Regular People Started Raising Stock Prices and Rich People Started Losing Money

Rich folk decided to start betting on when certain stock companies would fail and regular citizens found out and decided to buy shares of Gamestop to keep it from going under. Rich people saw the stock prices going up and, not only did many lose their bets, they also felt the need to buy up shares of now expensive stock. They didn't like losing money so they had companies like Robin Hood stop regular folks from buying or selling shares of stock so rich people could stop losing money.

Or, third option–we can bring down the cost of living. Lower the cost of mortgages/rent, food, clothes, transportation, childcare, healthcare, and utilities. Once you do ALL of that, you won't have to increase wages.

There was a photo of a guy holding a confederate flag inside the Capitol. Make no mistake what this is about. This is about white supremacy. All those people are racists and the only reason they got that far inside the building is because they were white.

They have guns, are pepper spraying cops, they are breaking down doors and setting off fire extinguishers inside Capitol.

It’s a coup. They have stormed the seat of government while it was in session, forcing the evacuation of representatives, demanding their leader be retained despite losing the election, and the law enforcement and military didn’t stop them. it’s. a. coup.

For anyone not keeping up, Trump held a rally earlier today, told his supporters to storm the Capitol building with him, then went to hide in the White House.

Protestors tore through 4 layers of barricades and are fighting cops to get into the Capitol building. A possible bomb was spotted and the Madison and Cannon buildings have been evacuated while a bomb squad was called in. And just now the Capitol has gone into lockdown.

But also Pence issued a statement that he is not doing anything with the electors and McConnell denounced Republican senators’ efforts to stop counting the electoral votes.

And as I was writing this, the protesters breached the Capitol and Pence was pulled from the Senate chamber.

The Senate just recessed due to the Capitol being breached.

Cops are doing pretty much nothing to stop any of this from happening btw. Protesters are outside the Senate door.

OK everything got a lot crazier really fast.

Trump lashed out at Pence for not stopping the vote. He is not telling the protesters to leave but instructed them to “support the Capitol police and law enforcement”. Trump later told protesters to “remain peaceful” despite already storming the Capitol.

Ivanka tweeted out calling the protestors “patriots” but then deleted this tweet and replaced it with one saying violence is not patriotic. Meanwhile Rudy Giuliani’s messaging to protesters is to be peaceful and that they are on “the right side of history”. Neither acknowledges the violence.

The Department of Defense denied a request by DC officials to deploy the National Guard. Supposedly it was because they were beholden to Trump and only acted when he decided to deploy them about an hour later.

Guns were drawn by police on the Senate floor as protesters break through windows in an attempt to reach the room. One women was shot in the chest (GRAPHIC VIDEO). It appears she was with those trying to break into the Senate floor. Later reports state that that 5 people have been transported to the hospital, including at least member of police.

Police are making “attempts to deescalate”.

Ted Cruz is sending fundraising text messages to contest the vote despite the escalation of the riots. Screenshot of one here.

Mitt Romney called the riots an  “insurrection”.

Emergency procedures were emailed to all Capitol staffers urging them to hide.

Mayor Bower issued a 6pm curfew.

Protestors are climbing all over police vehicles without cops stopping them. Maybe because they’re too busy taking selfies with the protesters.

The potential bomb has been detonated by bomb squad.

Trump is refusing to condemn the protester’s violence despite being urged to do so by staffers which is a stark contrast to his attitude toward BLM protesters. His aids can’t convince him to do anything and the White House briefing room is empty with no preparation to address the nation to be seen.

 Only Pence is stepping up to call for an end to the violence and for protestors to vacate the Capitol.

President elect Biden is calling the protesters a “mob” and an “insurrection”.

Chris Christie has been attempting without success to contact Trump and convince him to tell his supporters to leave.

As I finished writing this Trump finally posted a video telling people to go home, but also repeated his false election claims. In it he also calls his supporters “very special” and his opponents “evil” ??

1/6/2021 I've been away for far too long.

So, what's been happening since I left? Well, former Vice President Joe Biden has become current President-elect Joe Biden and was supposed to be ceremonially approved by Congress today, but more on that later.

In the Georgia senate race in November, it was too close to call, so in this fine January they held a second election in which the democrats won both races (as all states get two senators). This is a little weird because usually both senators don't get elected the same year. Often, one is supposed to be a newbie and they learn from the other one how to be an effective senator. At least that's what I was taught in school.

This double win in the senate has brought us to an even-steven split between Democrats and Republicans and that means Vice President-elect Kamala Harris gets to have a vote should there be a tie. That means Republican-majority leader Mitch Mcconnell has become the minority leader and Chuck Schumer is to be the brand-new Democratic-majority leader. That means both the legislative and executive branches are blue and can work together to move the country forward, which should really be the only way to move a country.

Should Biden choose to appoint more supreme court justices to make it a blue court, that would bring all three governmental bodies together.

Buuuut right now there's a bit of a hitch as I alluded to earlier, which is that the Capitol building was stormed by ARMED right-wing nutjobs. This has effectively impeded the normally boring and forgettable portion of the election process and halted it altogether. A person has been shit and, unlike the PEACEFUL blm protests during the summer, police and the national guard have been extremely nonviolent toward the rioters.

And before some of you say, "those blm protests were violent," the violence was largely caused by pro-Trump counter-protesters and the police. Literally, look it up.

Arrests have not been made on the scale they should be made on, most rioters are being escorted out of the building and just moved away from the area. Trump has made some pretty weak statements toward them, making sure to let them know he's "proud." And, I might add, he didn't say SHIT until after Biden came out and denounced them. He was the one who said they should storm DC to begin with. He also wanted Pence to stop the process of counting electoral votes and make everyone go back to the polls to revote. Luckily Pence had no intention of doing so.

Don't get me wrong, he's still a monster, but at least he's a monster with boundaries which is apparently something that's hard to find these days.

So here we are. How do we move forward from this? Letting bygones be bygones is absolutely not an option. At some point, the infection is too far gone to just try to let it heal on its own. Examples need to be made, precedents need to be set.

Biden used some strong wording today and we need to hold him to it. He works for the people and he needs to know it. He needs to be the strong democrat we've been looking for.

Okay y'all. It's time. Tomorrow is the day.

If you have not voted, do it tomorrow. Please. There is no one that will vote for you and this shit is going to be close and messy. Trump won't leave easily if he loses and his supporters are loud and dangerous. We can't guarantee a win. We can't guarantee Trump won't fuck with the results, he did it in 2016 and I wouldn't put it past him to do it again. We will not know the results initially, things will be tense and crazy and likely emotions will boil over. Vote anyway. The bigger the gap, the stronger our stance is.

I won't lie, Biden is for sure not my first choice, but good God, I'll take a normal, centrist corporate whore over a racist, sexist, killer clown any day.

If you care about anyone, remember you are voting for their lives. ANY person of color, ANY woman, ANY lgbtq+ person, ANY grandparent, and with COVID, ANY of you are at risk. Vote like you realize it. Tomorrow is our last chance. Especially those who are gen z and young millennials, we are notoriously terrible at getting to the polls and actually that's a lot of the reason Bernie didn't win either time. We have the numbers, we can get out there.
