I went by Cassie in AOL kids rooms bc my AOL handle was Cassie1357 (for cassie from animorphs), then a number of Sailor Venus related names for the first couple of years bc I was mostly in Sailor Moon fandom, but the one that stuck around longest to the point that I actually was called it irl when i became close enough to a LotR forum friend that we ended up sharing a house for a while was Rosie.

For I think almost a year, I went by Wakko Warner on a talkerMUD called DS-9 and its more-or-less twin site The Tower. When I joined a larger MUD, the name Wakko was taken, so I went for the more generic Toon.

… That one’s sort of stuck.

If you actually read anything, you would know that those decisions were being made on *local* levels. Particularly I believe it was in Turkey where it was becoming a noticeable issue because they were banning LGBT content and any content that criticized their government. It wasn’t global.

YouTube is an American company that has been confirmed to not only actively demonetize and remove videos from LGBT creators while still showing homophobic ads targeted towards people who WATCH LGBT CONTENT but also just hard-coded those types of decisions into their new TOS which are almost definitely going to completely bust small creators while still allowing their big-brand names like PewDiePie and whoever the fuck else to continue on being nazis and shit in public.
