Okay, I've watched too many art restoration videos, because the amount of overpaint was ridiculous. He didn't just change her smile (I'm assuming the gender here as this was a more male dominated field), he enlarged her eyes, thickened her eyebrows, and generally changed the shape of her face. Even the apron on her lap is different: dude didn't like the way she was sitting, I guess! Oh, and her shirt is different!
I could keep going on because I keep seeing more bad work and it's astonishing. And this is from a lay person whose only qualifications is watching Baumgartner Restoration and nodding sagely when he complains about people using staples. Just the audacity of the earlier restorer.

When I was little I was taught to not start multiple projects at once because I'd get confused or mess them up or end up half-assing them.
I was taught when I start doing something, to finish it and then start up with something new.
It took me years to realize that while this is a good way to do things, it doesn't work with creativity. There are so many stories that I never even thought to write down because I was scared that if I wrote two things at once I wouldn't do a good job. I was terrified of writing more thing than one, despite having the inspiration and want to do it.
At the start of this year, I decided to take a break. Having written two stories in the last I just needed a break. And then I got inspired. I wrote 60k words and then I got inspired again but for a different story. I was still scared, but I realized something... I didn't want to lose either of these stories.
So now, I've written 80k words on the first one and 20k words on the other. And both of them are so fucking good.

Tuesday, April 27th: Hi everyone, I’m Gemma, a bi, mentally ill disaster, who’s in desperate need of help. I'm really sorry to be asking for help again so soon, but things have gotten worse for me and due to my bills, fees and charge-backs, both my accounts are overdrawn.
As most of you are already aware from my previous post, I have been struggling financially for quite some time due to my welfare benefits being under a review, which is due to my worsening mental health and the UK’s controversial changes to how benefits are assessed and assigned. And at the moment, I'm currently struggling to get by, as I don't get my U.C benefit until the end of the month, and all my previous donations have gone to pay off court fees, to avoid going back to court in June. I am also still awaiting the outcome of my PIP Assessment (April/May 2021 at the latest)
I know this is a huge ask, and I'm completely heartbroken to be asking for help again, but I still desperately need some as I don't have anyone else to turn to and I'm currently bedridden with a UTI/kidney infection.
My bank account is in the negative by -£216.62 & my PayPal is -£89.43!! So my goal to pay these off is £300.

I've owned a dog for over a decade and I love her more than myself but can I just say, I hate how stressful it can be. She was recently diagnosed with cancer and there's nothing we can do about it and ever since, I have been stressed over everything. The demon lord has conquered the land, and five heroes have been summoned to depose him. The heroes journey towards the demon lord–to discover that he’s built a thriving economy, public healthcare, and the land is more prosperous than it has ever been.
It was a clerk outside the capital that explained it to them. They had decided to capture her because her tiny horns bespoke a touch of infernal blood, so she had to be carrying something important, right? Turned out to be crop records of all things. She had been absolutely indignant when one of the heroes had tossed a ledger aside, snatching it up and brushing dirt from the pages. “Idiots! Crop records are important! They show weather patterns, predict tax income, give figures for where and what relief is needed when things change for the worse. That’s the problem with you muscle bound types, you don’t understand how things -work-.”
Mirae tried to smile, the young woman was pretty if you ignored the horns and golden eyes. “Well, why don’t you explain it to us? Why does a demon lord care about disaster relief and taxes?”
The clerk gave Mirae a skeptical look, then looked at the drawn swords of two of the other heroes and turned back to Mirae as the best of a bad lot. “Because Hell runs on the souls of the damned, and people can only be damned if they choose to be evil.”
Mirae frowned, “But if people are hungry, they’ll steal to feed their families.”
The clerk nodded, “But that’s desperation, it’s not evil.” Mirae frowned more in frustration, “He should be making it illegal to go to temples, or ban healers to force people to break the law.” The clerk sighed, “Once again, desperation, not evil. Turning to prostitution to feed your kids isn’t evil. Lying to avoid execution isn’t evil. Working holy-days, eating forbidden food, breaking laws to save lives Is. Not. Evil. Evil has to be a choice. An uncoerced choice to do unnecessary harm. Oh sure, under the old system we got the souls of a few nobles who enjoyed being at the top and hurting people. But NOW?”
The clerk grins, and the grin seemed to have a few too many teeth. “Now people have a CHOICE. They choose to torment their neighbors, or to steal from taxes that would feed the poor, or to attack those who are weaker. Not out of hunger or desperation but out of their own pride… “Before we fed on a few nobles a year… now we get plenty of ordinary people as well.
“And now… we get heroes.”
I would read this if it was a book/fic
so i saw a dream the other week that i finished writing the book i'm currently working on and it ended up being about 41k words and i got so sad because it was smaller than i imagined and cried myself awake...
...so anyway, i reached 40k words yesterday while writing that book and i'm not even halfway done 😂
Battling The Bump: Triumphing Over Writer’s Block
It’s important to take breaks when you’re writing so that you don’t get blocked. Here are some helpful hints by Young Writers Program Participant Cozetta J!
As we all know, writer’s block is no fun. Writer’s block is when you want to keep writing, but you feel like you can’t. Like the words and the inspiration won’t come. Let’s go back to when you were first starting to write your book. Your novel was doing great. The plot was progressing, and your characters were thriving. You were so excited about getting your novel started, and you couldn’t wait till you had it finished and on your shelf; possibly even published!
But then, all of a sudden, you realize that your plot went by too fast, or you got ahead of yourself and you began writing about things that weren’t supposed to happen till a while later in your book. You realize that your book is a mess. Disgusted, you stop writing your novel, and you move on to other things. Everyone keeps telling you to “not give up!”, or “don’t stop writing!” which are two very important things to do. But sometimes, you need a break from writing. There is such a thing as writing TOO much in too little time. I’m not saying that it can’t be done, just that it could give you the dreaded writer’s block. But can you really avoid getting it? Well, I am sorry to say that you can not. It’s almost like your brain just freezes and says, “This isn’t fun anymore,” and so you stop writing your novel.
