About Us

Welcome to our blog! We are The Menagerie, a polyfragmented DID system of 45+ members. We are in therapy and striving for functional multiplicity. We tend not to follow minors, but interaction is absolutely fine! For the record, we are in our 30s bodily. Information about our more frequent fronters will be included under the cut for those curious. We also have a pronouns page with more information on the system :)

This is a syscourse-free zone, although conversations about system experiences is very welcome! I love discussing things but syscourse is a pox I refuse to put on my main. Please be aware that I may, on occasion, post syscourse to this blog, but it's accidental (forgot to switch to my side-blog).

Can we PLEASE stop posting BAH packs, aesthetic asks and coining posts in these tags? Pretty please? That’s all these tags are these days and it is NOT what it is for. I get an actual post about living with a CDD maaaaybe once every 9 or 10 posts? That’s absolutely unreasonable, guys. Make new tags for these and keep it to those spaces, I am begging you. You will still get the same amount of activity without drowning out our voices about actual experiences.

For those unaware, "free the nipple" means that women should be able to walk around without a shirt on, just like men are. The fact that womens chests are sexualized like they are, meaning those who are assumed to be women have to wear shirts, even in this weather, is fucking ridiculous. "Free the nipple" was referencing 1, the freedom to go shirtless, and 2, the fact that it's always "female-presenting nipples" that are punished.

Sometimes relationships between individual parts in partner systems are really funny. We have Jasper, a Persecutor. He’s capital D Damaged and is basically a physical representation of our abuse. He’s snappy and violent and holds grudges and basically just thinks everyone should stay away from him for their own good.

Then my partner has their singular syskid. This syskid is goofy and mischievous and generally just hilarious.

This child has decided that Jasper belongs to her. No idea why. Whenever Jasper is fronting, this kid will 100% of the time force herself to front. She doesn’t really let the rest of her system spend time with him because she wants all of it to herself 😂 Even though he’s made solid connections with a couple other people in their system. Taking bets on how long until she’s reprimanded.

Chik-fil-le sandwich

INGREDIENTS:

4 hamburger buns, split

1 head green leaf lettuce, leaves separated

1 beefsteak tomato, sliced

20 dill pickle slices

FOR THE CHICKEN

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup dill pickle juice

1 ½ cups milk, divided

1 cup peanut oil

1 large egg

½ cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

DIRECTIONS:

Place a chicken breast on a cutting board. With your hand flat on top of it, carefully slice the chicken in half horizontally. Trim excess fat as needed.

In a large shallow baking dish, combine chicken, pickle juice and ½ cup milk; marinate for at least 30 minutes. Drain well.

Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.

In another large shallow baking dish, whisk together remaining 1 cup milk and egg. Stir in chicken to coat and drain excess milk mixture.

In a gallon size Ziploc bag or large bowl, combine chicken, flour and confectioners’ sugar; season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Working in batches, add chicken to the skillet and cook until evenly golden and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.

Serve chicken immediately on burger buns with green leaf lettuce, tomato and pickles.
