One of the things I've decided to do to try and spend more time on creative hobbies is to try and wrangle various ideas / scenes / characters in my head into (hopefully) a book.

I've not written properly in years, and not a wholly original work since I was about 12. Even though I know the chances of anyone reading it are low, and that this is just a way for me to use another part of my brain and remind myself why I love writing (in a capacity other than my day to day legal writing - which I also enjoy but is v different) I'm struggling to get past the self-consciousness of it. So much of it feels silly, or like I'm being daft, and I'm struggling to just chuck myself into it.

I've got characters and a vague sense of the world, and a semi plot. Baby steps.

the word for brain here is cerebrum, and it's been literally split in two

I've seen wordplay like this before in Latin, but with compound words that are clearly made up of separate parts

but "cere" is not a word and neither is "brum"

you could translate it something like

"he split his br apart ain with a rock"

and it's only slightly less unreadable than that due to freer word order

needless to say something I'd expect more from a modern experimental poem than an ancient epic
