Hey you over there, with the canonically arrogant/blunt/grumpy f/o: they’d never mean it with you.

Sure, they’re not going to change their personality just to fit some ideal, it’s not in their nature. You wouldn’t want them to anyways, or they wouldn’t be the person you love. They’re still going to give those gruff answers or those smug interjections.

But it’s different when it’s you. It’s impossible not to hear the fondness hidden in their voice, not when you know them so well. You’re the only one who can hear the worry behind their frustrated nagging, or the hidden insecurity behind all their boasting. They know exactly what kind of banter and teasing you’re okay with and what kind you aren’t, and they never cross that line. Maybe they had to learn to be curt or arrogant before… but now they have you. They trust you, and you trust them.

this has definitely been said before but: you're not a bad person for being uncomfortable sharing f/os, and there's nothing wrong with not wanting to share, either. you're not toxic or shitty just for setting a boundary — especially not for something as important as your own comfort and security. selfshipping is an extremely personal thing; and whether you're only okay with sharing certain f/os or none at all is entirely valid and justified. so long as you're not harassing anyone over shared faves, you're not doing anything wrong.
