Speaking of ruggie and vil’s birthday cards, sometimes I wonder how the twst devs look at some of the outfits (overall for the whole game) and not say “this doesn’t look good / that doesn’t fit” when so many of the fans agree that {outfit} looks ugly 😭 now i’m sure much of it is the english fandom just noticing the details, and maybe the japanese fans just enjoy it anyway (nothing wrong with either of those!), but like, how does not one person behind the scenes not notice if it looks bad?💀 I’m also thinking maybe it’s just personal or cultural taste too? I’m gonna throw in some personal least favorites of mine to think about: Vil’s new Bday card / Vil’s PE uniform (the leggings WHY)/Leona’s Camp Vargas fit (shirt and jacket)

Maybe the outfits we think are ugly look good to the Twst devs 😂 or maybe there’s that one person on the team that thinks “this is ugly” but the rest of the team already greenlit it or they feel too shy to speak up?

I wager that a lot of the negative reactions you’re seeing are from the EN fandom; westerners tend to openly voice their disdain for media they dislike or at least meme on it. On the JP side, there’s much less open critique of the outfits and you can sort of gauge how popular a look is by how much or how little fan content is made featuring said outfits, especially once they are no longer spotlighted in the current content. For example, we can tell Fairy Gala Couture Leona is well-received because there’s still fan art of it to this day despite the event being extremely old. (It was like the second story event Twst ever had!) However, Camping Gear Leona is less well-received because you can hardly find content of it even though it came years after FG.

I’ve no doubt that fashion and aesthetic taste must vary from culture to culture + person to person, so that’s likely a factor in how we perceive art. I’ve seen plenty of people go against the grain and state that they’re fans of whatever look the fandom is currently dunking on www

I don’t mind Vil’s P.E. Uniform look, but I do agree the other two you listed are misses.
