joke candidate in an election with 34 candidates (most of whom were independents and 3 from the satirical Monster Raving Loony Party) getting over a quarter of the votes cast (and nearly half the number of votes of the actual winner, equating to around 11% of the electorate) is a pretty clear sign that Fhurage isn't anywhere near as popular as he seems to pretend he is.
I cannot believe this happened like this whole election is a joke but imagine people being so against you that you make nearly ten thousand people vote from a bin from outer space like honestly I'm quite proud of this country lol :)
count binface you could never disappoint me </3
honestly over the quarter of the votes for a space bin feels like a win even if it isn't officially

Why he light skinned?
Because Martin Luther was white and German.
did…
did someone confuse Luther with Jesus omg
I suspect they confused him with Martin Luther King
I mean, I get mixing them up based on names alone, but I’m concerned about the people who think Martin Luther King Jr. routinely wrote with a quill or dressed like a Renaissance man.
At that point it’s your own damn fault for making that kind of mistake
but why is martin luther the fastest sold playmobil figurine

Good video showcasing exactly why these dogs are not suited to 99 percent of households.
They've gotten very popular recently and I suspect theyre also being dumped in shelters at a high rate
I can confirm they are.
Which is one of the reasons I reblogged this, I vaguely hope it might make someone somewhere reconsider their choices
okay so my grandma had this friend and he was late to everything, but he didn’t really mind, as he would always joke around and say ‘oh well, as long as i’m not late to my own funeral’.
he recently passed away and last week at his funeral, everyone was in the church waiting for it to begin. they waited for more than 30 minutes past the set time and then came the news:
the hearse had gotten stuck in traffic. the hearse with his body in it.
he was late to his own fucking funeral.
