We're the Larkspur Collective, or LC for short! We're bodily 20, collectively go by Aspen, Leigh, LC, or Larkspur (preferably Aspen), and use predominantly he/they pronouns unless otherwise specified. Our host's name is Rowan, and he is the primary poster.

We are undiagnosed OSDD-1b and believed to be traumagenic, but support all systems regardless of origin! We also believe ourselves to have ADHD, autism and BPD.

hi hello yes i have been dead. however i want to post about my solution to simply plural being discontinued: i am coding my own damn app because i remembered i am in fact a web developer and can do these things!!!!

some screenshots of stuff i have done so far! do not get your hopes up, i am NOTORIOUS for not finishing projects, but this is something i am hoping to release at some point…….. even if the hosting costs have to come out of my own pocket! i have some friends testing what i have so far. ^_^

💡Important Discovery:

if you use a pet name such as "kitten", you can get away with talking about multiple partners at work without outing yourself AND while using your preferred term for them as long as you're clever.

"Got my kitten a treat on the way home last night and she was sooooo excited, it was really cute." <- I knew my love had a hard day and stopped for her favorite takeout and she kissed my face 14 times when I walked in the door with the bag.

Your reactions make sense, even when they are bigger than the situation.

One thing I want people with BPD to hear is this that emotional intensity is not random. It comes from a lifetime of fear, loss, and moments where being hyperaware kept you safe.

So when you overreact, or spiral, or panic because someone was quiet for too long, it is not because you are broken. It is because your body remembers what it was like to be hurt. You are trying to protect yourself the best way you learned.

Healing is not about never reacting. It is about learning how to slow down, check the facts, and remind yourself that not every silence is a threat. You are not wrong for feeling deeply. You are learning how to feel safely.

This is an interesting thing. Looks like testimonies of people who left the MAGA movement- how they got into it and why.

Leaving a cult is really hard, so I really respect the people who are speaking from this place.

Look, I know people want to react to the 'leopards eating faces party' with a big fat 'told you so,' but these are ex-cultists who are reaching out to people who may need an exit with a soft landing.

People who are deeply in a cult are afraid to leave it and MAGA is no exception! There's a fear that once you leave, you won't be accepted by anyone, so they stay even if they no longer believe in their rhetoric.

A very intelligent person can fall for a cult if they feel that it can offer them something they're missing. The outside world is perilous and you can be safe here. Your friends will reject you now that you've joined us, but we will accept you. Decisions are hard, we can make them for you. The secular world has broken you, we can give you new life through christ.

If you read some of the testimonies (and so many of them are young people) you'll see how much of it is 'I didn't see it, it took someone I love to show it to me, I can't unsee it now.' We've all done things we regret. Some regrets are bigger than others. I would rather forgive them and allow them to do good work than berate them for a decision they made when compromised by anxiety.

If you want to punish them, that's up to you.

But yeah. I think we should cheer for them.

And it's 100% the sentiment that needs to be cultivated. If you want MAGA to go away or be diminished, then you have to give people grace when they leave. Not only that, but you literally have to make it as easy as possible, or all you're doing is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

If we don't make it possible to admit that you've made a mistake, no one will be able to leave.

This idea that once you've made a mistake and gotten taken in by a cult's propaganda, you're forever tainted? That's some serious Evangelical Christian bullshit of the same variety as the dirty chewing gum view of virginity. Yes, people should have to work to undo any harm they've done,* but it's important to remember that the victims of cults are exactly that:

Victims.

For a site that repeats "you are not immune to propaganda," people seem to act like a lack of immunity to propaganda is a fucking moral failing.

Also, as several people have pointed out: you don't have to become best friends with ex-MAGAts. And it's true that they might not learn as much as we might want, or redeem themselves completely. You might have to do some code-switching to talk to them.

But we need allies, and having allies who are able to talk to current MAGAts and say, "Yeah, I used to think that, but..." is a powerful thing. Don't throw that away.

The fact of the matter is that it's not even JUST about understanding the codes and cross-cultural communication, though that is important. All of us who haven't been in X or Y cult have to face the fact that just because we immediately smell the stank on it, that does NOT mean we understand it better than people who've been inside and come to refute it through personal experience -- the people who've left and committed to growing out of it actually have the basis to understand what their former cult-mates believe and why better than we ever could. Never-Ins like us have a limit to what we can truly understand, precisely because we smelled the stank the moment we encountered the cult and never got invested in it. So we straight-up can't grasp the perspectives of people who've had their personal and social identities tied to the ideology and outgrown it, at least not without listening to people who have. That doesn't mean being friends. It doesn't mean conceding them authority or perfect wisdom on everything [often recovering cult members will still have some peculiar and even toxic views they haven't outgrown yet, so unquestioning credulity def isn't the angle] but it DOES mean we should proceed as though they know *some* stuff that we just don't/can't know the same way, not being in their positions. It does mean we should listen and start from humility about what we can reasonably know of others' experiences.

It often feels like mainstream acceptance of queer people, particularly trans and nonbinary people, is contingent on there being few of us. When I was a kid witnessing arguments about gay marriage, statistics about LGBTQ people were so often presented in such a way as to reassure everyone else that we are not dangerous because we are rare. "It's not going to cause societal collapse ... because such a small percentage of people are gay."

And conservative rhetoric against queer people, particularly trans people, which explicitly refers to us as a "social contagion," really underscores that any perceived "increase" in sexual or gender diversity will be seen as a threat. If queer people are permitted to exist, we must be aberrant and isolated. If we are normal and natural and commonly occurring, it is because something has gone terribly wrong.

So. Forgive me if I bristle at the well-meaning argument that "these trans athlete bans are ridiculous, they're only going to affect a few dozen people!" I understand where they're coming from. But I think trans people should be free and abundant.

Physical media is really awesome but please don’t discount sites like Bandcamp where you can buy DRM-free digital media. Buying raw media files lets you:

- Store a collection of millions of songs on a single hard drive (or burn them to CDs yourself!)

- Directly support artists, even those without the time/clout/resources to sell physical media

- With 20 minutes of effort, share your media library with anyone, anywhere, as much as you want.

Giant publishing companies are trying *really hard* to convince everyone that digital media is synonymous with you-don’t-own-shit streaming services, eternal subscription fees, and locked-down snoopscope video players. But there’s a reason so many artists sell their works online without those catches. Go support them!
