It’s interesting that scientists have documented homosexual behaviours in over 1500 species. But only one species has documented homophobia. So what really is unnatural? Something that can be found in 1500 species or something cruel and hateful that’s been found in one.
And that my friends is why Pride Month is still so important. Yes, it is about celebration. It is about joy, love, community, and being visible without apology. But it is also about walking for those who cannot. Speaking for those who have been silenced, and standing for those who still live in countries where being LGBTQIA+ is criminalised, punished, or treated as something shameful.
Pride is a reminder to every government, every lawmaker, and every person who still believes otherwise: all love is beautiful, all identities deserve dignity, and every LGBTQIA+ person has the right to exist freely.
As pride month is coming up, I would like to once again petition us queers to include shapes/designs into our pride flags instead of only colors.
I love all the colors and I know being colorful in general is a deep part of queer culture and joyful resistance. I’m definitely not saying we should do away with them. But like, some people are colorblind. Printers run out of colored ink. Shit happens. And as I learned in the one graphic design class I took, any good design should be readable in only black and white/two colors. Because seriously, without the colors, all the flags are all just horizontal stripes. I’m fairly deep into queer culture and I still have trouble remembering some of the flags. They kinda blur together after a while.
Shout out to the designer of the intersex flag, who included the circle. That’s easy to read. Asexuals have the Ace of spades. Aromantics have an arrow. What else to we want to want to be represented by?
Help Minneapolis trans couple after police brutality
I’m an autistic trans man, my girlfriend is a trans woman. A wellness check was called for me, the crisis team tried to force open the door. I felt pressured to talk to them, but my girlfriend told me that they weren’t the police and that I didn’t have to go alone with them.
After we went inside they called the police and lied about her having a gun
The police came and took me out of my apartment. They detained my girlfriend with multiple officers in my apartment, pulled a gun on her, and started searching our whole apartment. They verbally humiliated her and I had to beg for them not to hurt her.
They took me out front away from her and started asking about our relationship. Where and how we met, why we are together, what I see in her. When I told them that we’re going to get married and she helps with tasks because I’m autistic, they told me I could get her arrested and get a care worker instead. When I denied they asked if I wanted to be institutionalized or hospitalized instead.
When I got the police report I could see clearly that they called after my girlfriend didn’t let me get forced to talk to them alone. We have no weapons. The police report shows I told officers I never felt scared of her.
Right now, my account is overdrafted and I need to pay rent. We’re in the process of getting the bodycam footage, and we’re filing a civil complaint soon.
An all-transmasc Ironman trio just won 3rd place in a major men's triathlon, beating over 200 other men's teams. 🏊♂️🏃🚴♂️ Trans men win men's competitions all the time, but nobody pays attention because it doesn't fit the mainstream narrative. I think we should celebrate their victories, too! 🏆
Heads up my trans and queer friends, do not participate in this study. Spread the word to stay away;
Skeet from Alejandra Caraballo that says: If you see this, don't participate. It's a rigged study by Lisa Littman and unethical researcher J. Michael Bailey meant to undermine access to care. Spread the word.
You can't be a leftist who supports autonomy and human rights and support bigotry. End of.

International cooperation is actually so effective that most people don’t even notice it happening, and then erroneously believe it can’t solve anything.
Fixing issues before they develop into actual disasters is such an underappreciated thing it hurts at all levels.
We don't talk about acid rain because there isn't any more acid rain because when acid rain started happening and we learned that the cause was mainly sulphur oxide and carbon monooxide from car exhausts, countries all over the world made it a law that car companies had to produce cars that produced less exhaust with better effectivenes (burning the fuel all the way to CO2 instead of the halfassed CO) and oil rafineries to remove the sulphur from the gasoline in the first place.
We don't talk about computers crashing because of the turn of the century, because thousands of programmers worked very hard to write updates and patches for Every Single Program humanity as a whole used back in 1999 and then somehow managed to failtest, distribute, and update every single device and system, be it an online or offline one before the midnight of the 1st january of 2000.
On a much smaller scale, no one ever commenta or notices cleaners and housekeepers doing their job - be it at home or at whole buildings - because they always make sure that there's nothing to notice. But don't be fooled - at any point of your life you are one week of them not doing away from swimming in trash and filth with nothing to eat and nothing clean to wear. Only then you would notice.
Now it's time to do that thing again and make sure that we don't kill our whole planetary ecosystem within the next century.
Remember when they spent years telling us to panic over the hole in the ozone layer and then suddenly just stopped talking about it and nobody ever mentioned the ozone layer
From "Derek Thompson", @DKThomp
What happened is scientists discovered chlorofluorocarbons were bad for the ozone, countries believed them, the Montreal Protocol was signed, and CFC use fell by 99.7%, leading to the stabilization of the ozone layer, perhaps the greatest example of global cooperation in history.

When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.
A couple of years ago I was tidying a rarely-tidied storage space, and found this painting that I bought long pre-transition (and then hid away, and eventually forgot about), because I had been captivated by the beauty of it, and wished dearly that it could be me, and settled for "in another life", and now, it's basically me (if I put my hair up):
...even down to the small boobs and big hands and that dress, and this is what I thought I could never be
people will insist humans are naturally selfish when feeding the birds is a common hobby. when there are wildlife hospitals you can call when you find an injured fox outside. do we get anything from helping wild animals? i don't think so. it's not personal. it's just nice. it's something we have the resources to do, so we do it. i think thats worth remembering.
