Keith x Touch Starved Reader Headcanons.
Sorry for the long wait for any kind of update, a lot of things have happened to me in the past year in the spirit of 2020. Hope you enjoy this short piece, of course its Keith LOL. Like it, share it and let me know what you think if you want~
Neither of you truly know how to interact with each other at first. Keith is also an incredibly touch starved person. Plus he's only really comfortable hugging and touching people he's comfortable with.
Until he becomes more confident as a person in the later stages of the war, a lot of romantic interaction would probably need to be initiated by his s/o.
However once you both begin to progress in your relationship he loves getting to hold your hand and hug you. Being close in general just reminds him that you’re alive and healthy. He’s seen a lot of death and destruction, knowing you are okay is imperative to his peace of mind.
He loves to cuddle after exceptionally difficult missions. Once he takes a shower and is comfortable, he likes to just hold on to you.
A lot of the relationship is figuring out the other's boundaries. He doesn’t want to overstep too quickly and make you uncomfortable. But as time goes on hugs get longer, more casual brushes against each other's skin as you walk together, more drowning in each other as you watch an Earth movie Pidge magically procured.
He tries to pay attention to the little ques that you use to tell him you want to cuddle if you aren’t good at expressing yourself. At first he's a bit oblivious to it, but when it comes to the people he cares about he tries hard to pay attention. Affection eventually becomes second nature.
He wants to make you feel as loved as possible.
He isn’t very good at expressing himself verbally so he often turns to physical affection. Sometimes he likes to be held too. In the quiet of one of your rooms, where it's only the two of you. He likes it when you brush your fingers through his hair or softly rub your thumb against his arm. It helps to calm some of the nightmares he has.
Also he loves it when your limbs are tangled in the morning. Listening to your breathing and just getting to enjoy being in your presence.
He’s super careful about initiating kisses at first. He almost never does, and if he does it's usually a quick peck. As he gets a little more sure of himself he’ll love to kiss you in the private areas of the ship, away from prying eyes. He might eventually get comfortable enough to kiss you goodbye in front of the others.
Keith obviously craves some form of closeness throughout the series. He hugs his teammates and his mother fairly easily, albeit sometimes slightly awkwardly.
He understands what it's like not to have always been given the amount of physical comfort as needed. He’ll be patient with his s/o and will most likely be overcoming a lot of his own personal challenges. But once he’s comfortable expect lots of hugs and cuddles!
