Happy news!! I just have to put the barcode in place on the paperback and give all my files one last look over, but, otherwise everything is finished! Even more exciting, I have a release date set for An Inkling of Magic!! So mark your calendars for September 1st! Typesetting/illustrating for the paperback of my book is finished!! Also, it grew again in word count😂. Final, final word count: 198,560 words. Page count minus front/back matter: 585 pages; 597 pages with. Next up, painting the book cover!

Very, very near to finishing the typesetting and illustrating for An Inkling of Magic!! Only have three more chapters, the epilogue, and the back matter left to go once I finish the chapter I'm on presently. Also, just about to draw the last two illustrations.

Typesetting and illustration is underway for An Inkling of Magic! Just a few screenshots of some of my favourite spreads so far. As you can probably tell, I'm having loads of fun with the ink splats 😂. Only four chapters in so far as it's seriously fiddly work plus I'm having to stop periodically to sketch illustrations as I find places for them.

Had a great time last weekend at Third Coast Book Fest in Grand Haven, Michigan! Lots of bookmarks went out with my information, had a couple of newsletter signups, and came home with fewer books than I went there with. Already looking forward to next year's show.

I also just made an enquiry into another possible event for my books 👀.

Did a practice run the other day to sort out my display for the Third Coast Book Fest! It you're a booklover in or near Michigan, everyone would love to have you drop by! The festival is in Grand Haven, Michigan on Saturday March 21 from 11am to 4pm. Over 200 authors will be in attendance spread out between Central Park Place, the museum, and the businesses on Main Street. There's a full list of authors and their locations on the festival website, but I'll be located at Salon 206.

I have finally finished organizing the 10k+ fonts in my font management program 🙃. Of course, I still have a dragon's hoard worth of fonts to still put in my font management program, but that's a problem for another day 😂. For now, it's enough to at least have organized the existing ones in there and to have turned off the thousands of fonts I'd accidentally turned on last year buying clicking on the wrong button 🙄. Which means I'm finally ready to start typesetting without risk of breaking my laptop from font overload 😆.

Guess what? It turns out I'll be at the Third Coast Book Fest after all!! I thought I'd missed the deadline and my application was put towards next year, but I evidently squeaked in just under it as I got an email last week with my location placement. I've verified it with the event and they confirmed it was legit! So, woohoo! This is going to be a big event as they have over 200 authors registered to be there. The Third Coast Book Fest is held in Grand Haven, Michigan and authors will be spread out across the historic downtown area. It's 11am - 4pm on March 21 and I'll be located at Studio 206 Salon! Would love to see you there!

I am feeling ahead of the game when, in fact, I'm actually late 😂. I've applied to my first book festival for next year (Third Coast Book Fest) because they were full for this year, but already collecting applications for 2027. On the bright side, I'll have a new book out by then and be finished with the mess of migrating my books to wide 😁.
