It is true. Infact it grows by factor of 3 as per research.
Reason is due to finger nails have better blood circulation and is also used more. Further, it grows faster during summer and during pregnancy.
Research says fingernails get replaced every six months whereas toenails require one and half years.

It is surprising why Film trailers are so called though they are shown before the film.. The answer lies to the history of trailers way back in 1913.
It was Nils Granuland who started the trailer in 1913 showing montage of rehearsals for his upcoming musical film. This was shown after the film to keep audiences engaged before viewing next film or cartoon, etc..as they used to be engaged for almost full day watching series of movies, cartoons, etc.. Hence the name Trailer.. trailing the film.. But since people started leaving after films in 1930s, trailers started being shown before the films .

Surprising but true. Egyptian word for the cat was "mw or myw", which would have been pronounced as “mee-oo ”. The word literally means cat. In all likelihood the term is onomatopoeic (which is based on sounding as it occurs) and based on the sound of a cat's meow.
Other surprising fact is Egyptians worshipped cats as divine since they helped them against snakes, rodents, etc. Several Egyptian goddess are based on cat faces like Mafdet, Bastet and Sekhmet , etc.

Surprising but true. The Spanish national anthem (Marcha Real) is one of only four national anthems in the world (along with those of Bosnia, Herzegovina, Kosovo, and San Marino ) to have no official lyrics.
It was in 1761 that Spain created this tune for their Infantry's March . However different attempts made to add lyrics is still not officially recognised by the government. Audiences hum along or sing na na na along with the tune.

No.. Molotov did not invent it.. Molotov was Soviet foreign minister during and after World War II. When Soviets invaded Finland in 1939, he called cluster bombs thrown at Finnish people as 'food parcels' for starving people.
In response, Finland used petrol bombs (glass bottles filled with petrol/alcohol with burning wick) against Soviet. They sarcastically called it a Molotov cocktail to accompany the food packets ..

It is the ancient Egyptians who originated it. Infact they started it using 24 stars , 12 of which were used to mark the passage of the night . This started after sunset and remaining day hours were then equally divided by 12 to have total 24 hrs.
Infact, Italians used day starting from sunset and Germans used day starting from midnight . The German system is what we are following today.

It is Social media/Twitter which made it famous as Hashtag. However research says the origin starts with symbol for pound, symbol used on telephone instruments, computer programming comments, etc..
Octothorpe (#) means eight ends for 'Octo' and village fields for 'thorpe'. Hence it used to means eight corner fields around the village . This slowly evolved from telephones to hash mark (worn on defence enlisted persons) to present Hashtag to emphasise certain words.
