We all know Hirano tries to covertly find out information online about his sexuality. I mean, he studies. The boy is an academic, and where is he used to finding answers? Written down!
So, of course, he tries to find out how people show that they care about someone. I mean, obviously Kagiura loves holding hands and hugging and would probably curl up in his lap most days, but Hirano's job takes him away for varying lengths of time, which means touch isn't so steadily given.
He discovers something that seems simple. Logical. It completely makes sense. He can do this.
The next time Hirano takes off on a flight path that will have him away for 4 or 5 days, Kagiura is dramatically devastated. He wallows in their apartment, practice only distracting during the day. Night is the worst.
At least he has their cat, Tenjin, named by Hirano for the box they'd found him in, which had been filled with books. A good luck charm, he'd told Kagi. But he was done with school, he'd told Hirano. You're never done learning, Hirano insisted. The bookshelves in their apartment are proof of that. Kagi is sure Hirano actually has a private plan to make the apartment a library, shelf by shelf.
Tenjin doesn't seem to mind, since more shelves offer more places to curl up in. Kagiura, lonely as heck, entices the black and orange cat over with an old tome. He knows Tenjin loves Hirano just as much as him, and the book smells like him. Or is it that Hirano smells like books?
Either way, Tenjin takes the bait.
As Kagiura is settling in with his furry stand in for the man he loves, his fingers hit something thick at the collar. A bright blue sticky note is wrapped around the top. How on earth did Tenjin manage that?!
"Don't cut your hair."
What?????
Kagiura and Tenjin look at one another.
Is the cat trying to speak with him? Is he actually inhabited by the spirit of a god?
No, the purposeful flick at the end of the lettering is a lot like the notes he'd use in school.
From Hirano.
Kagiura tugs on his hair. It had been getting a little long in the back. The team publicist had asked if he was going to trim it up. Keep up his next-door-neighbor-to-take-home-to-grandma look.
Kagiura finds it kind of funny. Maybe it was about the cat. Not that they ever gave him a haircut.
Strange.
Then he's getting ready for bed, and when he opens the medicine cabinet for toothpaste, there's another blue sticky note. This one is sticking to the back of the door:
"I sewed your jacket."
His jacket???
Kagiura tries to remember what on earth this is about. It hits him when he has a mouth full of foam and a toothbrush dangling from the side.
He runs to the closet.
It's a little ratty. Worn leather. Something he got in his third year; a present from his Mom.
A new patch was sewn on, covering a tear. It was from a band Kagiura didn't know much about except the one concert he'd gone to with Hirano, because he could never say no to his partner.
It had been sitting in the closet for six months.
More notes pop up each day, hiding under plates, and on an instant ramen packet, and cleverly folded in Kagiura's wallet. Reminders. Suggestions. Thanks, without saying thanks.
It's like Hirano is still there.
And when Hirano gets back home, late one night, he sees Kagiura asleep with a book resting nearby, a purring Tenjin patiently waiting on top, paws tucked in. Hirano coaxes the cat away and picks up the book. Sticking out from under the cover like a feathered skirt, are blue pieces of paper.
honestly one of my favorite things about fanfic is when you can see the canon influences come out in really subtle ways. like a canon line thats mentioned once as a throwaway is suddenly the entire premise for a fic or it influences the characterization or something. its just so cool to see how people weave their ideas around a source material, especially if its not a detail i'd thought about before
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Now, I haven't included EVERYONE, but I put those I think I know enough about. There are side characters I don't have a ton of knowledge about (and haven't read or can't remember). Sasaki -
Let's start by giving this guy who slowly meanders through life, super speed. Think of all the moments in SSMY when Sasaki acts impulsively, but then holds himself back. Saving Kuresawa from bullies, grabbing Miyano before Ogasawara can touch him, kabedonning Miyano in his crossdressing competition outfit. Now, imagine him zipping in and then halting, constantly holding himself back. He tries to take life slow, doesn't want to be defined by his quirk. See my vision?
Miyano -
Gotta make a nod to sensei here and give Miyano the ability to manifest his emotions into shapes that float around him. Bubbles and triangles and squares and stars. All the lovely bits that we know are symbolic in the manga, are actualized by Miyano in this crossover. They change in shape, form, color, and quantity depending on his mood. Sasaki is endlessly entertained that he can actually SEE when he flusters Miyano. Miyano is NOT...
Hirano -
Hirano is surrounded by his own weather phenomenon. Hirano gets pissed? The temperature drops within a certain radius and a breeze of snow rushes past. Kagiura smiles? Suddenly rays of light brighten behind Hirano and it grows warm. He doesn't feel like he's enough? Rain clouds appear. He has an umbrella in his bag at all times. Quirks, ergh... So inconvenient, thinks Hirano.
Kagiura -
Called shot. Kagiura can place a target on a spot and anything he throws at it will hit. This is tons of fun for tossing paper from across the classroom. Classmates try to beat him at his own game. They play, throwing shots behind their backs, blindfolded, etc. Kagi has to touch the place he wants to target. We'll say in HRKG, when he misses a pivotal shot, the target was misplaced on the rim and he realized it too late.
Tashiro -
The boy who likes to try everything, but is a master of none! Tashiro likes to take things easy. Everything is worth doing, but you don't need to stress about being perfect! He really likes to learn, he just doesn't want to kill himself doing it. His quirk is there to help! Tashiro can mimic movement. He watches someone knit? He can perform those same motions. He sees an action movie with a fight scene? He can do the same combination of jumps and dodges. He's still TASHIRO doing it all, so motivation, capability of what his body CAN DO, and follow through, are all on HIM. He likes learning the basics. The only thing he's dedicated actually watching again and again is ping pong. It's the only way to fight back against Hanzawa's ruthless game!
Kuresawa -
Since Kuresawa feels like the everyman, making him quirkless seems apt. He's not bitter about it though. He actually likes having an objective eye when it comes to quirks. He's so kind that people assume he must have an ability to pass on his positive energy, but that's literally just Kuresawa. He's just so genuinely HIM!
Shirahama -
Ever gotten frustrated that there wasn't enough time in the day because you have to spend 6-8 hours sleeping? Not a problem for Shirahama! He literally doesn't need sleep. AT ALL! He just seems tired because he's been staring at screens for an inordinate amount of time, playing every dating sim possible. He's gonna be an epic streamer, doing wicked long marathons.
Ogasawara -
This guy is a fire user if I've ever seen one. I think his flames would be wild colors though, purples and blues. He absolutely uses it as an intimidation factor when some idiots try to start a fight with him and Sasaki on the street, since they look like they might start trouble. Sasaki plays the bit up. They laugh about it later.
Hanzawa -
Probability. A lot like principal Nedzu, Hanzawa can assess a choice and envision the likelihood of an outcome. Scenarios flash across his mind in a flurry. The energy that is drained from him depends on the significance of the choice. And, yes, there are small things that he's looked into and become feverish after he realized a seemingly insignificant choice can change the trajectory of someone's life.
Niibashi -
He can touch anything and change its color. He touches spaces he outlines in his art and fills them in. As long as Niibashi knows the color, he can use it. His nails drip with the color of his choice. He dyes hair with a swipe. He will make sure Kagi doesn't look like a mess, changing something on his shirt if it's not complementary.
Ichinose -
Teleportation is Ichinose's game. This guy is popping up unexpectedly all the time. He imagines where he wants to be, snaps his fingers, and he's there! The place he just happens to think about a lot is his high school. He pops up when the dorm manager is changing and he's like OMG I'M SO SORRY... But he is one million percent giggling under his breath while battling tummy grumbles.
Ugawa -
Ugawa, seems like the sort that would like to go unseen. Real observer energy. Ugawa is like a chameleon. He blends into his surroundings, LITERALLY! One second he's there, and the next? Huh, he must have left... Pssst, he's literally behind you. AH!
Fujimi -
Since she's in the hospital, she should have a quirk that drains her body in some capacity that is unpreventable. Since a hospital room sequesters her from others, let's make it a quirk that activates around others. Like in MHA how Eri has a fever once her quirk is depleted and lacks control, Fujimi has little control over what she does and gets sick afterward. I think she should have some sort of healing effect, but rather than it being physical, she could heal emotional turmoil. When she asks questions about how someone is feeling, the feeling is made manifest, and she absorbs that energy into her body. Negative energy obviously makes her sick. Lucky for her, Kuresawa is an optimist. His ability to see the positive in even the toughest times, helps Fujimi slowly heal in a world where so many are weighed down by their woes.
Makimura -
I LOVE a good creativity based quirk, so how about we give this confident, spitfire something beneficial to her hobby? Her skin is a canvas, so when she is struck with inspiration, she can draw right on her skin and peel it up. There are a few layers of canvas, don't worry! It has to regrow before she can use it again, but it only takes a couple days.
Yokota -
I've GOT to give her super hearing. Every time she calls Ogasawara, she can hear every small detail in the back, clear as day. A whispered secret isn't safe around Yokota, and neither are Ogasawara's complaints when she gets intensely fujo and starts shipping him with whoever is in earshot.
