Book I might one day Write excerpt.
I always felt like I was meant to be somewhere else. Of course, I’m sure most small town folks felt that way at least once in their life. But for me it was like an ache throbbing in urgency. The way my Uncle used to complain about his knee just before a thunderstorm. That sense that something was coming, even if you couldn’t exactly guess when.
Maybe that’s why as soon as I turned eighteen I was pulling out of that old dust and gravel driveway in a beat-up Nova heading for whatever that was out there calling to me. Maybe I’d have been better off staying at home. Then again, I never would have met him. And if I had learned anything, I had learned that he was most definitely worth risking it all and leaving that small town in the dust.
