I don't like the idea that Anakin and Mace disliked each other, I actually think it's very important that when Obi-Wan wasn't there Anakin went to Windu first in ROTS. And that Windu took him seriously, and went to arrest Palpatine. I think it's telling that Windu seems to immediately realize how Palpatine has manipulated Anakin, and how he tells Anakin not to listen to him. When Anakin helps kill Windu, Anakin considers that his point of no return. There's a relationship there that was not at all built on contempt or malice, but Windu seems to worry more for Anakin than he ever did fear him.

The funniest thing about Star Wars is that the fandom looked at the peaceful warrior monks whose whole thing is being selfless and practicing emotional self-control, and decided that they were an abusive death cult...while simultaneously looking at the actual abusive death cult and going- "oh yeah, these guys Allow Love™️ and are 100% found family" -even though being abusive towards and murdering your loved ones and your fellow Sith is literally the main requirement for being one alongside being a shit person and committing atrocities

Palpatine murdered his entire family, abused literally every apprentice he had, and then committed multiple genocides and dragged the galaxy into a dark age of fear and pain

Maul murdered a ton of people, literally took every chance he could to ruin Obi-Wan's life and kill those close to him, abused Savage while "training" him, and kidnapped and manipulated a child to try and take him on as an apprentice while also trying to murder his family

Dooku helped orchestrate the plot that eventually got his padawan killed, attempted to kill his padawan's padawan, cut off the arm of his padawan's padawan's padawan, tried to enslave the galaxy and murder his family- (the Order) -and abused both Ventress and Savage while they were under his tutelage

Ventress abused Savage and forced him to murder his brother, took part in trying to enslave the galaxy, killed tons of innocents, and then tried to murder her former master in his sleep

Anakin's path to the Dark Side is literally marked by him doing worse things and more of them especially to those close to him, his Fall culminates in him murdering- (or attempting to murder) -his wife and unborn children as well as him trying to kill his brother/father figure and committing two genocides at once, he plunges the galaxy into a dark age, then continues to commit atrocities, also tries to kill his padawan a lot, tortured his daughter, and cut off his son's hand

So tell me again how these people are the- "uwu found family" -trope and are So Great because They Allow Love, because...idk, I'm not seeing it

I think the most frustrating/disheartening misconception I often see about Star Wars, and the Jedi specifically, is the misguided notion that love and attachment are one and the same. Which in turn leads to fundamental misunderstandings of who the Jedi are and what their teachings on non-attachment mean. While you absolutely can be attached to those you love, you do not need attachment to have love for someone. That's as true in Star Wars as it is in real life. The reason that Jedi teach non-attachment is because attachment leads to suffering, and suffering is a path to the Dark Side. This, like many other facets of Jedi philosophy, takes inspiration from Buddhism. Buddhism teaches non-attachment for the same reason: to mitigate or eliminate suffering, which is caused by greed, delusion, and/or aversion. This does not mean that the Jedi are forbidden from loving others. They are forbidden from developing attachments to others, which is why the Order, by the time of the Clone Wars, has outright banned romantic relationships. It's hard to be in a romantic relationship without attachment. But Jedi can love, and do. We see beautiful friendships throughout Star Wars. Parental-like relationships between Master and Padawan. Sibling-like relationships between Master and Padawan. Outside of the Clone Wars era, especially in the High Republic, we often see the Jedi in acts of loving service. Obviously, what that looks like varies from individual to individual, but that loving compassion for all living things is absolutely instrumental to being a Jedi.

To me, the worst tragedy of Star Wars is that the Jedi would have won if they weren't betrayed. They discovered who was the Sith. Mace defeated him! The Jedi would have won the war that was set up to destroy them and they lost, not because of some incompetence or weakness or whatever, but because they were betrayed by one of their own.

One thing I appreciate star wars for always showing consistently is that 95% of all Jedi can't help but be good.

Like this isn't a matter of just being a good person or being trained to be a good person. They literally cannot help but be compassionate and caring. Even when they are doing wrong things, like in acolyte, it is still out of good intentions. It was a huge misunderstanding of course, but they just want everything to be good, which is an unrealistic goal and sometimes that results in bad things because of point of views.

But I can appreciate the fact that not a single fucking Jedi in the entirety of star wars wasn't good when presented with the opportunity. (Pong krell does not count and he can suck my dick) They simply couldn't help it, as the grand inquisitor says in Kenobi. The smart thing would be to not be involved, but even when they are being ACTIVELY HUNTED, They cannot stop themselves from butting in and helping others. Obi wan tried , but ended up helping, Cal tried to hide, ended up exposing himself to save someone, Ezra and Kanan, Ahsoka, Quinlan voss, and these are just the main people , who knows how many other survivors tried to help and ended up sacrificing themselves just so like 3-4 innocents could live. They didn't do anything on a grand scale, but those little acts of kindness probably helped hope from dying out completely.

The Jedi are the literal embodiment of hope and goodness and I fucking love that. Despite everything, and all the defamation palpatine did, the people still considered Jedi good.

And i appreciate it. The galaxy is a harsh place, and so is the real world. So it's wonderful seeing a faction that is just good. Sure they made mistakes with Anakin and some other times but like that's upto the people imo, not them as a whole. Where there is pong krell, there is also mace windu, there is also obi wan and Yoda .

And I appreciate them for showing this consistently. Do they make mistakes, yes everyone does. But they were completely finessed by palpatine into losing their way and they STILL managed to do their best.

I am a proud Jedi sympathiser and will probably be executed for that in the empire.

Actually no, there really isn't

What people misunderstand here is that the Jedi only can know the general feelings a person is experiencing, they feel that someone is sad, in pain, angry, etc, but they don't know why a person feels this way, in otltder to know that and take action, the Jedi need the person experiencing those feelings to open up and talk, and therein lies the issue, Anakin refuses to talk about his feelings, he barely even acknowledges them

Also to say the Jedi don't pick up on Anakin's feelings is plain wrong, we frequently see Jedi characters-typically Obi-Wan, Yoda, or Ahsoka-go "hey what's up bud? You got some negative energy there" to anakin, and he just shuts them out, he says he's fine, he ignores the question, he denies that there is an issue

remember in tcw movie how ahsoka is picking up his negative vibes about tatooine and tries to talk with him about it, quoting Yoda, and Anakin's all "yeah well I say I don't want to talk about my feelings"? Remember that?

The Jedi tried, they really did, but you can't help someone who refuses to be helped, especially not in a situation where any sort of outside help is predicated on the person acknowledging that there is a problem

(Not helping is the fact that anakin prefers to go to palpatine because palpatine tells him what he wants to hear)

Ngl joining the jedi order sounds like the ideal life to me because just imagine:

1. People regulate thier emotion and communicate to you logically. No need to understand social cues when you're an empath.

2. No pressure to marry, be in a romantic relationship and live in a nuclear household my entire life.

3. I can just?????? Help people?????? Without the extra cost of a system working me to the ground to achieve certain things????

4. No strings attached companionship and friendships? Amazing.

5. A caring and respectful community who council each other and accepts who I am as a person? Count me in.

6. Lightsaber go brrrrrrrrrr

7. Being able to do what I want career wise (Gardening, art, politics, piloting, exploring, childreering, medicine, teaching, etc.) without having to worry about money.
