Rick Riordan's portrayal of goddesses is so misogynistic. No, seriously, because the gods have the whole, they're not flawless arc going, but are complex and have been portrayed in a better light than most of the goddesses. While only the flaws had been pinpointed for all the goddesses, they had been made very one-dimensional. Athena? An always-criticizing mentor figure. Hera? Orthodox old hag. Aphrodite? Love crazed matchmaker. Demeter? Whining mother (this pisses me off the most because she is so valid for hating Hades). It drives me absolutely crazy. I love pjo, but it's annoying how Poseidon and Hades were glazed while dust was paid off to all the goddesses.
